BBQ-K Glen Waverley reviews
62 The manager (some guy wearing a grey suit jacket and glasses) was dismissive of our group when we arrived at the restaurant on level 3 for dinner, mistaking us for another booking and then making us wait for an extended period of time at the front service desk before being seated despite us having an online booking well in advance.
Luckily he corrected and realized his mistake, but after reading other reviews on here knocking his behavior and the owner's replies to them he should realize that his approach to dealing with paying customers isn't the best if he's aiming for customer retention.
Good food at this place, but service needs improvement
Cost around $50 a head for 6 of us. Portions were small and left still quite hungry. You can't really fill up on Kimchi and pickled onion and bean sprouts. Some of the meat was a bit chewy. Great service though but that didn't quite compensate for the small portions and average food.
Staff were all absolutely lovely, the cocktails are incredible and the food is superb. The menu is a bit pricey but it's obvious you're paying for quality here with juicy fried chicken and perfectly done meats. Highly recommend the daiquiri, the steak and the Korean fried chicken, I will absolutely be coming back
Good (our regular) Korean BBQ place cooked over real charcoal.
We always get the Wagyu set with some sides (seafood pancake, fried chicken japchae beef) which are also very good.
Prices are reasonable for Korean BBQ. One my kids' favourite place.
1 star deducted as they use disposable chopsticks, plastic cutlery and paper cups since Covid. I'm tempted to passive aggressively bring my own cutlery and glass. Rice portions are also materially smaller than a few years ago.
Note, if you're booking for a group of say 8, they may put you in the private room but won't be cooking in front of you. This may or may not suit you so ask for a booth if you wish.
Went back again because the food was good on my birthday on 21st. The girl who served us spilled the soup from the casserole on me and my son and she did not even apologise.
Not a bad resturant the food is pretty good and the kbbq uses charcoal which is nice. The sets are nice and fulfilling compared to some other stores that only give meat with no sets. Much happier here than last time at Hinoak which has no set menu with stew or other add ons. Great for group bookings but a tiny bit pricey.
The waitress holding 100 °C hot chicken soup in one hand, sloped some onto my thigh and burned my skin. But the waitress didn't realize the seriousness of the situation. Although the manager apologized to us and gave us free dinner, we didn't pursue any further responsibility. We hope the restaurant can train the waitress seriously, We didn't pursue any further responsibility. We hope the restaurant can train the waitress seriously, otherwise similar things still will happen in the future
Everything about this place is perfect, from the food to the customer service.
Came here for a birthday and the staff made us feel so welcomed and comfortable and the food was so fulfilling.
Definitely be dining here again and will be telling everyone i know about it.
Had an amazing experience. Had some of the best steak ever. The owner Dong is super nice and made it a very welcoming experience.
Best place for Korean bbq in Melbourne. Good is great, staff are phenomenal and will ensure you have the experience.
It was a little pricey for my liking but it was definitely worth the money spent. Great dinner!
Loved the food and service here,
my son Travis took me there,
it was so good, I will be back soon, yumm
The food was delicious however the service was less than perfect. The young staff who delivered our meals were great. Very polite. The staff who cleared our table, also great. Unfortunately their good service was overshadowed by rude waitress taking our order. She walked off several times as we were midway trying to order to what appeared to be yelling at/diecting younger staff. Clearly not focusing on the customers in front of her.
Dong is the best. I love this place. Best food and number 1 customer service. Definitely coming back many times ️
Came here with a large group of friends for a birthday and was well looked after. Nice atmosphere and good food. Owner is nice bloke too!
I’ve never had a bad experience here, the food is always delicious, customer service is great and the manager always makes us feel very welcomed. Probably the best kbbq restaurant I’ve been to.
Note: *staff offered that they will cook the meat for us. *
Ordered two set of meat and only 1 plate arrived to table. Second meat plate didn’t arrive after 20 mins and they said that’s it. I showed the menu what I ordered and then they delivered the second meat plate. Staff went away from BBQ table and when she come back the meat was burnt. I requested to either replace meat or cut the over burnt edges. Staff say they can’t. Spoke to the manager but the owner came. He said “ this is how we cook” I said these are over burnt. He did not listen had aggressively try to cut the burnt edges (in-front of my wife and kids). If you are the owner and you didn’t simply listen to the customer and you should simply accept it. Terrible experience and will not go there ever again. Prices are extremely high. Service. Avoid this please if you can.
Photo was taken after serving the bunt meat and you can see the BBQ wire plate how hard it was burnt?
Definitely a good place in Glen Waverley, the food is good, the staffs are nice. However the soup is way too salty, and the menu is short.
One of the WORST restaurant I’ve ever been in entire Melbourne. I called them to make a booking and the default answer is “we are fully booked. ” And they will never say a thing after this short sentence. OK, I see you are fully booked, but what about next day, or next week, next month? Are you fully booked forever? This happened to me TWICE. What is the point of having human staff there if you only need a robot to repeat same thing over the phone all the time?
First time here with our oversea guest. Im glad we were not disappointed. Such amazing food and service. The staff even cooked the meat on the grill to perfection for us with a smile. We are belly belly happy! Well done BBQ K. Pls maintain your high quality food standard and service. We will be back!
