It was a nice half day trip to Trowunna Wildlife Sanctuary in hobart. Being a family owned sanctuary, it is maintained well with a good number of marsupial animals. The walk through talk by the ranger was good, as we got to touch quolls and a wombat. If you have time, it's surely a place to visit. A$30/adult and A$18/child.

Great spot to spend 1-2 hours and get up close with Tassie Devils, Quolls, Wombats and Kangaroos, as well as the other animals that call the sanctuary home. Well worth the $30 (Jan 2024 price) for the entry and Tassie Devil tour.

Was recommended to come here by other travellers and this place was amazing. Our daughter is obsessed with devils and this place has plenty of them. We arrived at opening and pretty much had the place to ourselves for an hour. We did the 11am tour and it was really informative. We were able to pat a young devil as well. Highly recommend a visit here

Loved it. Hand feed kangaroos, wallabies, birds, ducks and geese. Got to pat a Tasmanian Devil joey. So have soft furr.

Got to pat cute baby devil's, and learn about them. The Tasmanian government needs to put funding into their great work.

Great place for all ages to see Tasmanian wildlife. Regular short tours allow close up access to a Tassie Devil, which has been hand reared especially.

We visit at least once a year, with exchange students or visiting family and friends. We love the experience of learning about and interacting with our precious native fauna.

Trowunna should be on the "Must Do" list of visitors and locals alike.

We went to visit Trewanna and we had the opportunity to learn about conservation of wildlife, especially of the Tasmanian devils. It is really heartwarming to see humans caring and looking after wildlife. It is an awesome project the breeding in semi captivity in order to raise the number of Tasmanian devils. I had lot of fun feeding the Cape Barren goose and the kangaroos. Many of the animals are free to roam in all the sanctuary and they stay because they like the place. It has been a very interesting and interactive experience. Make sure to include it in your journey.

A beautiful place for children and adults alike to exalt the compassion, knowledge and excitement the staff have for so many beautiful animals in their care. Highlights are the tour that gets up close to wombats and tassie devils, the opportunity to hand feed and pat kangaroos and get up close to usually very shy animals like spotted quolls and tawny frogmouths who are difficult to spot in the wild. Could not recommend the experience highly enough

What a fantastic day. The whole park is absolutely gorgeous. The animals are well and thriving. The kangaroos that you can feed are very gentle. We even spotted some echidnas in the bush.
The Wombat and devil talk was great too. It was really interesting to learn so much about these animals!
Their collection of birds is really impressive too.
A really great visit. Would recommend to all!

Our only suggestion and thing that dampened our day was there was no where to buy lunch. Unfortunately the suggested hotel and cafe were closed when we went. Perhaps having something basic like pies and sausage rolls would be small enough that doesn't cost must and it gives people something to enjoy at their picnic tables.

Other than that, loved it!

My family and I came here yesterday and we couldn’t have asked for a better time.what a magical place. It was incredible to learn about the local wildlife as back home in NZ it’s not nearly as exciting. Thanks so much

I loved visiting this place with Scouts and feedback was positive across the board. Great to see many types of wildlife in one place. I do recommend allocating plenty of time to get the best experience and taking a guided tour. The staff are lovely and great at answering any questions.

LOVED the wombats! The 45min talk about their wombats, quoll and the Tas Devils feeding was great! These people are dedicated to the animals - it's not just a tourist zoo. No govt funding so to do what they have done is amazing. You can feed some of the animals. Loved it.

My two children (15 and 9) and I visited today. We followed the 1pm tour and enjoyed learning about some of the animals. The tour was the perfect amount of time, not to long and not to short. The sanctuary was really open (free roaming animals and the ones secured away for safety). The kangaroos were the fan favourite for my children and I but I also loved the Tasmanian devils. They weren't hiding away and we could get up and close (safely) to them. I feel it is the perfect environment for if one needs to relax and enjoy the surroundings and animals - there is seating to do so. A calming environment and the staff are really friendly. Highly recommend a visit. Suited for all ages.
