Beatrix reviews
64Amaaaaazing cakes in a cosy environment. Also a short walk from North Melbourne OR an easy tram ride away from Flinders!
Great selection of baked goods in a clean space. Service is genuine and kind. Easily some of.the best tasting cakes around Melbourne. Red velvet cake, pistachio lemon Curd and chocolate sour cream cake are must try.
We’ve been going to Beatrix for a number of years and it’s only going from strength to strength.
It’s bright, cosy and serve stellar food + coffee.
Sorry about the half eaten cake photo. This was the first chance to pause for a photo; with a mouthful of cake of course
Only offered one size of takeaway cup, ordered a latte which was essentially warm milk. Not impressed
A nice little street-side cafe with attentive service and very yummy cakes and good cafe. What more could you ask for on a sunny day under the trees. The road can sometimes get busy but not often and it’s one of those post-industrial areas of Melbourne CBD that might get overlooked and, for that very reason, worth going to. The weird mix of beaters on the wall are a highlight and the other customers an eclectic range.
Outstanding cakes and coffee! Recommended to get their carrot cakes, sponge cakes, and try their sandwiches!
They use sustainable packaging and coffee cups as well - extra point for that! Will come back for sure!:)
Very nice cakes, the place is a bit short on space. The sun cream for use on the tables outside is a great idea, good on you guys!
The quality of food here is terrific. Take the length of queues as a reflection on how good it is. Always delighted to see the lemon tart in the display. Love that they post their ciabatta menu on instagram each day and you can text in an order to cut down on waiting times. Wish it were open on Sunday but I’m happy to have it as a Saturday ritual instead!
Gorgeous little spot. Ever-changing menu of cakes, all homemade. Just a shame I didn’t have long enough to try them all! Sponges were so light and full of flavour - all bakes were quite sweet. Not a bad thing, you just need a sweet tooth! Nice touch to provide sunscreen, and coffee in vintage teacups.
I struggle to think of any food that makes me happier than Beatrix. Constantly I'm having to move up my bar of what is delicious. The mandarin chiffon cake has been a highlight. The only problem is that we live entirely too close!
Food and coffe is nice but waiting 20 minutes for essentially a ham and cheese sandwich is a bit long.
Best cakes and treats in town, and darned good coffee too. Breakfast menu is excellent. And it all comes with super friendly service.
Great little Cafe in North Melbourne more of a cake shop with limited indoor seating. They do have outdoor seating. Came on a Saturday to a lineup to get in. They are closed on Sunday. I wanted to go back as the coffee was delicious and cookies amazing.
Best bacon and egg sandwich I've ever had! Glad this is my new local, cakes look beautiful and delicious.
Great service, pretty decent coffee and they nailed a great chicken avocado sanga with some strips of fried chicken skin for texture and flavour. The light and fluffy passionfruit sponge cake was just the right amount of sweet and made the meal a perfect experience
The Quintessential Cake & Coffee shop of Melbourne.
With the most minimal of signage, and equally minimal seating expectations, Beatrix has some of the most tantalising and creative cake slices in Melbourne.
I literally wet myself upon the first bite of the Cherry Ripe Shagg! The cake variety is shuffled around daily and it'll take repeat visits to catch 'em all.
Keep your eyes peeled for the Chocolate Roulade, Brùléed Caramel Cheesecake and the Notorious BFC.
The staff here also should be greatly commended as they are so darn sweet, do such an amazing job and make up Beatrix's friendly warm vibes.
My favourite.
The cakes are just the best!
The hot food is petty good too.
Coffee is passable. Could be better for Melbourne standards.
It is a small place though, seating is very limited.
But cake!
What a bunch of grumpy and grubby looking woman that work at this coffee shop!
Most unwelcoming coffee shop in the area. Shame on your ladies.
And consider opening earlier than 0900 on a Saturday.
My goodness. The sandwiches are to die for. I had the slow roasted lamb shoulder, the Mrs and friends had patatas bravas. Both so good. Dessert wise, stay away from this place unless you're looking for a ton of stuff to be addicted to. I raise my hand here, and a belt buckle
