Aangan reviews
82The pièce de résistance of the meal was it's mind blowing taste. Authentic feel of Indian spices. Takeaway is super efficient. Expensive but worth it
Extremely well equipped menu, great ambience, delicious food, the staff very accomodatiing with all our requests. Thank you
I was a regular customer to Aangan ever since they opened. But my last experience was worst. We ordered Chilli paneer, the waitress did not take the order properly, we were served chilli CHICKEN instead. On top of it, the Guajarati waitress who was there on that day was very rude by saying things happen, she was busy serving her friends. Totally unacceptable. Management won’t take any action on this rude waitress, hence we stopped going to this restaurant.
For the second time our delivery got cancelled. For no apparent reason. Waited a long time before we were told it was cancelled.
This place is really hyped but you never know what you are going to get, especially on the weekend. We have had the same dishes cooked several different ways ranging from excellent to really bad. Feels like many different chefs working here or a chef with many personalities. Definitely a lot better when eating in compared to takeaway. Worth visiting as it's a Footscray institution - An Indian food lottery that has thrived in a street that has at least a hundred other Indian restaurants.
Authentic Indian food.
I personally enjoy Indian Chinese - the paneer chilli and Schezwan fried rice were ok.
The star was the tandoor platter. Absolutely loved that.
Me and my partner we went for the dinner last night.it was good but before making order we ask the girl “did they make spring rolls by their own” she said yes.and when our order came it was market one which are easily available in any Indian store.they just fry them and serve. We were very disappointed.at-least they have to pass the true information.it hurt customer’s expectations.
Visited Aangan Footscray today for dinner. The Chilli paneer we ordered had an overpowering taste of ketchup. The mains were alright. The service was not the best. The staff didn't check on the customers. I had to wait a couple of minutes before which i could even place an order for more rotis. I wanted to order dessert but the staff didn't seem interested to take any orders.
I loved the food here. The best Indian cuisine you can have in Melbourne… everything is best in its own.first choice to visit everytime.
This used to be our go to but it's been less good of late. Our lamb saag tonight was poor. The sauce good as usual but 30 percent of the lamb was laced with unchewable fat, not the flavoursome type. We had a lot of left over lamb by the time we were finished. Seemed like a cheap cut or not slow cooked for a long time. Last time our daughters butter chicken lacked the smokey flavours it usually impresses with. Maybe they have a new chef or are cost cutting or maybe we just have been unlucky. It's expensive as far as take-away indian food so it needs to be better for us to keep buying. We will start to look for other options now.
I love their food when you are eating in the restaurant however every time I ordered a take away, the food is pathetic. Its undercooked, average taste and sometimes less quantity too. Ordered Paneer tikka yesterday and batter wasn’t cooked properly. The taste was awful too. Really disappointed
Excellent food and service, so far best tasting authentic Indian food we had in Melbourne till now! Definitely recommend it to everyone.
My experience was ruined because of not installing curtains in front of the windows. CURTAINS! I had to constantly use my hand to shield my eyes from the bright sun!
Best restaurant for a long time. We travel upwards of 2 hours to just get to this specific Aangan. Just wish there was more space on the tables at the back.
Food is always good here as testament of how busy the place is regardless of the time. We always get the dosa with various curries. All the curries and mild or medium spicy.
The most uncomfortable place I even went for dinner. Even though we booked a table in advance, we were thrown at the back in the makeshift restaurant which is not more than a marquee really. Space there was so tight that wait staff bumped into us multiple times while trying to serve the patrons on next table. He could not walk pass us even after we literally went under our table. After that we were offered a table inside. Things didn’t get better inside as well.
The plate served in front of me still had finger prints with food from previous use. Menu offered had pages ripped. Ordered butter naan but got served with plain naan with butter on top of them. Same thing repeated even after making it clear to the staff. People sitting next to us were sort of forced to switch tables half way through their meal.
So many other things to share which made the whole experience a bad one.
Food was average though. No surprises there luckily. Still would not suggest anyone to go there to go through the same. There are so many other better options out there.
Absolutely delicious food! Being of Indian origin and being brought up with very high standard of Indian food, I was very impressed. The food really had a very home-cooked taste and feel to it, very flavourfull and delicious. Service was excellent and I felt really well looked after. I went to Aangan for 4 years as I was studying and now that I live interstate, it is a place I always come to whenever I visit Melbourne. Please open a second restaurant in Sydney!
Yummy food, helpful staff, fair prices. We ordered something we hadn't tried before and the staff taught us to eat it properly! Good with kids. Busy though so get there early (before 6.30pm on a Saturday) or expect to wait a little for a table. Can takeaway any leftovers
Tasty meals and friendly, efficient service at reasonable prices. The Tandoori, Rogan Josh, Goanese Prawns and Butter Chicken all deserve a mention. Aangan Footscray turned out to be a very satisfying event, prices of alcoholic drinks are also competitive. Highly recommended, parking relatively easy.
I am yet to try food st the Restra but strongly advise to avoid food at their food truck/stall. When I asked if the fish is fresh they said yes and then we spotted them taking fish from frozen packet and serving another customer. Kids couldn’t chew the fish and it was really tight. Thing that is disappointing is that their staff lied about the frozen food while we clearly saw them later on.
