Bodega Underground reviews
46Went there for dinner without a booking, fully booked on a monday evening! Had to walk around and wait 30mins for a table. I thinke we were lucky, all people coming after were turned away. The food was amazing! I can understand why it’s popular
I’m from San Diego and haven’t had Mexican food this good since I lived there. I absolutely will come back for brunch!
Hands down the best bottomless brunch I’ve ever been to (and I’ve been to a few)! The staff were AMAZING, so friendly and brilliant at their jobs. The food was delicious and there was SO much of it. We couldn’t finish it all between 3 of us. The drinks were perfect - so many options of great cocktails to choose from, we were never left waiting with an empty glass, and they flowed & flowed. Have been recommending to everyone and would definitely return if I’m ever back in Melbourne. Oh & the whole menu is gluten-free which is fab! Also vegan options for everything.
Ordered the soft tacos, corn, churros and a couple of cocktails. All arrived extremely fast and with friendly service. Fish tacos were really yummy. Atmosphere was vibrant. I would go back for sure.
Unsure why the staff were so unwelcoming and only interested in talking amoung themselves, however it was off from the get go. We were directed and left seating at the bar ignored for longer than comfortable. Directly in front were 3 staff (kitchen included), chatting happily. We got ourselves water, selected our food, and then proceeded to watch the bartender slowly clean down while chatting. We left after realising we were not welcome and they would rather socialise amoung themselves.
Unfortunate, disappointed & still confused as to what actually happened. I would have liked to be able to try the food & drinks and can not comment on its quality.
Fantastic food. Loved the vegan Feed Me option. Very friendly staff in a welcoming place. Good for groups
Very average food. Lacked flavour. The service was even worse. They didn't have enough forks and were waiting for the dishwasher to finish its cycle is what they told us. And while saying this they didn't even think of taking forks from another table and giving it to us. 3 staff members asked us to wait for the forks. I then suggested to give us forks from another table. There's was just no intent from the staff to serve. I would never go back to this place.
Great food, very busy, so waiting on drinks for a while on a bottomless brunch can be challenging
Lovely, knowledgeable staff and always delicious food
If you need a quick bit or want to settle in for a long dinner, they got you
The pre-theatre menu was beyond our expectations! The whole menu is gluten free and absolutely delicious. The staff were attentive and the food was prompt. They were having lots of fun in their work too. We pushed our limits to include dessert because it was that delicious. We're already booking to come back with other friends like 10/10
Get the feed me or bottomless value for your money! Wasn't expecting much but themed cocktails are friggin bomb!
Not sure what the hype is all about
The food was less than mediocre and we didn't get our drinks until we almost finished our meals
Everything about this place is great! The ambience, the decor, the staff.and of course, the food. We got the Mushroom Empanadas, Guac & Chips, and the fish tacos to share between the 2 of us. That, plus one round of drinks and dessert worked up to just under $50 each! Left feeling very full and happy.
P. S.the staff truly add to the experience. Very kind and friendly:)
Brilliant Saturday Brunch! The food was delicious, there was more than enough (struggled to finish) and drinks were great and were served quickly. The only small issue was the noise level. We went to the 1.45 sitting and it was full of hen's parties who seemed to be shouting/shrieking at each other the entire time (there wasn't a guy in the place - haha), apparently the sitting at 12 and 3.30 (?) isn't as crazy. I would definitely book the earlier or later session next time.
Bodega Underground, Little Bourke Street. I've tried a couple of times to get a table, as this place is always booked solid. Tonight was my night and it didn't disappoint. Service was fast and friendly. The menu had a multitude of delicious dishes. The build your own 8 hr slow cooked beef tacos were a highlight as was the green pea guacamole on the fish taco. It's not a cheap Tuesday, but if you're looking for something a little special, this will tick the box. 5 out of 5 Tacos
Great vibe, fantastic service and even better food. Really good vegan options and their cocktail list is awesome. The bottomless brunch is also one of the best ones I’ve been to in Melbourne.
Really wanted to enjoy this place but I can't say I'll be back without some improvements.
The fried chicken wings were fine albeit three wings for $16 between two people is a little gratuitous and an awkward number.
Told 15 minutes after ordering that one of the items we ordered wasn't available. Not the end of the world but don't know why the waitress didn't know when taking orders or why it took 15 minutes to find out.
When I saw birria tacos I assumed they'd be the pan fried kind but unfortunately not. No negative points for my mistake but they only served the birria with four tortillas. There was probably enough meat to double the number of tortillas. There was also no salsas available on the table or offered. Ended up needing to eat the rest of the meat with a fork.
The mushroom empanadas were probably the highlight.
Last when I ordered another beer it took about 10-15 minutes to arrive without it even being that busy. By the time it arrived we had finished eating and wanted to leave.
Wouldn't take a lot for it to be a lot better.
(Have been to Mexico)
Two people in our group were sick and couldn’t attend. They charged $55 per person for not showing.for a situation that was out of our control! Will not go back.
Delicious Mexican and a HUGE range of quality tequila. If you want, the guys there can take you on a whole journey of tequila education and enlightenment.
Great spot with excellent mix if staples and twists. Reasonably priced. Beer selection was surprisingly good. Will definitely be back
