Bun Cha Co Dao (Vietnamese)

We are so lucky to have you guys in Melbourne! My favourite Vietnamese place for soups. By far!

Used to be really good few years ago, and now is just Ok. The meat balls and pork belly grills in Buncha is average, 5/10; Nem is even wet inside. They also used to use the authentic thin rice paper film for wrapping then moving on to 'ram' - an alternative, not as good.
I won't be coming back here for a while

We had Bun Cha Ha Noi and braised quail sticky rice that were terrible. The pork patties were dry/not fresh; like they cooked it a long time ago and reheated in the microwave. The sticky rice was tough and undercooked and the quail was dry and salty. We told them about the sticky rice and then the waitress said 'pay first and I will have a look' without saying sorry. Which is so rude. Not recommended!

Incredible bun cha. The dish was simple and straightforward but the flavour and texture of the food were on point. My Vietnamese friend said the dish is authentic and has a solid good reputation amongst the Vietnamese community.

Great selection of Vietnamese street food dishes. Love their bún ốc (escargot noodle soup) and one of the best bún chả in the area.

Absolutely to die for traditional grilled meat dishes from Vietnam. There are plenty of Vietnamese restaurants to choose from in Footscray, but definitely with a try for something different which the others aren't dishing up

Delicious dishes. However, fish sauce is getting worse recently. Its watery. Please adjust it. The smoothies are the worst due to bad quality tropical fruits in Australia. Only avocado smoothie is accetpable

This place makes the best bun cha I have had outside of Hanoi, it is perfection!

I’ve tried a few other menu items and they are good. Not amazing, but they are good.

But I like a restaurant that specializes in one thing and does it to such an incredibly high standard.

I’ve grown to absolutely love this place for its bun cha and go there nearly once a week over the last couple of months.

Very impress & much classy quality fresh dishes, not like any other ordinary viet restaurant.

They had a change of owners a few years ago. Used to be such a lovely place with lovely people. No more though. The current owners are very hostile who also happen to hate kids and food is very average and way overpriced for such stingy portions.

The place is in a perfect location just around the corner on Paisley Street. The food I ordered was ok it's probably because I'm not a big fan of fish sauce. I'll definitely come back and order other items next time.

I have been looking for a place that reminds me exactly of my best culinary experiences in South and North Vietnam and I found it! Lots of fresh herbs, authentic bun cha and ‘nem’, plus dishes you don’t see elsewhere. Highly recommend it.

Average tasting food. Very small portions.
But the one star is for the very hostile owner who is very nasty to other Vietnamese customers.

You have to try the flat noodles with pork (dry dish) and the beef wrapped in beetle leaf. I dream about it it’s that good. Also great service and one of the few places in town that serves corn milk. Highly recommend.

Came here specifically for the Bun Cha and I wasn’t disappointed. Was going to get the bun cha ha noi but the bun cha nem comes with spring rolls so I went for the upgrade. Food came out surprisingly fast (approx 10 mins). So much different herbs in the salad. The grilled pork & pork patties were well cooked and seasoned. Felt full afterwards but not bloated, I could eat this over and over and not get bored of it. The free tea was much appreciated.

This place is a real gem, great qaulity food, so tasty, the best Vermacilli pork salad ive ever had, the pork was amazing! This place will be my new regular

Not sure about other dishes but I ordered a BBH from here on menulog and it was quite possibly the worst BBH I have had in a long time.

We ordered chicken pho, beef in betal leaves, and a pork dry noodle with spring rolls. Everything was delicious. The chicken had skin on for extra flavour and two quail eggs. But the durian smoothy had no flavour at all. The jackfruit smoothy had a small amount of jackfruit flavour. Otherwise, a memorable meal!
