Beatrix reviews
64Delicious pistachio and lemon curd cake with brilliant coffee! Being your own travel mug is taking away
Beatrix offered a variety of freshly baked cakes that were moist and delicious. They were rather dense but I suppose that was how traditional sponge was. I loved how you could find classic baked goods like banana cake, carrot cake, cheesecake, chocolate cake - no mirror glazing, no perfectly round moulded chocolate shells, no mousse-based creations - only real cakes here. We tried their ciabatta sandwiches and they were also very flavourful. The only downside was there were limited seatings available.
One of the best cakes I've had. Friendly staff and awesome cakes. Their cakes makes any day better than how you started it.
Been here almost on a weekly basis since my first review and Beatrix never fails to amaze
Don't believe the hype.
I was unprepared for the 30 minute wait, however as I had heard such amazing things about this place, I thought it would be worth the wait. It wasn't.
We ordered multiple cakes for a function, some sandwiches, and some savoury pastries, and they were okay. Just ok.
Nothing special and, in my opinion, certainly not worth the wait.
I went to Beatrix this past Saturday to collect some cake slices for a special occasion. Every cake was delicious but I particularly loved the coconut rough cake. Be aware that there was already a decent queue before it opened so leave yourself enough time to get cakes! Definitely worth it.
I love Beatrix so much I could cry! The queues can be long on a weekend or public holiday but they are always, always worth the wait! The cakes are seriously the best in the world. Oh, and you must try the savoury sandwiches and pastries if you get the chance as well. Love that they always have veggo options so I never miss out! Nat and the whole team work so dang hard, especially throughout COVID to make sure we all get our cake and coffee fix. I can't even imagine how stressful the logistics of running a small bakery during the last 2 years must be, and the team are always efficient, respectful of their neighbours and customers, and the consistent yumminess of the food and coffee has never changed a bit! Will continue to support this amazing business forever! <3
Found the cookbook in a bookstore and wanted to see the store. I flew into Melbourne recently and had the opportunity to go there. I wasn’t disappointed. My cousin and I lined up (worth the wait) to purchase a medley of things to try.
Next time I’m down I’m ordering the Peach cake…
Fabulous fresh creative cakes, friendly team, and the efficient ordering process makes waiting in line outside an actual breeze. Worth the drive in for some fab baking!
Beatrix is known for their cakes and tarts, but recently I found out that their pastries are also phenomenal. They are comparable to the other famous croissant places in Melbourne, certainly better than the much hyped up Lune! And that speaks volumes! The Escargot was amazing - light, flaky, buttery, fragrant and so much flavour! The prosciutto, basil and tomato danish were also SO GOOD!
Beatrix is such a beautiful shop. There hasn’t been anything I’ve had from there and hated. You can check out their current selection on their website. I miss the pre-ordering days of lockdown as I hate waiting in line but I totally get it! Worth a trip from wherever you are!
Varied and interesting daily menu. I ordered the Peach Alabama, Potato Brioche Donut and chocolate cake. I'll most definitely be back to see what other amazing treats Beatrix whips up.
Best cakes in Melbourne hands down. They're super popular so there's always a line. Rotating menu but my favourites are the lemon tart, fruit sponge cake and roulade.
Beautiful baked goods, super helpful staff. Efficient pick service just wonderful selection with beautiful flavours.
I look at Beatrix's instagram every single day and dream of eating all of the lovely cakes, even though I've only been able to visit twice. Last weekend was one such happy occassion when I picked up a Chocolate Sour Cream cake for my friend's birthday. The order and pick up process was simple, and I was surprised to see that the line was actually quite reasonable had I wanted to purchase something more! The cake was absolutely delicious, every bite absolute heaven. I will day dream again until my next trip to paradise.
PS. I've also got the Beatrix recipe book at home and everything I've tried has worked perfectly and produced equally delicious results.
I’m pretty sure that was the best chicken sandwich I’ve ever had. Everything was balanced so perfectly.
Shocking behaviour from the staff. Not hospitable at all. Business set up doesn’t make any sense. For a place, that only sits three tables… and do not offer any take away cups for drinks or crockery it’s design is simple non functional.
We had two tables for about 6-7 people, and while waiting for our 3 guest and consuming our food we were inform that the owner wanted our table back as she wanted to give it to other guest. We were seated there for about 20min and as a first in best dress model we were then inform that our puppy was whining and needed to stop.
Next then she asked for us to give up the tables. While awaiting our other guest to arrive 5min or so to order.
We informed her about the situation. It left us with an awful bitter taste in our experience. We came with our toddler as well and no customer service were offered but was told to basically leave after 20min or so… no crockery no takeaway cups for beverage. Not sure what the rave is all about.
Shameful customer service and hospitality from the owner herself.
Shame… Shame.apparently other have also notice the lousy experience with her other staff too.
Poor management planning.
The reviews really speak for themselves - the cakes are really awesome and extremely delicious.
My only feedback would be in relation to the service, unfortunately I never feel welcomed here, no matter how nice or welcoming I am. It’s quite disappointing and that in itself doesn’t make me want to come back. Others that have attended around me have expressed the same view - that part is really such a shame.
めっちゃ美味しいケーキ屋さん。
Lemon pistachio cake was fabulous! All the cakes I've tried from here have been great.
Had a lovely experience buying my first slice of cake from Beatrix. Lovely staff, making my experience super enjoyable. Thanks for brightening up a lockdown Friday.
Managed to get our hands on their daily special, Date-a-misu. The Bavarian pie with chocolate mousse was also delicious. The best thing about their cakes are, they are fresh, moist, and not too sweet.
Round 2, tried their Carrot and Red Velvet cake. Their Carrot cake is just amazing with subtle nodes of roasted walnuts taking cake to next level.
