Cape Otway Lightstation reviews
51Just because you can see a lighthouse in front of the ocean does not justify a price of 20$ for an adult! There is also no ocean view possible from the parking. Pure rip-off! Better visit the Castle Cove lookout. There is no lighthouse but a very nice free ocean view without any robbers at a dead end.
Really worth having a look and reading the history. The views from the top of the lighthouse are unreal!
Fascinating visit and well worth the entrance fee. (Discounted tickets available at Bimbi Park camping site) Good coffee at the lighthouse cafe.
For a 20 aud ticket I don’t feel I got to see much. The picture of the tower from afar is pretty however any picture taken from the tower could have been from any cliff on the Great Ocean road. Also it is super winding in case you thought of flying a drone
Worth the drive. A little over-priced for what's on offer. But I understand that this is a major tourist attraction.
If you want to see the night sky brightly lit by infinite stars, this is the place to be. When the night falls at this place, there's an eerie silence and it's pitch dark. The only light seen is that of illumination on the Lighthouse and nearby houses, which we were fortunate to rent for a night. We got a entire house for $600 (3 years ago). The house had everything that one need to settle down. Kitchen was full with utensils and other necessary ingredients. The cafe closes by 5 PM, so if you need anything ready-made you have to make it to the cafe before this time, as it is the only nearest when night falls. Believe me this is the eeriest place and the same time the best place to be. Visit the lighthouse area in night time. All you hear is the ocean and nothing else. It is so serene, calm and quiet that we all loved being there. Though a bit pricey, I would recommend one should try once. The cafe buddy helped us a lot (we were out of many spices, which we found in his kitchen) that day and as he was the only one staying back in the cafe, we invited him for the dinner. He was so happy and enjoyed the time with us and vice versa.
Great place to go with the family. The lighthouse is interesting and I really enjoyed the indigenous section. The food and coffee from the cafe was amazing! The girls in the cafe were lovely too.
Unfortunately though, the lady at reception was quite rude towards my partner and myself which made us feel unwelcomed. Due to this, we don’t think we’ll be coming back again. But the place itself is well done!
Entry price was 20ish for adults witch was really high. Nice place to visit to get a better understanding of how communication and navigation system was back in old days. Interesting view from top of the lighthouse.
Old telegraph house was interesting, watch the video.
Amazing panoramic view from the top of the light house. Another view point as well for whale watching although didn't see any whales. But its a great view point. There is a place where you can know history about how first people visit Australia. Also you can see old equipment they have used. The person who is in there explained a lot about the history. Great place to visit if you are going through great ocean road.
Don’t think they should charge entry at all. Not worth what you pay. Other than the light house itself there is nothing else worth looking at. Price should definitely be lower
A beautiful place to visit, breathtaking views and a nice little Cafe.
The guide in the lighthouse 'pam' I think was very knowledgeable and a happy chatter.
Recommend a visit if in the area
