I really wanted to like Alter It Richmond. I've used the Hampton location for years and have always been happy with the results, and I expected to receive the same quality of service in Richmond, but unfortunately I have left disappointed every time.

My last experience was so bad that I have decided to never use them again. A couple of months ago, I brought in a suit jacket & pants for alteration, and a pair of pants for mending/dry cleaning. I was told that I could collect my order in a week, and that I would get a text message when it was ready. I waited for 2 weeks without hearing anything, so I went to the store to follow up on my order.

I found out that only part of my order was ready. The suit was ready, but they had forgotten which pair of pants needed to be dry cleaned. Fine, everyone makes mistakes. I clarified what the order was, I was told that it would be another week before I could pick it up, and so I returned home with just my suit.

When I tried the suit on at home, I found that the alteration on the pants was poorly done and it was causing the fabric to wrinkle/pull strangely in the back. I waited another 2 weeks without hearing that I could pick up my other pair of pants, so again I went in to the shop. My pants were ready this time, and I took them home only to discover that they hadn't been mended!

I considered taking them back to get the mending done, but I don't want to go through all of this again. I'll find another tailor to fix the mess they made of my suit, and to actually mend my pants.

These guys have been very helpful to my tailoring needs. I have had multiple items amended by them and I am always happy with the outcome

They say a tailor can take something that looks and fits okay - and transform it into something fabulous! I’ve been taking my clothes to Alter It Richmond for 14 years. No job is too big or too tricky. They’ve even done emergency alterations on my way to a work event. Brava to Diana and Anna and the team. Highly recommended.

Great experience. They are so helpful. Have made all my jeans fit nice around my waist. Struggle to find jeans that fit my body small waist, bigger bottom. They do a great job of making jeans fit snug:)

The absolute best of the best! Altered the length and added pleating tape to 4 large curtains same day. Other Alter It stores brushed me away. Pricing was more than reasonable. Thanks guys - you are awesome!

I had a button fall off a jacket between open houses. Dianna was so helpful and reattached it straight away. I get all my gear altered there and the workmanship is excellent. Thanks Dianna, you’re a legend:)

Terrible job on a simple alteration. Wanted press studs added to straps on my overalls, you could see the stitching very clearly on the outside and it was all over the place…and the press studs don’t even line up either! And the price was very expensive for what was a quick job.

Paid these people to ruin my garment, absolutely useless service, will advise anyone against going, should have read the bad reviews first

Awesome service! Got 5 pairs of pants for work and a dress altered and it was done really well. It was done earlier than expected and the ladies in the store are great. Happy!

Absolutely terrible dry cleaning job. The fact that I had to delint my coat to get rid of all the black lint from whatever it was after I took my coat back is unacceptable.

I have been in many time to the store and have always gotten great service. There have been days i needed pants altered in 1 day and the staff were able to acomodate my request as i was traveling out of town. I recently got a gown altered it fits me like a glove!

I dropped off a dress that needed a new zip with 2 other small alteration items, paid the money and they said it would be ready by Sunday.
When I got a text on Sunday to collect the dress wasn’t ready. I told them I was going away for 6 weeks the next day so please hold onto it.
When I returned there 7-8 weeks later they had given the dress away. They said they would try and find it and call me. I haven’t heard from them in weeks.
I am so upset as this was one of my favourite pieces. I tried to call them, no answer.
No communication, no apology, no refund or compensation for losing my garment, no care whatsoever.
I just can’t believe the lack of professionalism and I’m just so angry this has happened despite the conversations we have had.
Terrible experience.

I needed some hemming done on work pants. A simple job which required a professional result. The hemmed pants came back to me on 9th April 2022. Its now the 6th May 2022, and the hemming dropped and there are threads everywhere. I'm not happy. I wanted a professional job. I will now hem these to the best of my ability because the professionals don't have the advertised skill set.

Absolutely fantastic alteration place! Love the staff. I dealt with two lovely ladies. They were super friendly, polite, professional, welcoming, attentive and knowledgeable. My alteration was done perfectly! Love their work! They’re not that expensive either. I dropped off my pants on Monday and was supposed to collect my pants that Thursday morning but I received a text on Tuesday stating that my pants are ready to be collected. That was very quick, wonderful and convenient. Now this is exceptional customer service. Not only are they polite and friendly they did a brilliant job and it was ready earlier than expected. I will definitely return to your business and I highly recommend Alter It Richmond to anyone who wants excellent service! Thank you, girls. I’m a very happy, satisfied customer!

Unprofessional service, gave a quote but tried to charge more later. Person in charge can’t care less to explain why she changed her mind. Take your money somewhere else, not worth a bad experience.

Dianna just made me a stunning strapless ball gown. All I did was show her photos and the dress is exactly as I asked, and fits beautifully. The process was seamless and Dianna’s communication was fantastic. I’ve found a true gem. Highly recommended. Thankyou Dianna.

Dropped by to get the hem on my work trousers fixed as had come lose; it was completed on the spot & I wasn’t charged. Amazing service.
