Castello's Victorian Tavern

Was a Great place to meet friends and have a lovely meal. The other day the place was so noisy we had to leave, we were crowded into a small area and in the end the screeching of peoples voices, gave me a headache. There was plenty of other empty tables available. Further more since my last review the wine and other drinks have increased considerably. $17.50 for a glass of wine? $5.50 for a glass of soda water. What a rip off, you can buy a bottle for that. Place now over priced and wont be returning.

I booked for a special table with leg room because we had a person that is disabled and in crutches. When we arrived apparently someone else was sitting on our allocated table and they refused to move. The waitress then cleared another table in the middle of the room with limited leg room. This was very disappointing the people that took our table should have been TOLD to move! The cocktail drinks were disgusting, tasted like medicine and the food was extremely dry with no flavour. Not going back there again that’s for sure!

Really great service. Great food, and we didn't have to wait long despite them being quite busy.

The Nachos Supreme hardly had any meat or cheese and was very very dry with heaps of CCs and the Caesar salad was ok nothing special' Chips were good at least

Nine family members enjoyed lunch last Sunday.
All meals enjoyed, especially the steak and chips.
Staff friendly and attentive.
Have booked for Christmas lunch!

What a wonderful evening, Trish, and the staff at the Costello Tavern went over and above, made hosting my function such an ease, with an amazing setup, table service, and food! Such a great atmosphere, looking forward to hosting my next private function outside of our usual visits! It's a shame I can only give 5 stars!

We all enjoyed our meals. The seniors meals were generous serves and the staff were friendly and helpful.

Great for kids because of the playground. My wife's steak was cold. My meal was just ok. Was very busy Saturday night. Convenient though.

Great play ground below average food and over priced. More than happy to pay if I receive quality.

Meal was nice well priced, the waitress was very helpful with our order, just one little down fall that a few parents letting there young kids run wild around the meals area when the waitress was bringing out meals to the tables or when going up to the bar to get some drinks, maybe make a later time slot

We went for a Sunday lunch last week and all of us thought what a nice renovation this has turned out to be. This is in prime location to be making good profit in this area, if they can just wow their customers it should be pretty smooth sailing in future.

Unfortunately the food was well under par.
The steak looked appealing on the menu but I'd take marbling score with a pinch of salt. The economy steaks you can get at Woolworth are better then what I received.
One of thee biggest mistakes with
cooking steak is not seasoning it beforehand and that's exactly what it tasted like. Also extremely chewy but the proper preparation before could have aided this.

GRAVY!
Why cany restaurants make their own GRAVY? The last thing you'd expect with your (marbled) steak is packet gravy.
Even more confusing as I ordered mushroom sauce and received packet gravy with 3 little mushrooms thrown in there.
It's also very easy to make a creamy mushroom sauce. I put this down to pure laziness.
Others on my table had similar experiences but I can only speake for myself.

Nice renovations. Very clean & welcoming friendly service. Great food / we will be back.

How disappointing. The char-grilled 300g scotch fillet, medium rare, arrived dry, cold, and inedible. It was so thin, it would be pushing to make a 150g. The porterhouse that arrived at the table was the same. In all honesty the worst steak I have had from a restaurant.

Had a lovely lunch. The staff are really nice and attentive but not overly so. Food was really nice, I had the lamb souvlaki. The bread was fresh and warm and the lamb was tender and moist. It also has nice decor. Would recommend.

What a treat to come back to the vic pub after so many years, the food hadn’t dropped by expectations as I remember it just as good as the day we left.compliments to the chef for the amazing food and the floor staff for taking care of myself and my father. Great to see you guys back in business

Newly renovated and looks lovely. Food fab also PLUS they have a new kids play area that is huge

I was at the victorian tavern on friday night and the customer service was great! Emily which was our waitress was fantastic and was super nice and made sure everything was perfect! Emily put a smile on all of my family faces. The food was amazing, and we will definitely be going back!

Highly recommend since the reopen. The food was beautiful, great choices, plenty of vegetarian options too. The service was exceptional and look forward to going back

Not good in any way. Food appaling and bar person didn't even know what a riesling is. Lots os staff but nobody knew what was up. Not going back.
