Afghan Village Restaurant reviews
55 Wow I bet this restaurant had its day. We walked in and we were served well for our table water. That’s where it ended. We sat in a restaurant with a lot of great memories on the walls and shelves and a disinterested guy sitting behind the bar watching his phone. As the only patrons for an early sitting I looked for the person to look so we could order. Ordered and everything fell down from there. Trio of dips and bread, heard the banging of a microwave assume for the “naan”. Had 3 dips placed in front of us, neither of us knew what the dips were as they were just placed in front of us. The main comes hopefully the saving grace no it wasn’t all we heard was microwave doors opening and closing and we were delivered meat that we were told looked good and everything else was steaming hot. The rice amazing loved it but that is where it ended.
Bring back your vibe! Bring back caring about what you do. Don’t sit in the corner on your phone and accept that microwaves go off in the background. This place is better than this and should be wayyy better than this. You have lost caring is what we could see
Food was just ok I order lamb korma with rice the curry needs more flavour and rice was hard!
But the service and the vibes of the place was good
Beautiful experience. We even forgot our leftovers takeaway from the meal and they chased up the street. Would recommend for a date night ️
Set banquets are a good place to start for your first time, though it was mostly veg options. I’d choose my own next time and opt for more meat dishes.
Cool stacked teapot/teacup.
Came here tonight and was just blown away by the experience, what a hidden gem in Camberwell!
The service was brilliant. Our waiter pasha was a very polite and friendly young gentleman who took our order quickly and our food came out in a reasonable time.
The food was fresh, visually pleasing and most importantly delicious! The kebabs were juicy and tender. My favourite dish was the bolini bread which was an interesting mix of bread and potato. The baklava and ferni were the perfect dessert to finish the meal.
Can’t recommend this place enough! I can’t wait to come back with more friends to share the experience. Thanks for the memorable night!
Pleasant food, friendly and efficient service. The traditional banquet is good for a group, with heaps of food and a lovely dessert taster. I enjoyed the lamb the most, very tender.
Pre movie dinner at this amazing restaurant, my daughter and I ordered the Special Banquet selection, we thoroughly enjoyed the exotic flavours, intimate setting accompanied with a warm & wonderful service. Thank you for making our dining experience at your restaurant a memorable one, I look forward to dining there again soon.
We went to Afghan Village Restaurant for dinner and got a bit of everything; lamb korma, chicken khandahari, kofta meat balls, some grills & entrees (as part of the Special Banquet - 4 entrees, 4 mains, desserts & a hot drink @68pp). The portions were not big, and I thought a lot of the dishes were tomato heavy so they had very similar flavour profiles, but it could just be an Afghani thing. I did enjoy the meat balls and the mixed grills (and the flavourful Kabuli Palau rice that came with the kormas), as well as Firnee which was a delectable dessert of rose water flavoured custard. Service was quick, staff members were very friendly.
Delicious food, generous servings and delightful, warm and attentive service! Mum and I ordered the Special Banquet and couldn't recommend it enough. We loved our first experience dining at Afghan Village Restaurant and will definitely be returning!
Always a delight to go here, we really enjoy the food, and the service is excellent. We are going again tonight.:)
Came here with my friends for dinner tonight (27/01/2023) and we were all blown away by how delicious everything was! Dishes were all packed with flavour, meat was tender and well cooked, and I'm already craving the Koroutti again! Service was also excellent - I think one of them was being trained by the other - but both men were so quick to serve us, and were very polite and warm. This place exceeded our expectations in every way, and I'll definitely be coming back soon!
Delicious traditional Afghan dinner including nice "mixed chef" entrée, lamb korma sholla gorbandi Afghan salad and dessert combo. Great fast friendly service. Beautifully decorated venue!
Chose this place for the variety of vegan options and cuisine and we were blown away by how tasty the food was and the excellent service. We had the chefs tasting plate of entrees since we couldn't decide and the eggplant korma. A beautifully decorated interior too, thank you for a lovely experience!
Very yummy food, great deserts and a relaxed and cosy atmosphere. We all went for chicken and lamb options, but also a lot of vegetarian food on the menu. I'll be coming back!
It is more than ten years since I have known Afghan Village. With its cozy atmosphere, the kind manners of the owners, and its consistently good food, Afghan Village remains in my top three favourite restaurant list.
If you find it challenging to make a choice of food, ask for suggestions and be ready for a delicious meal unlike any you had. And remember, the desserts are as good as the food!
This is straight up the best Afghan food I have ever had. Both the food and service was great. Would recommend to friends and family.
The lamb dumplings were lovely, but the kebabs were dry and overcooked. Good service though
Great food and excellent service! We had a small birthday celebration which became memorable, thanks to dear Sepideh & Pasha.
Delicious food in a homely environment. The Afghan music, decor, candles and flowers create a beautiful atmosphere. We enjoyed our kormas daahl and naan served delightfully by the friendly waiter.
The flavours are colourful with pleasing variety, and the traditional dough yoghurt drink added a beautiful highlight to our experience.
Food definitely tasty but portions smallish but may be I'm a piglet!
Prices good. Worth a visit.
