61Very nice meat in here we order 1 tomahawk and ribs, enough for 4 person (ligh meal) ribs is very soft very nice. Dont bring your car, you need drink wine ^^ with it
Really nice place in a side alley off Flinders lane, amongst some great graffiti walls (see pic below).
The service was really good, our main waiter was a tall lad (big beard) that was welcoming and friendly, he also provided a great selection of red wines to go with the meal. Another waiter actually forgot a couple of items we had ordered (luckily they were not on the bill).
The rib-eye-on the bone was really good. Dark chocolate mousse with pistachio ice cream was decadent and rich (I couldn't finish it, luckily the others could). Creme Broulee was also nice, I tried the rice pudding, which was not my thing, but the others really enjoyed it.
For non-meat eaters, they only had a choice of calamari (entree) or barramundi. If you ordered a steak you could have added a lobster tail, but that was not a separate menu item.
I would definitely recommend this place as a good steak house, and would certainly go there again.
One of the best steak restaurants in Melbourne. This hidden gem is well decorated and has great menu selection. The staff were very friendly and the steak cooked as per our requirements. The drinks menu is outstanding with great collection. Finally wrap it up with the desert menu.
Womdeful food for celebration.
I took my parents out for dinner last night and the pepper and mushroom sauce was very watery and disappointing. Considering it is an expensive steak restaurant you would think they would be able to get the basics right. After speaking to a waitress about it there was no apology and the table was cleared and avoided. Left the restaurant very disappointed after paying over $400 for what was supposed to be a nice night out. Got ice creams from the service station on the way home.
If your looking for a great place to have steak come down to Hereford Beefstouw, The quality of steak they serve here is the best grade I've seen in and around the Melbourne area. The servers are polite and friendly and make the experience very enjoyable, the wine selection on offer is also amazing. I would highly recommend this restaurant when trying to find a place to dine in Melbourne.
Service is amazing and they sure know how to cook meat. Asked for medium rare and it was perfect. Also the bearnaise is amazing.

My wife and i had the 500gm Chateaubriand eye fillet with mushroom sauce and the 700gm Cote De boeuf with truffle butter and lobster tails, The kids had slow cooked beef ribs and Alfredo Pasta
The service was fast although our waiter was not very welcoming
Not much i can say about the steak though as it was not evenly cooked and lacked any seasoning
The mushroom sauce tasted like it was from a packet and i struggled to taste or see any sign of truffles in the truffle butter
The beef ribs were nice though as were the deserts
Ordered ribs racks last night, my other 2 friends had amazing cuts but mine was horrible! It was unfair they didn't give me a good piece it was fatty and smaller. Never coming here again.
Great steaks, great wine at an ok price. Would have been five stars were it not for slightly incompetent staff.

All steaks are pretty big. My steak was Hereford dry age 400g new york sirloin and was rare instead of medium. Staff were good drinks were nice and $10 side of veggies was the standout. Also side of mushrooms was better than the steak.
I recommend Salmon and pear salad. I found out one thing, sometimes, if the chef cut the steak too thin, it will be over-cooked. The steel plate for steak is a bad idea. The noise of knife cuting on the steel makes me sick
Great atmosphere, staff, food and wine. A great location for lunch or dinner. Wine list is excellent.
Staff are very nice and friendly. With all respect, I didn't like the steak as I have had better steak in Melbourne. The offer of shared meal was not really for 2 people. Considering we were not very hungry either. But still not enough. I believe it is just 20% more than a normal meal. In total good to try once. But I might not get excited to go back again. It is just my opinion.
Received the wrong order via delivery. The way management handled the error was appalling - stay clear of this offering. Last time I will visit Hereford.
Amazing beef, friendly knowledgeable staff. Dining post COVID very odd, but made to feel welcome and well looked after.
Amazing service from all staff and thanks for the good quality dry aged steak I have even had. We will comeback for the 100days dry aged steak again and try beef ribs next time.
Hereford Beefstouw is my hubby’s favourite restaurant in Melbourne and every year we go out to celebrate his birthday at Hereford. Sadly, this year we can’t continue our tradition but thanks to Hereford at Home we were able to celebrate with a beautiful steak (and ribs) at home. The food was affordable and delicious, highly recommend!
The restaurant advertises itself as an upmarket steakhouse - the quality of food is good, service attentive and also reasonably priced We were somewhat surprised that they were unable to accommodate our requirements for the chateaubriand - we therefore elected to have the fillet steak which was certainly one of the best we have ever eaten - Overall a good evening for dinner, The only downside was the poor cleanliness of the toilet facilities which require improvement -
