101 food service fail. This was all done right in front of us at the food service counter, can only imagine what happens in the kitchen where customers cannot see.

Also the chicken was really dry. We've had too many disappointing experiences here, that was our last visit.

I informed the girl on the cash register. Can l have no paparki spice on my chicken and chips.
My meal was already, lucky l checked my meal. Guess what? Paparki on my chips.l told the same staff about my chips. So the staff made me fresh chips.

Tried twice, chicken taste like a woolworths roast chicken, bland taste with a hint of chemical.

Still to this day theres only one charcoal chicken I have had that doesnt taste so processed and chemical laced. I wony say which one here at risk of my review being deemed intentionally inflamatory.

Nice people working here but you can just taste these arent trully free range pastured chickens.

The chicken smells and looks good, can be more tender and juicier in the breast. Salad is tasty. Chips are hot and crunchy. A good quality for this price.

Always get something wrong… literally always! And Chips are either salt less or too salty to the point of being inedible.

Accepted my UberEats order. Waited 40 minutes only to then get a notification “we cannot fulfil your order” How about not accepting the order upfront if you can’t fulfil it. Would you take an order of a customer in person, make them wait 40 mins and then tell them they have no meal? Very poor customer experience.

I’ve lost track of how many times I’ve been here over the years, but it must be 50+ times over 12 - 15 years. It used to be (apparently) owned by an Albanian family that made their own secret herbs and spices and I would loudly and proudly tell anybody who would listen that it was the best chicken and chips in Melbourne. It can be a bit hit and miss and it all depends on who’s working. There’s 2 older guys (maybe Indian backgrounds?) who have been there for ever and they know exactly what they’re doing and run a tight ship. Front of house seems to be a revolving door of young and inexperienced girls who maybe aren’t up to the pressure when it’s busy. Today was one of those days, during lunch rush as the boys must’ve been on break or had the day off. When we eat this kind of stuff and make specific requests regarding crunchy chips and extra chicken salt, it matters. We don’t eat junk food that often, so when we do - we want it perfect. Chicken was cut into 6 or 8 pieces, not 4 as requested. Chips were not crunchy as requested. Only a little chicken salt on the top layer of chips. Not huge issues as the food was edible, but as I pointed out, we don’t eat junk food often so when we do eat it, we want it perfect. Today was an absolute waste of calories and the irritable girl with the spray tan didn’t help the cause. Worth checking out if the boys are in the shop, otherwise give it a miss. Disappointed rant over.

Returned after an absence to place an order. What a decline in standards!
The 2 chickens were dry and dehydrated after being over cooked and the same could be said for the chips! Very disappointed!

I love the savoury food.

The moose has tiny orbs of gelatin that feels SO WEIRD, do not eat if mouth sensitive. Have eaten it on several occasions, months apart, always the same.

Walked from Heidelberg to Eltham and came across this place on the way. 10/10 worth the walk.

Not sure what you guys did to the chips tonight but they were phenomenal. Super crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside, hopefully you’ve done something new and wasn’t just luck? Have been a regular for years, rarely have a bad meal, thank you!

Very good place for a very tasty charcoal chicken, cooked to perfection. A great selection of salads that you can see have been made with fresh ingredients. Friendly staff and more than reasonable prices.

The best charcoal chicken EVER. Hands down. No doubt. Grab a salad while you're there and you will be in heaven. Also available on uber eats but was driving past - I was in and out in under 10 minutes. Reasonably priced for free range chicken and quality food. Around $12-$18 per person. I chose a half chicken pack that fed 2 people plus an extra chips for a third. Why are you still reading this? Go and order!

The chicken was dry and almost inedible. The gravy had no flavour. The chips were pretty good but not amazing. Pretty disappointing all round.

Well this place has changed. Ordered a family pack. Chicken was dried out and tasteless. Peas were cold. Gravy was watery. Chips were okay. I won't be back.

Chicken was awesome, food slow in the cooking. Get more deep fryers. Chips worth the wait though.
