Captains of Industry reviews
50Had the haloumi pickled beetroot with a extra side of scrambled eggs and fresh oj. Yummo! Beautiful ambience tucked away, worth seeking it out.
Great atmosphere, good and timely food, a little pricy but overall worth the visit.
It's a little confusing to find so you have to pay attention but it's a really nice brunch restaurant to take people to.
One of the best hidden brunch gems of Melbourne (and I've tried A LOT of them)! Completely obsessed with the divine asparagus which I think about constantly. Good coffee, nice ambience, lovely staff. Cannot wait to get back to this quiet little funky oasis overlooking the heart of the hustle and bustle soon.
I have had so many fabulous lunches at Captains over the years. So pleased to see them back making the most of these times. Still yummy, and coffee how I like it. Thanks “Captains”
I adore this cafe. Friendly staff, gorgeous food, prompt service, and beautiful coffee.
Hairdresser Sam is incredibly talented. The whole venue feels like home. I could lose hours here socialising, or just with a coffee and a book in the corner.
If you ever want to go to a quirky place that is a Café, a Bar, and a barber shop, then this is the place for you!
Once you walk up the stairs, you are greeted by vintage decoration, lots of old sewing machines, and a friendly staff at the bar.
Their menu is probably the biggest I’ve ever seen, and it’s carried around by the staff.
We ordered the Halloumi Burger – avocado, chutney, tomato, beetroot, rocket; and Triple Cheese Toastie – tomato, chutney, gruyere, bocconcini, cheddar, basil.
I loved the burger as the halloumi was nicely grilled & the combination of all the veggies went very well with it. As for the cheese toastie, it was mild, and could have been better. Just tasted like an average cheese sandwich. Coffee was decent.
Delicious meals and big portions for great value. Coffee was great and loved the rustic feel to the venue. A hidden gem in Melbourne CBD for sure
Magic Mushrooms and coffee were lovely! The space certainly has unique decor and I hope to return on a 'lazy day' to soak up the atmosphere more.
I was personally starving and in a bit of a rush, and just wished that the service was a little speedier. But as it was a Sunday, I did try to remain patient! Happy to say that the food was worth the wait!
Warm cozy place, friendly staff, nice food and drink. Used to be a hidden place but it became so popular? Sometimes, it is hard to find a table to seat.sad thing for me but I am happy for them.
Such a hidden jam! Stumbled across this place looking for breakfast and wasn’t disappointed. Amazing customer service from the moment of entry, delicious food and very funky ambience.
Delicious breakfast, definitely recommend the avocado smash! Relax and enjoy while overlooking Elizabeth Street
What an absolute gem! I met a friend for an afternoon drink and we had a quiet spot by the window to watch the city bustle by. They have a great wine selection and the service was amazing - I think it maybe have been the owner?
Will definitely be back.
Greatful atmosphere, coffee, food and services. Definitely recommend once you come to Melbourne.

Gorgeous spot, great coffee, delicious lunch every time and charming service - my favourite city lunch spot by far.
Great place to grab a bite, good quality food and reasonably priced. Their steak sandwich is cooked to perfection. The venue is not noisy so it’s ideal for catching up with friends, casual business meetings etc.
Good coffe, spaceous café. Friendly staff. Neat interior, the style is old school and inviting. Had a view of the street. Would recommend this place.
Such a great vibe! I felt like eating in a stylish workshop. The food was very tasty - a great combination of flavors. The staff are friendly as well.
This cafe epitomises central Melbourne for me. Quirky entrance in a side street, leading into an old industry building, with a cafe among the workstations. The food and service was also excellent. Good mix of non/vegetarian options. We had a triple cheese toasties and a Halloumi burger. Honestly so tasty. Put it on your cafes to visit. You won't be disappointed
A hidden cafe with a leather goods manufacturers shop within. This workshop/ cafe combination gives the place a neat hipstery vibe.
Excellent coffee and great range of lunch options. Funky setting with a barber and leather works shop situated inside the cafe. A hidden spot in Melbourne CBD but absolutely worth stopping in.
