Auction Rooms reviews
65 They recommended the chicken sanga. Delicious but too big, too much Mayo, esp with deep fried chicken and bread and a slice of cheese. A heart attack waiting to happen. Wd have been better if the slaw was fresh.
Staff lovely. Iced latte v good.
Great selection of food
Delicious corned beef hash
Favourite was the fried chicken sando and its slightly spicy mayo
Spacious ambiance
Some friendly faces and had a nice chat
Encountered an unfriendly service by our initial waiter. Poor tone.
There are some proper angels working here. Never thought a honey lemon and ginger tea could make me feel some kind of way
So disappointed, the portion of food is so small. I paid $50 for lunch and walked away so hungry. Nice food but totally overpriced! Ting glass of wine to go with the tiny portion of food! What a rip off!
These guys are amazing. Great vibe, great coffee, great food and great service. There is always a line but they have a great system which means no one ever has to wait long for a seat, but also you don't feel rushed out when you do have a seat!
Cool cafe that has been around for quite a long time in Melbourne. Some said it’s a crème de la crème of Melbourne's brunch cafes. That proves to be so true!
We really enjoyed our food and drinks order and can't wait to go back and try more food!
? AR Benny (w/ sous vide girello beef, shredded veg, poched eggs, sriracha hollandaise & pita bread)
? Brownie Waffle (w/ dulche de leche, choc sauce, pecan praline, whipped raspberry mascarpone, & strawberries)
? Flat White (Coffee by St Ali)
? Ice Matcha Latte (w/ coconut milk & vanilla)
Good spot for brunch!
Overpriced…
$17 for a Reuben sandwich - expected a decent amount (preferably enough to fill 1). That was not the case, it was tiny and had no sides.
Extra star is because it tasted decent.
Will put down my preverbal “paddle number” and go to an auction room elsewhere.
Awful place. Half empty when I visited but loads of staff all busy chatting together or Facebooking on their phones. Ignored me for almost five minutes. I gave up and left in disgust. One to avoid. They deserve bankruptcy and disease.
Fantastic Cafe, amazing food & treats with very friendly staff and consistently great coffee.
Very unique interior and great outdoor seating!
One of my absolute favourite cafes. Haven’t been here in such a long. I had their take on chilli scrambled eggs with the chorizo sausage. Magnificent.
Good coffee, but the food isn't really my style. Feels a bit overrated for the price.but that could just be me.
Twix Hot Chocolate
Chilli Scrambled Eggs
Eggs Benedict
There isn’t anything to fault with this long running Melbourne institution. It is located in North Melbourne, in an old auction house, grand with a rustic, communal vibe with an outdoor courtyard and an abundance of seating. The first thing I’d like to comment on is their impeccable and attentive service, the team here runs like a well oiled machine - even at full capacity - and it was so impressive. The moorish menu is small and executed well, you will find all your classic favourites with a small twist. They serve @smallbatchroast and their signature Twix hot chocolate has become one of my favourites in Melbourne.
5/5
Yum! Delicious eggs Benny and tried their speciality Biscoff latte which was great, not to sweet.
Something to note, you have to lineup to be seated on weekends but the staff are attentive, friendly and efficient.
Beautiful decor. Good menu and yummy food - some interesting twists to old classics. Very busy and queue is quite likely.
Auction Rooms has it all - a cool location in North Melbourne, a lovely old building, good food, good coffee and great service.
Despite turning up without a booking on a Saturday we were quickly found a seat - like the Tardis this place is much bigger on the inside than it looks on the outside.
There was a good range of food choices, or, if not dining in, a good selection of pastries at the counter.
Food came out quick, and the service was perfect, and they had no trouble dealing with a request for gluten-free.
Excellent coffee and pastries, however some of the meals are a bit average for the price. The scrambled eggs on toast are excellent - however the poached eggs werent up to standard they were hard! The barista's are friendly and floor staff friendly. Needs some more COVID safe planning, and encouragement for people to do the QR code and SD.
Really Awesome atmosphere, reasonable priced menu, cool vibe, friendly crowd, and the service is excellent. Normally Extremely busy during lunch times. But I Only need to wait five minutes for a table. The place maintains its charm of the history it has with exposed brickwork and timber complimented by simple yet comfortable furniture and lush green plants. Very casual setting with a homely feeling. A really good place to get a early morning fix or catch-up with some friends. Will definitely be back soon!

Arrived around 10: 30am. Extremely busy. Only waited five minutes for a table.
The place maintains its charm of yesteryear with exposed brickwork and timber complimented by simple yet comfortable furniture. Very casual setting with a homely feeling. Will definitely be back.
Coffee was delicious. Food was ok as options are not many. It's also a nice setting up for a coffee shop but toilet needs a bit more renovation. Definitely recommended.
Surprisingly few cafes around North Melbourne and this seems to be the popular one. To be fair really not much wrong here - quick service (very considering the seats occupied) and coffee / breakfast was good / solid (if not great). For definitely a question mark on value. $30 for coffee and scrambled eggs feels a touch high when I know I can go to the modest but good cafe next store and pay near $10 less. But - I make this comment strictly as a personal view. Otherwise you will not be disappointed with Auction Rooms.
