The atmosphere is nice and the brunch is delicious. The avocado and poached egg toast is especially delicious. It's the best brunch I've had in Melbourne!

Came in for a coffee as we explored Melbourne’s cafe scene. Definitely one to check out, as they serve their own special blend of coffee. As you sip, you can check out their leather crafting room, barber shop, and a variety of other cool art and signs. Definitely a unique spot in the city and worth a visit!

A hidden gem… great coffee, toasties, ambience, great for groups, couples and singles. You can start with brekky and continue on to lunch with a glass of wine… for men, there is a barber to attend to your hair if you need a haircut…

Excellence in hospitality! Plus a barber & a leather worker as a bonus too! Great chili scrambled eggs without the cheese & bacon was very yummy after my journey from Rushworth. Very enjoyable Bonsoy flat white coffee to match. Interesting decor too! Nice friendly smiling welcome. Well done to everyone on the team!

Tucked away on the second floor of an unassuming building in Melbourne, this coffee shop is a hidden gem that's worth seeking out. Its location might make it a bit hard to find, but once you're inside, you'll be glad you made the effort.

The atmosphere is a delightful blend of antique elegance and modern style, creating a cozy and inviting space where you can escape the bustle of the city. It's a perfect place to unwind with a book or have a quiet conversation.

I'm no coffee expert, but I can say that their drinks are enjoyable and well-made. What truly stands out, though, is the ambiance. With its unique decor and comfortable seating, you're sure to find a spot that suits your mood.

In summary, this coffee shop is a peaceful oasis in the heart of Melbourne. If you're looking for a serene place to relax and take a break, don't miss this second-floor haven.

Captains remains a firm favourite. Perfect for a quiet catch-up with friends for lunch or a solitary coffee overlooking Elizabeth St. Generous and friendly service and delicious cafe fare - the haloumi burger is difficult to go past. Long live, Captains of Industry.

What a spectacular cafe. Loved this place. Ambiance was wonderful Coffee was excellent the service was first class and friendly and very genuine staff. Food was wonderful too. I can’t fault this cafe. I was only disappointed you weren’t open on Monday when we came back again but I’m coming back tomorrow as we are from Sydney and there’s not much holiday time left.
Thankyou so much

Repeat visit here and it was as great as I remembered last.
Menu has changed a bit since last time but still as tasty and amazing.
Ordered a Hemingway (club style) and pear & blue cheesewith goat's cheese and added bacon sandwich which were both sensational and coffee superb.
Another diner nearby had the magic mushroom dish which looked fantastic and I did have a bit of food envy there.
Service lovely and on point

A pretty hidden coffee bar on the 2nd floor of the building behind some wooden doors. I couldn’t find it at first so watch out for that!

Coffee is great and it’s in a maker space where leather artisans create and sell their goods alongside a saloon. Great vibes with ample seating too!

The BEST espresso martini I have ever had, lovely vibe and lovely people. Nice place to sit at the window like a cat and watch the people stroll bellow!

What a cozy, hidden gem in the busy CBD area. Make sure you don’t miss it! Awesome service, good coffee, delicious food that will make you lick your fingers, and lots of friendly smiles to make you welcomed. Not to mention the industrial/vintage/wanna stick around vibe

Always have loved the coffee here and would come here for the smashed avo. Great ambience too. But service has gone downhill. Left after not getting served. Won’t be coming here again.

During the Melbourne Laneway's tour, the guide pointed out the obscure chalkboard in Somerset Pl where CoI was located; the guide described how the café was an amalgam of barber, cobbler and café. Quirky, and comfortable like a pair of worn-in boots is how I'd describe CoI. Nothing pretentious, just honest quality food and coffee. I'll be back!

Coldest beer fridge in town! Always love having a refreshing bev at Captains!
Great people watching from the window seats. Delicious sandwiches!
And! They have an excellent barber and leather worker on premises too!
