Afghan Star Restaurant

Afghan Star was my first ever Afghani food experience and I was impressed with the quality of the food. I've only ever had takeaway from Afghan Star until this evening and everything I've had takeaway has been great. Generous serves and everything is so flavourful.

Tonight, we decided to eat in and we were blown away with the freshness and standard of the food. I already thought it was amazing as takeaway but it was top notch served hot and fresh. So far we've had Lamb qorma with qabuli rice, chicken kebabs, tikka kebab (lamb skewers), jooja kebab (chicken skewers), chalaw kebab (mince kebab), chicken biryani (this one's spicy). And the bread would have to be my fav. You can have it with anything. It's giant, fluffy with a woodfired crunch to it.

Restaurant is basic and staff are shy but obliging. The quality, flavour and generous serves of the food definitely makes up for it! I'll struggle to go back to having it as takeaway seeing as how much we enjoyed the food dining in. 3 people fed for $60 incl 2 cans of soft drink. But we'll get at least another 3 individual meals from the leftovers. Just ask to takeaway the leftovers and they'll give you containers to DIY. Highly recommend!

The food was generally great, and the serving sizes are good value for money.

The rice was really nice with a good amount of raisins, the lamb qorma was average, the meat was tender, but it needed more flavour. The mixed grill was generally good, although I felt the kofta was overcooked. The pizzas, albeit basic, are really nice with a tasty dough.

The pizza meal deal was supposed to come with a 1.25l bottle, but since they were out, their solution was to instead give me two 375ml cans, which Is not a fair substitution, in my opinion.

Overall, I would still recommend this place if you're looking for good value halal Afghan food with the added bonus of nice tasty pizza.

Fancy-grade restaurant when it comes to food, love the qabuli rice with lamb shank, pretty much everything we ordered was was eaten to the last bit.prices are very competetive too $20 on average including drink.highly recommended, only downside I think is the toilet, it's clean but needs a bit of upgrade.

It is a very good family run restaurant, The price is reasonable and the food portion is huge. Highly recommend the mixed kebab rice and bread combo!

We felt like Afghan and this little place popped up on our maps and we're so glad we came! One of the better places we've gone to for Afghan and a nice old school setting with great food! The guys were really nice and patient, we'll definitely be back.

Best doner kebabs in the west. Afghan special pizza is top class pizza. So yummy. If you want a good family dinner and love your meat then this is the place to go. 10 stars all day long if I could give that much. Thankyou staff for your great quality food

Simple yet tasty authentic Afghan food. The bread is made fresh on order and I guarantee you won't leave this place hungry.

Never go there again. I was craving some delicious food but got very disappointed. Left your game up guys. The Mantu was full of onion

This restaurant is located at the heart of restaurant and shops at Hampshire Rd.
Kebabs are charcoal grilled and tasty.

My rate is reflected at the time of food quality matches with price.
Afghani style service is quiet customer service and I rate for the time between order to serve food️, hygiene, extra sauce and salad
Atmosphere including dining looks and if any music or friendliness sfaff

My favourite Qabuli Pulao was delicious.

An absolute hidden gem! Stumbled upon this place not expecting much since it doesn't look flash from the outside, but was blown away by the quality and authenticity of the food. I now travel across the city to eat here when I crave proper Afghan food.

I’m craving for some Middle Eastern food especially kebab and biryani. I tried this place in Sunshine as I already tried the other Afghan resto. This place is terrific! I mean for this meal is only $17, so affordable without compensating the quality and taste of the food. It was delicious and authentic. The salad is fresh, look at those greens. And that green sauce is refreshing. I could taste the yoghurt and mint in it. I forgot how they call it. The place is clean. It was early arvo when I came and it wasn’t choc-o-block yet. A must try, highly rated Afghan restaurant in the area.

Love the authentic Afghan food. They serve large servings so the food is great for sharing. Price is more affordable than other Afghan restos around Sunshine. Excited to try other food on the menu when we return.

Well, this place offers tasty food. It was my first time in an Afghan resto and yes, the food were so good. The lamb we ordered was so soft and divine, served with fried Basmati rice which was also rich in flavour. The chicken dish also tasted great. I think the interior needs improvement to make it enticing vibrant, and to make it spacious. The toilet was accessible for people on a wheelchair.

I am new to Afghan cuisine and I am surprise I love it. We ordered mixed kebab and the servings are huge. The meat is tender and tasty.

So tasty and reasonable price with good portion of food. Must try this restaurant. Freshly cooked lamb and rice especially qabuli pulao superb.

Very underwhelming - this is the 'salad' and 'dip' that came with a platter.

Very poor service we went there for dinner and we order food for 4 people.
At start they served half of our meal and requesting them serval time for the rest of our foods and it shows up after 40 minutes.
At that time we were done.
When we explained them instead of saying sorry there were super arrogant.

We got this meal for $17 it was enough for 2 people. Staffs were really polite. Highly recommended. We will back definitely

Went there with family. The meat was not tender at all. When raised this with a female staff she said it's because the chef wasn't in or something along those lines. Her attitude was rude and she did not care. For a dining experience where you pay to eat good food it's disappointing when you're given less than acceptable food. The bread and chicken were good which is why rsting it with 2 stars.
