Bamboo House - Northern Chinese Fine Dining Cuisine in Melbourne CBD (Chinatown) reviews
68 Amazing food but this time the duck, was t up, to the mark.
But the pepper chicken was delish.
Fine dining Chinese at a reasonable price. All dishes had different flavours and each stood out on its own. Service was as good as the food. Clean plates were provided after each round, loved it. Overall our dining experience was quite good.
Watch the $85 sting! In support of CBD restaurants who have been hit hard by COVID we decided to dine in the city on Saturday night. We chose Bamboo House. After being seated and ordering food and drinks for four adults we were advised that there was an $85 per head minimum charge. We understood the need to leave a deposit when making the booking but would have balked at this charge had we known beforehand. We ordered a substantial amount of food but was then advised by the staff that we had another $100 to spend! No rationale was given for this charge and when challenging it staff were very rude. Not a good experience.
Staff got very violent, and started throwing cutlery at me. Found a hair in my rice, I would recommend hair nets for the staff that cook the meals. Never comming back do not recommend.
My favourite spot for amazing Chinese food. Best Peking duck in Melbourne. Great service as well, which is now not the norm in most restaurants.
I love that we don’t feel rushed and we can take our time to enjoy our meal.
I have been eating here for over 20 years. The food is fantastic as to the service. Oysters, Scallops, Dumplings, Calamari and Duck. If there is room for dessert there are also a few favourites. The place is run by Anne who needs no introduction. You feel at home the minute you enter to the minute you leave. The wine list is extensive and whether you are looking for a family affair, business or couples location, the different break off rooms cater for all. Great location, great food, great service. Anyone i have taken or introduced keeps returning.
Simply outstanding for its food, this one. The quality and taste of their main meat dishes was outstanding. The starters and little bites offer a good variety that’ll tickle one’s taste buds too. Not a heavy alcohol selection, but they get away with some decent cocktails and wines. Thumbs up for this one.
This place made me achieve heaven. The Peking duck gave me the sight of God. Highly reccomend if you want to truly feel out of this world. It is the closest thing to drugs.
I visited Bamboo house and thoroughly enjoyed the degustation menu. I found the Peking duck and rib eye steak particularly enjoyable. The wait staff were excellent and attentive. 5 stars.
Food and service was excellent but night was spoilt a little bit by a table full of drunk men who were getting very noisey as the night went on
If you want a great experience with food to match then come here. It's an experience coming here and you won't be disappointed.
Have been here with a group of friends and was a tasty dinner. We were seated immediately. The restaurant is clean and the prices are not bad at all. The peking duck was tastier than other peking duck dishes I've had at other Chinese resurants. Would recommend the Bamboo House for your next dinner
BEST CHINESE FOOD EVER. Tremendously tasty food with attention to detail, wonderful flavours, and courteous staff.
I heard this is the place to go to for the best dumplings and Peking Duck Melbourne has to offer! I have interacted with the owner of the restaurant and her hospitality is impeccable. Melbourne is very blessed to have this authentic Chinese restaurant establishment as one of the fine dining cuisines for Asian food. Keep up the good work!
The Peking duck: it's delicious. Crispy skin served through each pancake. It's only pancakes though, inline some other restaurants that do various courses with the meat.
We did not have to pre-order the duck.
Went there with friends and had a fantastic dinner! Tea smoked duck with the buns were fantastic! Prawns with veg and mushrooms were cooked to perfection. Service is great! Most importantly, it kept to the old school high class Cantonese Restaurant Service and taste in food. Highly recommended but be aware prices ain't cheap.
A Big. Big disappoint. And a big rip off.
Very poor service. Had to wait one hour just for starters. Don't go there.
Excellent food and service. Good wine choices. We had Peking duck (half portion), spring rolls, ginger grilled chicken, and rice - all excellent.
We ordered one of the banquets in the menu. I found that the dishes are authentic. The service is good and friendly.
I’ve been a loyal bamboo house customer for about 15 years. Last night was my first time back for about a year. (kids happened). I hyped up the Peking duck to my girlfriends (also mums - lol u know how hard it is for us all to get out?) and was really looking forward to it. We ordered two ducks and the first was chewy and luke warm. The second was hot but definitely no where near as good as I remember. The duck meat ratio in each wrapper was overwhelming. The service was down right rude and we got the hand gesture (“don’t bother me, I’m busy” kind of gesture) multiple times - when asking for a menu, when asking to order. It wasn’t just the one waiter either. We got served attitude from multiple waiters. Disappointing service. And a steep bill to pay at the end. Won’t be coming back. You’ve lost me bamboo house.
