Castello's Victorian Tavern

We went in to drink coffee, the chai latte overflowed from the cup and flooded the small plate. We were also invited to leave the table at 3pm to set the table for dinner. We could have consumed more! And other people had just sat down to drink. He was very rude. The staff in the room were eating and drinking drinks in front of customers. Nice venue but poor service

Lovely atmosphere great service. The only thing I can fault is my steak which I asked for rare and it came basically well done. Other than that keep up the great work

Good quality food, peaceful atmosphere, relaxing. Nice sports bar outback near bottleshop, 2 good pool table's.

Meal was excellent. They have seniors meals as well 20% off a main if you choose that. Very well priced.
Definitely go back again.

Noisy, renovations being carried out as well as the dining room being quite small didn't help the situation.
The vegetable soup was excellent, the battered fish was very soft & oily, the chips were also oily.
No complaints about the staff, who were very helpful and friendly.
May try again when the renovations are completed.

Dined here on several occasions and always satisfied with the quality of the meals. Great sized portions and good quality food. More than pleased with the service, the staff here are always so humble, friendly and welcoming. Fine dining in a warm welcoming friendly environment.

Excellent service beautiful meals good value for money too, friendly bar service with a variety of drinks on the menu happy staff all around including from John the manager special thanks to kelly in gaming for making it a more fun friendly atmosphere very helpful & friendly. Will be going here again for sure such a happy place & nice atmosphere to have a meal play some games in a relaxed happy environment keep up the good work.

Had a great night at the tavern on Saturday night. We had booked a table which was good as the place got busy pretty quickly. The food wasn’t magnificent but was certainly ok as far as pub tucker goes. The great thing about the night was the staff! Friendly and couldn’t do more for us. Of course we had to go and drop a few $ into the pokies, no surprise, no big payout, but a good night had by all. Definitely be back.

The staff here are lovely. The food was really nice. It was a very busy day we went on yet the staff still were great.
The play area could be better and have more for toddlers.

Some time back.the Nasi Goreng disappeared off the menu. Now it's back better than ever. Aside from the personal taste view the staff are accommodating and friendly. It's a regular for lunch.very relaxing.

I visited this place today at around 3: 15 pm to enjoy food with my wife and old parents-in-law. I have been at this place a few times before and love this place as I work in Gisborne. We visited here on Saturday from Melbourne suburbs. A lady, appeared to be in a supervisory position was not very welcoming and seemed a little angry while asking us for vaccine certificates. Me and my wife showed mine and I told her that we are getting our parents’ certificate from home via a message in a couple of minutes. Then she completely ignored us and did not come back to us. I showed all certificates to the other girls who were happy and helpful. I did not see her checking anyone else’s certificate. Food was yum and the waiter girls were awesome. Girls that served us drinks and food were amazing. Wait staff was Polite and smiling. Hope this lady will be smiling, showing respect and treat every customer equally and with a smiling face when I visit next time. I support country and local businesses that’s why I drove
45 minutes to Gisborne to VicTav. Thanks to the waitresses and cooks for hot and fresh tasty food. I may give you 5 stars when I am received by a smiling and welcoming staff. Cheers.

We enjoyed dinner here and found the staff very attentive and friendly. The atmosphere was welcoming. We shall definitely return.

Went there today during happy hour, and bought 2 schooners and 1 x VB Stubby. Got told by waitress schooners were $5 each during happy hour, got charged just under $22… so close to $12 for a VB stubby Wow.

Tasty food, convenient ordering system, good space, clean toilet.
The cauliflower fritters are a good enough reason to come back here, and for only $10, we definitely will.

Tracy was like a superhero without a cape, with the special powers of serving, clearing tables, finding people tables and answering the phone, simultaneously. Oh, and with a smile. Food was great too. We'll be back.

Nice pub with wholesome meals, not a great deal of choices but nice tasty meals at reasonable prices

Three of us booked in for dinner on a Wednesday night and the service and food was great. Even with the menu items less than the previous menu a year ago the quality was still there.

I have been coming here for years and on an average the food has always been really bad. We only come because family like the convenience. This time I was surprised. Everyone's meals were enjoyed except for the schnitzels which were dry.
Prices aren't cheap but one doesn't mind if your food is good.
Service and staff are always good.
I hope they keep up the good work, enjoy

We had a lovely lunch here. I had the home made gnocchi which was amazing and my hubby had the chicken Parma which he enjoyed. The meals are a generous size and it has a lovely atmosphere. The staff were polite. Overall a nice place.
