Brown Brothers Milawa Vineyard reviews
84Had a fantastic tasting experience with Russel and a Scottish lady. They made us feel welcome and warm with their experiences of the great wines. Unfortunately, we were then treated very poorly by a person named Josh, who rudely asked us to sit somewhere else, shortly followed by a very rude conversation about leaving the winery. Josh needs some customer service training and shouldn’t be at the coal face. Destroyed an otherwise great experience.
A great experience turned sour. Our group did an excellent premium tasting and purchased multiple bottles to take away. But, after the tasting we were spoken to rudely by a particular staff member (twice), who delivered unnecessarily blunt messages and seemed to be fishing for arguments with customers. He literally informed our group that we needed to leave (as a wedding party was taking over the grounds) by shouting from meters back “don’t pour another glass” and snatching empty glasses off our table - then stood at the table arguing and pressuring the group to down what was left in their glasses (how’s that for responsible service of alcohol? !). If I wasn’t in shock I would’ve returned our purchases before leaving. After spending multiple days winery-hopping in the region, I’d recommend visiting other wineries where customer service is a priority. After this poor experience Brown Brothers is now a brand I’ll actively avoid in wine stores.
Fantastic winery experience, with large & professional facilities.
A range of wine tasting experiences from 5 varieties for $5 to hour long, premium experiences.
Professional, knowledgeable, & informative staff who are happy to speak about their products.
Food available onsite.
A short hop from other Milawa staples like cheeses & olives, it pays to visit Brown Brothers.
We are visiting the region and thought we have been drinking their wine for over 50 years why not drop into Brown Brothers for a sampling.
Only to be told we can’t sample the wines unless we go on the internet and book a sampling time.
Guess what you can stick you winery where the sun doesn’t shine, I won’t drink anything you make again and I certainly will spread the word.
Highly recommended. We booked a premium wine tasting session ($20 pp) and worked our way through every option we wanted to try - of which there were heaps! We also scored 20% off our purchase which paid for the wine tasting. Ask for Gail, she’s a legend!
Wine tasting experience was excellent. The male salesperson didn't seem that interested. But the lady who took over the tasting experience was excellent. She was so helpful, explained about the wines, friendly and professional. I couldn't remember her name. Checked the receipt. To my disappointment it had the male sales person's name.
We came here for tasting. We could choose 5 different wines each, so tried a variety of wine. It would have been nice if we could sit down though. Place is pretty cool but it’s not like fancy as looks.
A wonderful educational experience, Gayle, (stormy), was excellent. Experience was highly recommendable.

A lovely cellar door to stop at in the area. Beautiful grounds. Only downside was they accepted our group of 5 for a tasting but the staff were preoccupied with other groups so it was really slow and noone to talk to us about the wines.
Great experience on a premium wine tasting session with the lovely Leanne from brown brothers. Got some great insights into brown brothers wines. Definitely worth the price
Good wine tasting experience, thanks to the 2 ladies who explained everything throughout. Disappointed on guy on photo we ordered 3 boxes of wine & requested for paper bags as we liked that it had Brown Brothers on it and perfect for gifts but when we arrived home, he only gave us plain paper bags. Also did not offer help to carry the 3 boxes on our car which had to go back and forth to get it. When leaving I saw another staff who helped a customer bring it to the car on a trolley. Great experience but was let down on the end by this staff.
Really yummy food, service was good once it got going.
A shame they couldn’t accommodate us in the tasting room, would’ve been a great way to end the lunch.
Thank you Shirley for our tasting at Brown Brothers today. You're experience helped guide us through your delicious list of wines. We left quite happy with our purchases. Would highly recommend.
Attended a very affordable wine tasting with 7 other friends. The cost was $15 per head (more than reasonable) and this gave us approx 18 different wines to taste. Incredible value but definitely recommend having a designated driver.
Beautiful winery and surrounds. The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful, even when we called in at 9am.
As part of our weekend away we managed to do a pit stop at Brown Brothers, the rain didn’t stop us.immersed in their wonderful wines and jams we had to buy a few more and enjoy the experience.
Some of our favourites were the Prosecco; Moscato; and various red wines. We couldn’t resist the Prosecco; Cienna and Mascato jams (yum, they go great with our scones). The group stocked up on wines and jams as part of our stop and we’re looking forward to being back next year to enjoy the menu presented at the restaurant.
Staff were extremely friendly, heart warming and knowledgeable. Such a wonderful team out there who welcomed us with high spirits.
Great meals with high quality service. Staff go out of their way to share their own experiences making the Brown Brothers Winery a highlight of the region.
We did one of there tours that included wine tasting, tour of garden and cellar and lunch - and all was great. However the standout was by FAR Bodie the Chef. His knowledge, innovation and culinary skill was honestly some of the best I have ever come across, and I frequent fine dining institutions regularly - I honestly was surprised as I wasn't expecting this calibre of food at Brown Brothers. Im no wine expert but regardless of that, you must try this place for food regardless, total props to Bodie.
Sadly due to covid, they were not offering wine tastings. Still, staff were very friendly and discussed how they hope things will be back to normal in the summer. Was still able to pop into the shop and buy a few items for family (e.g. Jam and sauces). Decided not to eat lunch here as was too pricey. However, the whole place looked very sleek and modern Would love to return for a wine tasting experience.
Good food, great wines, nice place, and unbelievably rude staffs.
Over my 100+ reviews, this is the first 1-star review for business. Mind blowing service indeed. Salute.
