Avenel Roadhouse

The food was so cold I had eaten it by the time the coffee was made. Wednesday night is a very busy night on the highway but they only had 1 person serving food, coffee, takeaway and orders. Definitely not doing this one again

The guys here were so friendly and accommodating for dietary requirements - will definitely stop here again when driving through. Thank you for the great food!

I wouldn’t stop again for the coffee. Forty minutes down the road the coffee had cooled down enough to drink but it really wasn’t worth the wait. Weak and milky.

Waited over 35mins for 2 plain steak sandwiches, to be told they been forgotten and had lost the docket. They finally brought them out and they were that tough, we could hardly eat any of it. Terrible service. Won't be back.

Great place to stop on the Hume highway. Good friendly service in the restaurant, and the food was fresh and tasty.

Stopped there on the way North, very busy, but staff coped well with all the customers getting served pretty quickly, we had a truckies big breakfast, good coffee and pleasant staff. Good tasty food, and plenty of it, would recommend this place if you are travelling North, easy access to the freeway to get in and out.

Meals are generous and well cooked, the hot snacks are good, just need to know the difference between a latte and cappuccino. Great service and clean facilities.

Clean facilities, friendly, efficient cafe staff and good prices with plenty of choice. A pleasant stop on our roadtrip.

Sad to see a great roadhouse change hands and the service and quality of food go down to a bad fast food servo. I have stopped here for 30 years and today will be the last time we will ever stop there.sad sad sad

My son spilled his drink and the staff were just fantastic, cleaned up the mess and got him a new one in all of 5 seconds

A great place to refill the car and refuel the passengers. Dine in and enjoy a great selection of food and beverages. A great stop on your Hume Highway adventure.

Got my money back after kitchen staff struggled to get a toasted sandwich made in under 20min.
Wasn't even busy.

Today i stopped for a shower and a meal.
The shower was hot with great pressure. A chair was included to place my belongings and a screen door so as not to get them wet.
For my meal i ordered a golden, delicious Beef Schnitzel with Vegetables and gravy. While not massive it was just big enough that i felt more than satisfied and didn't leave any on my plate for Miss Manners (sorry). For my drinking pleasure i ordered a perfect Iced Coffee in a glass with cream near on 3"s spilling over the top! No sweetener needed as the iced cream within provided just enough.
I was not disappointed at all. They have it all at Avenel.

Hearty roadhouse tucker, friendly service, generous portions. Chips on the side for an extra $2:)

Always stop here when I travel.
Its got simple, great value food of great quality. Well worth a stop here when travelling the Hume for a quick feed and stretch the legs

I always pop in for a Rock cake on the way North (although I should have got them
to make me a coffee, as this bottle of coffee was terrible)

It's a stop for food when traveling, have never been in there and found the place clean. Too busy selling, really need someone to go out into the seating area and clean up.

Very freshly cooked. Strong coffee. We definitely stop this place always when we pass the area.

Great for fuel but not for a sit down meal. Food is cheap and the quality reflects the price. It will fill you up but don't expect too much flavor.

Stopped for a quick bite at breakfast today, was worst egg and bacon roll we have ever tried to eat. Unhappy that it tasted like the paper bag it was in and hard.
Very unhappy to throw food away.
PS. I have been stopping here for years. Never again.
