My wife and made reservations and dined there on the weekend of May 21st 2021. Our reservation experience was great, and although we arrived a bit early to be seated, we enjoyed a couple of cocktails to warm us up. The staff there were fantastic and helpful with wine choice and despite being pretty busy were never too far away. I ordered the onion soup to start and mine arrived lukewarm. The flavours were pretty bland and I was unimpressed with the level of sweetness in the dish. I’ve spent years traveling through France and devoured onion soup all over the country, I was expecting something more from such a renowned eatery here in Melbourne. I then ordered the cheese soufflé and THAT was very nice! I then enjoyed a main of beef cheeks with a side of grilled broccoli. The beef was rich and dark and tender. I enjoyed it greatly.broccoli is broccoli, at least mine had shaved cheese over it! We then shared a brûlée for dessert, again mine arrived with a warm sugar top but cold underneath. I understand that sometimes this dish can be served warm with only a hot sugar lid as it were, but mine was clearly just out of the fridge and unpleasant. But having said this, it was still delicious. Overall the value is fair, but I would be sure to keep an eye on other tables and judge your food accordingly.

Although on the expensive side, (especially if you've decided to host dinner for 8 people), the ambiance, friendly staff, quality food & drinks justifies the expense! Would love to visit again with my significant other for a good treat of French cuisine, and hopefully the expensive bill will not be an issue

Very good atmosphere and ambience. Perfect date night restaurant. My partner and I had the steak. The meat was absinthe but the taste was just put off by excessive charring on the bottom. The tartare was a killer.
We have been here before and will definitely go again.

From the moment we arrive we were advised to do QR code but they didn’t tell us which table to sit at.then they took our temperature even though it was fairly warm. Finally we were seated and we were given bread with butter and sea salt.wow.first set of bread was cold.still nice but NOTHING like the second one which was warm and made a huge difference. The waiter who took order for drinks and meals was amazing. How he managed to remember who order what was amazing as there were six of us.

Three of us ordered duck the other three steak for mains.
My steak was medium rare.which to me personally was more rare than medium but for my partner it was perfect. Food was absolutely delicious. The only comment I have is that the menu does NOT tell you that the steak comes with chips
so we ordered chips on the side not knowing this and ended with an abundance of chips.

Dessert was amazing! Entrees were great too. The cheese soufflé best shared unless you are not intending on having a main as quite filling.

Finally out waitress gave us the wrong bill to pay, we gave it back and she brought back the right one.when she asked how we would pay.my partner said “I’ll just tap “. She looked like she never heard of this top and proceeded to ask if that was credit.so.in the end.we ended finally paying for our meal.and that’s the only hiccup we had.

We had one EXTREMELY loud table behind us.but other than that.atmosphere was nice.seats comfortable and very nice service. Highly recommend but allow about $100 per person if you are having drinks too.

The entree special, Royal Miyagi oyster from Tasmania was simply amazing. So fresh, plump and full of flavour! The Wagyu Steak was tender and cooked to perfection. We also had the special pumpkin and the mango dessert to top it all off. Cannot fault the food at all. The restaurant itself has really nice lighting and feint background music creating a relaxing and romantic ambience. Cannot remember the waitress that looked after us but her service was exceptional.
Thank you to the Bistro Guillaume team for looking after us. Can't wait to come back.

I can't believe 5 star restrauant likr Guillaume served my entree with a hair and all they can say is sorry and misplaced our dessert order and had yo wait for dessert. I wasn't expecting a free meal but surely they could have offered a complementary of something as gesture. It a restaurant i wouldn't like to go back

The food, staff and atmosphere are fantastic.
Only Issue is that it was a very long wait. Having said that it was a warm Saturday night and we were walk ins.
They made a mistake on our order and quickly rectified it.
Also great with kids!

This was amazing French cuisine at Bistro Guillaume. Would definitely come back again. The staff were amazing!

Utterly utterly disappointed in what was meant to be a special night. At the price point of this restaurant - service was completely unsatisfactory.

Was previously a regular diner at Bistro Guillaume. Standards of service were inexcusably poor this time around - drinks took 15 minutes to arrive, wrong orders delivered, hair in food, plates served over other diners or whilst not everyone was present at the table, steak delivered well instead of medium-rare as ordered. Waiters were abrupt the entire evening, bill was incorrect when delivered, took 10 minutes to correct and then when we wanted a copy of the bill at the end of the night, the waitress had already thrown it in the bin.

Food was satisfactory, but not as amazing as had been in previous visits. Definitely overpriced for the product delivered.

Atrocious. I made the mistake of commenting that my $39 main course of Swordfish was extremely small; the fish was thin and not much bigger than a dollar note. The response I received was a smug smirk of disbelief, followed by abject avoidance for the rest of lunch. Overpriced, precious staff and slow service. Move on and make way for a proper restaurant you clowns.

I had a main and a dessert at this French bistro. The main I had was steak frites, and I can honestly say it was the best steak I have ever
had. The steak was juicy, flavoursome and tender, and the frites were very good too. For dessert I have passion fruit soufflé, which was also very good, as the flavours balanced each other out and mixed well. I would come back here again and would recommend it.

So disappointing tonight. Lots of different servers who kept asking the same questions of us. Got quite annoying. Mash was cold although they did replace it with a massive serve. Then a different server asked if we enjoyed our meals. Well you would know if we had the same waitress. Used to be so much better. Seems average and over priced now. Steak wasn't amazing either. Such a shame.

Was very satisfied with their food and services. The toasted sour dough was perfect, the medium rare steak was perfectly cooked for my liking. Sauce of the fresh oysters was delightful.

This french bistro is overrated and expensive in our opinions. The service was not bad but not attentive enough, the steak was tough and the charcuterie board is average. The star of the night was the French fries.

My partner and I were there today for lunch and he asked for a medium steak and it came out blue, he was to ashamed to send it back so he just ate the chips on the plate, we payed $150 for our meal and it was disgusting something you would expect from a pub in your local aria if not worse, for a crown meal you expect more but today was very disappointing I recommend not eating there.

We were a table of 6. The table was squeezed into a corner so it was not possible to reach the back right hand corner at all. We experienced the worse service in our life. The waitress was rude and had smart nasty replies to any questions. She lent between myself and a the lady sitting next to me to serve, clean or pour wine at least 20 times. We were interrupted without any words and left looking at her armpit. She was irritable, as though it was our fault and her behaviour was appalling. We will never go back and travelled to Melbourne for the cup. Unfortunately we were with a large group of business people for the weekend for the restaraunt, as our opinion was discussed at length.

Have been going to this restaurant for years and have always rated it very highly. However tonight was so disappointing. Sardine entree was bitter tasting and the pork main course was tough and very bland. The waiter mixed up who was having the pork and steaks and then it was a guessing game as to which was a rare and which was a medium rare steak as they both looked the same! Staff were not as attentive as usual even though the restaurant was not even half full Think this is one to cross off the list!

Good service, wonderful food. Especially loved the raw entree special (goldensand snapper tartare), the souffle and the Wagyu steak.
