Loved this place, obviously popular with the locals and tourists! If you like Thai, you'll love this restaurant. I was still eating leftovers two days later out of the fridge. In a word "AWESOME".

A delightful Thai restaurant to add your list of culinary visitations. The staff were very friendly and the meal was served quickly.

This resturant is situated in the heart of Stuart St Ballarat. It is a large restaurant that can accommodate both small and large groups. There was a wide variety on the menu and having recently returned from Thailand I felt the flavours were true. We started with an entree of Duck Pancakes which would have to be the 2nd best I've had, only beaten by those in Beijing. We then had Pineapple Rice with Chicken, Coconut Rice and Angel Prawns all very enjoyable. A lovely bottle of wine a couple of beers and some coconut juice finished off the meal nicely. Would happily eat here again.

It’s unusually quite large for a Thai restaurant. The food is good. Whenever we have time (-stop over on the way to Melbourne), we will stop and dine here.

Finding quality vegan food when you're travelling can be disheartening, if not soul-destroying, but not this time. The Brown Grain Thai food is exceptional. Fresh, light, satisfying and incredibly tasty. We had spring rolls, Golden tofu, pumpkin curry, cashew stir fry and fried rice. It was absolutely lovely. We enjoyed local beers and wines and were looked after by Savannah, who was an incredible ambassador for Ballarat. Top notch, five stars

My brother arrived from Perth and as by tradition we shared a meal together on his first night over.
Yes staff were welcoming and pleasant, but things slid from there. Food just ok.
One entree arrived and could have been eaten before the other arrived. But Lo and behold it arrived with the rice for our main course. What?
We shared two mains. The seafood was generous but the chicken dish was laden with verges and I did question herbs.
Not sure that I’ll go a back and from experience the restaurant across the road was much better.

Have been a couple of times with friends and family and will continue to make this one of my regular eateries. Service is friendly and fast. The menu has a great range of dishes to choose from, including several delicious vegan options. Meals are flavourful and fresh. I can't recommend this place highly enough.

Have been there on our day trip to Sovereign Hill. The food was delicious, the staff was polite. Have ordered Pad thai rice, the only thing that can be improved is the service, I've to remind the waiter for our order but that was very busy day and peak time. Good experience overall.

I visited Brown Grain a few years ago and it was annoying me that I knew it wasn’t in Ballarat but after researching I learnt it was in Warrnambool and the owners sold that business and it became Red Spoon. Back then I recall telling my partner it was one of the best Thai places I’d dined at. Fast forward to tonight and they are in Ballarat and it was just as I remember. The attentive service by the young ladies was great from the moment I walked in. I was greeted and asked where I’d like to sit. Given a menu and water and took my order when I was ready. My roti came out super hot and was delicious with the satay sauce. I did have to wait a while for my main which was Massaman Lamb and coconut on the side but they were quite busy with a few big groups that were there before me. In saying that, the roti came out really quick and was able to tide me over. My main was beautiful, lamb was tender and a decent size too. Banana Fritters were a treat as well. Will be back!

Visited this restaurant on my trip to Melbourne a week ago, the service was friendly and welcoming.

The waitress serving us had doubled checked to make sure all our meals met our dietary requirements and also made some excellent dish recommendations.

The Coconut milk soup was amazing, it was flavourful, creaming and tangy at the same time.

They also made The Larb Tofu without the fish sauce to met our vegetarian needs, it was bursting with flavours from the herbs.

Will definitely consider this place if I ever revisit Ballarat again.

On a solo photo walk around Ballarat taking a few pictures and found this delightful Thai restaurant in Sturt St.
On entering the restaurant I was greeted by the very friendly maître de. Being a solo customer I was shown to my table for two which had a view of Sturt St.
The menu was presented along with a verbal list of the day’s special.
I chose a Pad Tai with chicken. My refreshment was a Guinness Stout and the customary bottle of water, which was most welcome.
The meal was presented in a very reasonable time and looked very delicious.
As it was the lunch opening there were only a few customers but this did not detract from the excellent service.
The Pad Tai, the Stout and a coffee came to $24.50, which I thought was good value.
