ACMI reviews
59A great place to spend, kids will love it, Computer games, VR experience, motion capture, history of cinema etc are a few things to do. Cafe, bar, cinema theatre, toilets are available inside, u don't have to step out for anything. We spent 5 hours there as my kids were spending a lot time exploring the computer games, these games are mostly the previous gen games of the 90s and 2k period and u play these with ps4 and led screens.
Amazingly well done museum. Lots to do, see, and listen to. Gift shop has some great items at reasonable prices. No entry fee, so suggest leaving a donation so they can continue to offer interesting exhibits like "Cleverman", which rocked. Need to get the series now!
The Australian Centre for the Moving Image is located at Federation Square on Flinders Street Melbourne. Entry is free except for Temporary Exhibitions and Film screenings. Loads of hands on interactive displays. Good place to bring kids as lots to see and do.
Always love visiting here, strange but cool exhibits- most are interactive as well! Great history about all technologys around screens and media including games and tv.
ACMI is great place to watch movie and chill in riverside. You can check good deal of movie screening and cinema related exhibotions in their web site. Highly recomending to those who love cinema and Melbourne.
ACMI enhances Melbourne's cultural status. I love seeing a movie here, especially a foreign film or as part of a film festival like the Japanese one. To have a coffee or a glass of wine beforehand at the ACMI cafe enhances the pleasure. Long live ACMI
Its nice to know how movie industry started, to where it is now. Displayed here were the vintage equipments and things used from earlier times of making moving images up to computer age. A really blast from the past!
This is a place for kids and grown ups love - plenty of games, and lots of information about the technology behind it. We can spend hours in this place playing!
One of the great things about Melbourne is this place. State of the art cinema that has a great program of cinema for everyone
Fun seeing the car from George Miller's Mad Max movies, I did not expect that. Even if it's just a replica. And fun playing a bit of Super Mario even though I couldn't get past the first level. All in all an okay exhibition.
Great place for kids to discover and learn about the film industry and internet / games evolution.
The entry is free, there are lot of interactive stations including games stations from all ages (street fighter, minecraft, etc).
We spent 3 hours there and didn't want to leave.
I am pretty sure that you would be surprised for the first time visit as this is one of free of charge places to go with so many useful information and interesting games to experience.
Awesome place to visit if you are in Melbourne super easy to get to and it's free for some of the exhibitions. Had a great time looking at the video game exhibition that was set up, they had a lot of interactive pieces there.
Interesting place for the history of moving images. Plenty of interactive exhibits as well to keep visitors engaged. Even visiting just for the free galleries is worth it.
If you live in Melbourne, you should make more of an effort to go, it's such a fun place.
Yo, did you check out that alice in wonderland exabtion they had, so cool.
Had a great time checking out the history of film/TV. They also had games/VR and other interactive activities. The exhibit is free so there's no reason not to go.
Great meeting place. Always love coming back to my hometown. We came to Federation Square to see the Wonderland exhibition. It was fantastic! Federation square is looking great as usual and Melbourne is one of the worlds best cities to visit.
Awesome place! Great variety of films and film festivals. Recently saw Liars and Wonderland After Dark. Whilst the gig and exhibition were good, the drinks were weak, there was barely any variety, and the service was sub-par. Next time I might drink elsewhere first.
