Apollo Bay Bakery reviews
66 You have to understand.
I'm obese, and I like pies.
It's all I end up eating.
And the lamb pie here is the best pie this fat man had ever had the pleasure of storing as fat on their body.
This place is worth the trip. They offer two version of the scallop pies and they both are worth the cost, just get both the curry and french style.
Grab them, eat on the beach. Dont bother with the hot coffee, you’re not here for it and its not great.
I can not comment on the loaf bread, as i did not order it.
Chunky Beef pie had 2 chunks only so don't expect much. Tasty but not worth it. The scollop pie was okay.
Steak pies are delicious but scallop mornay pie flavor was not so impressive but fillings are full of scallops.
I stopped in for a peppered pie, ham and salad roll and a coffee (after a 2.5km ocean swim). I was so impressed that I took home a loaf of the sourdough bread (which makes the best toast). I only wish we had a bakery this good in Kensington.
Had the scallop pies. Mornay and curry.for 12 dollars, I think they are expensive and quite underwhelming. We also had the savoury rolls.also not that great.
Scallop Pie was not enjoyable at all ended up binning the whole thing.
Sandwiches and Almond Croissants were amazing
No fuss and great taste. One of the best scallop pies that I have eaten. The pepper steak pie was nice as well.
Had peppered beef pie and sausage role. Very happy with yummy and freshly baked food. Good customer service when not busy and it’s understandable when it’s busy. Still would give 5 stars because of the quality of food.
Great food and service. Highly recommend the slices, pies and bread. I only wish I lived closer.
Fantastic pies, pastries, and coffee. Make sure you get the scallop pies when they're hot! Sooooo good!
Good pies but expect to pay $2 more than one in Melbourne.
Having had a scallop pie twice now, I prefer real scallops cooked from the fish shop.
Their meat pies are tasty
Happy with both mornay and curry scallop pies, cost $12 each. Expensive.
I’m just not very impressed with their customer service.
In the couple of days i stayed in Apollo Bay i had the Scallop Mornay pie & a couple of bacon, egg & cheese rolls.
The scallop pie is very saucy & probably best eaten with a knife & fork if you want to avoid a mess.
The bacon & egg rolls are good value & make a great breakfast.
My husband had the Scallop Pie and absolutely LOVED IT! The bread is amazing, staff very friendly and helpful.we will be back!
I expected so much more, but the Vanilla slice really disappointed. I struggled to cut cut through pastry with a steak knife! The filling was just OK, nothing to write home about.
Croissant was dull and plain.
However, Scones, apple crumble muffin and Anzac buiscits were great!
Really good bakery in town, I had the chicken parma pie and it was probably the best pie I have had in my life. Do not miss!
Great bakery lots of good food to eat. They have built a new outside area which is really nice. Excellent service
The pies are a must try but the barista is worth a miss.
Even if you are not into pies, there are some good non - traditional varieties e.g. Scallop mornay, prawn and garlic, curried scallop and Thai chicken curry. The last one was our favourite and much better value than the seafood varieties. The pricing is on the premium side and the pies are filling so choose carefully.
The barista experience is idiosyncratic and not customer friendly. It does not help that the barista herself keeps ordering people to leave. After ordering and paying for your hot drinks, you're required to collect your pies, exit the store and wait on the pavement till your name is called on a loudspeaker. Then you enter the store again to pick up your coffees /hot chocolates. Why not move the barista counter to serve drinks onto the street like so many businesses have done in covid times? Even better, get a more customer friendly person?
When asked how long our order might take, she (the barista) bunched up tokens and waved them about, loudly remarking she had a lot and could not tell. We politely cancelled our drinks and the staff efficiently refunded the money with an apology.
The rest of the staff are exceptional. They packed our pies beautifully when we said we had to take them to Melbourne and they tasted great.
