Carousel Café reviews
50Nice place. If you are eating here, make sure you eat before or you will afterwards. Limited food bits and pieces.
From the moment we walked through the doors we knew Carousel was the perfect wedding venue for us! The views over the lake were such a stunning backdrop for our ceremony and our guests loved the delicious food, the impeccable service, and of course the lovely scenery.
Daniel was a stellar events manager who made every effort to understand our requests, communicate responsively, and help ensure that everything ran smoothly on the day, which made the whole process as stress free as planning a wedding can get.
We'd thoroughly recommend Carousel as a wedding/events venue and secretly hope our friends will get married there too so we have an excuse to revisit (: Thank you so much Daniel and team for making our wedding day truly special.
(p.s. If you're getting married here, the dessert table is 100% worth it! Do it!)
My partner and I were lucky enough to experience the Lakeside Carousel as part of our ticket package for the Grand Prix Formula 1 2023. We had 3 day tickets (fp, quali & race day) and every single day the staff at lakeside carousel were friendly, welcoming and very hospitable. On race day afternoon (Sunday) we had a very pleasant conversation with Vonny (hospitality and event staff manager) about our experience - many compliments are to be paid to the staff, with particular recognition of their ability to go above and beyond for the patrons (whether it be providing food/beverages, cleaning tables/event space efficiently, and providing help with directions and locating amenities). I highly recommend this venue, and can’t wait to come back and book again for the GP in 2024.
Where has the giant carousel gone? They're used to be a very large turn table in the middle of the main floor, but it seems to have disappeared.
But this is still one of my favourite venues to shoot wedding ceremonies and wedding receptions. I see that the brides and grooms love the experience. Especially the views:)
Beautiful setting and scenery, from Albert Park overlooking the lake towards the city and setting for the Melbourne GrandPrix racing
Carpark is not free and cost up to $5: 60
Fantastic view. Very good service been provided by team. I will definitely recommend this venue for everyone who wants selebrate wedding. Thank you.
Staff 5 stars or 10
Facilities 5 stars maybe 10
Catering brilliant
From woe to go everything ran like a Swiss clock!
Exceptional!
Perfect view nice and calm. Staff are amazing specially Isabella,
Egg Benny was not the best I had but it was good and big portion
Attended a wedding at Carousel and was rudely told that there was no baby change table. The staff told us we should go and ask the bride and groom to use their room.
Ended up having to change our babies on the floor in full view of guests eating dinner.
Ridiculous that there is no baby change table. Baby bunting has portable change tables for $100. In the meantime, please consider not being rude to parents who have enough to deal with
Someone needs to teach the bar how to pour a standard 30ml drink. This is whiskey with ice in it. Pushing 10ml of whiskey. Disrespectful to the hosts of the wedding
Food was great at a wedding there but I remember sadly what this place used to be. No Carousel to be found.
Went here for a function.
The food was nice enough, just really tiny portions and the alternating meals were vegetarian and fish, you got what you were given. No chicken or beef dish.
We were meant to have coffee service but the staff couldn't get us or quick enough so only 2 of the 10 tables were served.
Drink service slow.
The staff were otherwise very friendly. Beautiful venue right on the water, great big entry and are to mingle.
Great venue to hold your next function. Over looking the city skyline from the shores of Albert Park lake.
My favorite place to hang out over coffee and brunch. Foods are okay, there are more to here than just foods.
There's currently a great pop up called Lakeside at Carousel which has excellent seating and a huge TV to soak up all the Tennis action.
It's a great place to detour during your walk around the lake.
Food is pretty average quality, drinks are a bit overpriced but the atmosphere and location are excellent. There are heaps of chairs, tables and recliners, or BYO picnic and set up on the grass (but beware the swans!)
The view is great but the staff was not very friendly or helpful. I lost my prescription glasses this morning (Feb 2nd, 2021) while having a coffee and when I returned to find them the guy at the counter refused to take my phone contact in case someone returned them “because that is not really what they do”.
I hope he knows how hard it is to go about a normal day without being able to see anything.
Don’t waste your time. Half the lunch menu was sold out and it took just over 30 minutes to prepare two cheese toasties for our kids.
Plenty of other better options nearby in Middle Park like Hot Honey.
Amazing city view by the lake, swans come close to the deck from time to time. The atmosphere is better than the food: p
Lovely venue.
Staff are fantastic and friendly. Brilliant view as well.
Don't leave small children unattended around the swans lest they be eaten
Lovely for the summer. You can book as great social distance catered for outdoor picnic. Awesome food with lots of healthy options and variety. Good coffee. Evenings would be a nice place to have a drink outdoors with friends.
