A really nice.comfortable stay.

Cons: Not the most kid friendly place, but I knew that before booking. Originally planned to go to Bendigo but it was full.
Games room was really ordinary. My 10yo laughed at the selection. Its a small park, with not a lot to do in the parks boundaries.

Pros: Theres plenty of wonderful monuments and atteactions within a short drive. Theres a brewery in walking distance. Thers a lovely park next door with ducks and ponds. There is a brewery across the road. I also note there is a fantastic brewery nearby. Historic town of Maldon is a short drive; ice cream and lolly heaven! I didnt see a brewery there, but there is a really nice place to shop in The Mill when you get back to Castlemaine.conveniently located next to the brewery.

A great caravan park with lots of facilities to enjoy camping in a tent, caravan or a cabin. Located adjacent to Castlemaine Botanical Gardens, local outdoor pool, bush walk/cycling track and the Mills artesian food and craft precinct ensures that there is plenty of activities for all ages to do whilst staying at Big 4 Castlemaine.

After being charged $54.00 for a site for one night only, that I could not get my caravan into I was not very impressed, after my wife went and spoke to the lady in the office she gave us a different site and it was impossible to get the caravan level, but I suppose when you have no opposition in town you can charge what you like, we will NEVER stay there again.

I wanted a simple, clean, comfortable and affordable place to lay my head while in this beautiful town, and it hit the mark. Bed was really comfy and everything met my needs. Thank you so much for the great service

Stayed at the bell tent for a Saturday night. Easy access when you are provided with instructions. The staff were attentive. The room was clean and cosy. The park is well maintained. The toilet & shower were a bit of a walk but manageable. Had to chase up check-in twice but overall a great experience.

Most friendly and welcoming staff with the heater on in our unit upon our arrival. That's service! The unit was superb and an ideal location for adjacent eating places.

We are always happy to stay at Big 4 Castlemaine. Love the view over the gardens and the birds that visit us.
We enjoy meeting new people and talking with the very friendly staff of the park. Apparently this was our 30th visit. I think it is actually a few more than that!
Love Castlemaine 2 hours door to door for us. There are some excellent restaurants in the area too.
Also a good place for retail therapy.

Lovely spot, good vibes, nice facilities. The only issue was a big streetlamp right over our tent that didnt turn off at night!

Stayed in the glamtainer, such a cosy, wonderful stay. Very modern interior and bathroom, loved the deck area and view. Would love to come back and stay.
With walking distance to the mill, location was great. Highly recommend

Very nicely appointed and maintained cabins and caravan park. Didn't see much of the owners, they seemed a bit flustered with how busy they were. It's a nice town with some things to see and do. Convenient coffee and meals not far from the caravan park. Nice communal kitchen and firepit.

Communication; or lack thereof really ruined our holiday experience. Last year we enquired if they allow fires, the response was a clear yes, no indication of restrictions under certain circumstances or times of the year, (many other parks do allow all year round except total fire ban days of course).
We stayed there last year and had a great time, so great that we booked again on our departure for full 7 days over Easter.
We had a large group & booked 8 sites, majority families with kids & grandparents.
Having had 2 previous bad experiences with parks changing ownership and fire policies without communicating this until arrival, I double checked (within the 30 days of no refund policy unfortunately and full payment on booking) to then be told it's a fire danger period as per CFA's current status and no fires.
Not once had they proactively communicated this to existing bookings. However, the CFA do allow camp fires under certain conditions, all of which were easy to comply with but they chose not to manage it and just blanket ban them, their policy not CFA's.
The weather was also very cold & often wet.
As a result we had 2 families choose not to come.
The other reason we loved the park the first time was we parents could sit at our sites (around the fire) and watch the kids on the jumping pillow which they used for hours on end each day.
Upon arrival we notice the jumping pillow removed and replaced with a volley ball net and single soccer net on sand.
We choose the parks we do based on the features advertised / enjoyed at the time of booking.
I find it extremely deceitful to not communicate a change of park amenities, especially to those who had a booking before these changes took place.
If we weren't locked in with the non refundable full amount of nearly $600 we would have not gone. We did not get what we paid for. Poor communication and feel robbed.

Over charged $80 per night with discount and had to stay 4 nights. Told it was due to school holidays. Person next to us booked in for 2 nights and paid $52 per night. What's the reasoning here?
Very small area for vans, unable to put up annex as ground too wet. Left 2 days early due to being so annoyed.

We stayed in a powered caravan site that was perfectly accessible! Easy to park up, close to amenities, which were fantastic by the way, and check in was the easiest we have encountered. From the lovely lady who answered my phone call to book in to the guy driving around on his golf cart (who was the friendliest person we have met in the last 12 weeks of travelling and we have met some friendly people!) we felt welcome. If you are ever in Castlemaine, don’t go past this Big4. Well done guys! If I could vote for a Big 4 winner, you have my vote! And NO! I am NOT a relative!

Very good stay. The amenities are kept clean. The staff work very hard and are keen to help. Emma is great with the kids activities. My boy loved her. A playground for the little ones would be a great addition.

Clean park, good facilities. Roads a little tight for larger vans but a good time had by all. Great location. Just out of town but close enough to gardens to enjoy a nice walk

We were there for a family wedding, a couple of date changes, were dealt with by the very capable staff. Cabins and Glamping tent were very well presented. Here's a bird.
