Chicken On Charcoal reviews
69 I went to pick up some lunch from Chicken on Charcoal. I ordered a large salad and a small lamb meat pack. Firstly, the service leaves a lot to be desired - rude and abrupt come to mind. Secondly, the price of the lamb meat pack was a shock after seeing the container. I have included a photo below to show how little you get for 18 dollars.
This business wasn’t what it used to be and I would not recommend it to anyone.
Used to love this place years ago for its fresh yummy food.
I went back the other night to receive a long awaited dry kebab with stale bread.
I actually could hardly tell the dry tasteless meat was lamb. The chips were all over cooked with no salt. Really disappointed for the amount of money I spent on uneatable food.) :
Kebab was tasteless and the owner was extremely rude. We were left waiting at the counter for 5 minutes while he was cleaning the glass just looking at us. Also spoke disrespectfully to staff.
Won’t be going back.
Always busy. Serving great salads chicken and chips. Treat yourself to a rest from cooking and have this for dinner. It's not only very tasty but healthy too.
Expensive food with rude workers. Short man made it obvious to ignore me and then serve customers who ordered after me the same food I ordered.
Charcoal chicken Tasted Totally different from the one I got for the first time. It tasted exactly like the one you get from coles or woollies. I drove 15 kms to get to this place and paid 18 bucks for a whole chicken that tasted like roast chicken from coles.
Potato wedges were worth the price though. I won’t go back there again
Very late service had to wait more than 30 mints for Uber order still haven’t started making the order
Customer servicing is zero, especially and strangely from the owners. One of them who is shorter than the other one, staring at the customers with a creepy look. Normally and definitely the owners must take care of customers better than staff but in this shop is quite the opposite.
Kerim is a arrogant disrespectful human being. Highly wouldn’t recommend looking for employment here big time waster
Looks like the new owners are trying to lose customers. Ordered and paid for a full tray of lamb, unfortunately they ran out. So they cut up less than half a chicken - overcooked it to beyond dry and tried to substitute it. The poor young staff were left to try make amends while new owner ducked away. No way I was going to upset the poor young kids so called when we got home. Owner extremely rude to boot. $24.50 for totally inedible food. Not returning. Ever.
The lettuce was the highlight in what was the worst chicken kebab I've had in my life. I would have accepted the dry untoasted bread and even drier chicken, if the kebab has even an ounce of flavour. Take it off the menu.
Amazing charcoal chicken and salads are the best. Best I’ve had. Fresh raw vegetable salad is always exceptional.
Chicken and chips were nice, the coleslaw was dreadful. Staff are completely inflexible. I asked to switch the coleslaw for a Greek salad and offered to pay the difference but they said we aren't allowed to do this. Very expensive for what you get. Still deciding whether I will go back. Underwhelming.
Always a family favourite.
Have been going to Chicken On Charcoal At Bolton St for many, many years.
It has a wonderful reputation in Eltham and it's sounding suburban folk.
Always cooked to perfection with dietary options for everybody.
An easy weeknight dinner option from the menu,
Pack 3 with 1/4 chicken. Delicious!
Still great food, but the staff always have their masks below their nose or chin. If they can't get that simple right, it calls into question whether they are following the health regulations for keeping a clean kitchen.
Love the chicken and it's gluten free.potatoes are yum and gluten free so is the delicious potato bake. I'm coeliac & never been sick at all from here.
Serving sizes are generous and the food is nice. This place came highly recommended by friends in the area but i have been consistently disappointed with the dryness of the chicken.
Ive enjoyed the HSP and other sides with no complaints
The food is good but the staff do not wear gloves to prepare food and during covid when masks rules are in place for all not one staff member wearing a mask I have been going to this shop over 15 years sadly will not be going back health is more important than taste
Love this place! Been eating here for 15 years. Chicken is lilydale and cooked perfectly, sides are so tasty. Love the rice and pumpkin slices!
Loved the decor and the artwork so promininently displayed and integrated into the very menu boards. I was a little concerned at the steeper pricing compared to other local and chicken shops I've been to - $16.90 for a full chicken did seem a little much. However once I took a bite out of that tender and beautifully seasoned drumstick I could see where that extra money had gone into and it was worth every cent. For those of you are HSP aficionados you won't be dissapointed here especially after a few drinks.
Here the food really does the talking!
