If you want spicy food then don't bother voming here. It's good tasty food but no heat whatsoever. Nice venue with great views.

Amazing place, have been there twice in my six days of stay in Hobart. Must try place and highly recommend. We tried vegetarian curries and must say that they were very delicious. And mushroom pakora is a must try. Very cozy ambience and staff were very friendly too.

Ordered chicken korma was delicious. Service by Nav and Sipika was good. The chana curry was a bit spicy, they accommodate with cucumber yoghurt.

Giving 3 stars for the serving size for the prize of one daal makhani ($23). We were informed that one serving size is per person which is definitely not worth that much based on the quantity and quality. The ambience and staff service was good though. Would prefer to try a different restaurant next time.

We were group of 8 that visited the Saffron restaurant for dinner on the 9th April. It was a cold, windy, rainy evening in Hobart & the team was hungry craving for a spicy punjabi food fix. I must say the restaurant did not disappoint us. Excellent food & service.

Table booking was efficient. Warm welcome on arrival, staff were cheerful & enthusiastic. Food was extremely delicious, fresh & with right balance of spices and flavours. Naans & Rotis were served, cooked on tandoor with perfect texture and crispiness. The vegetarian dishes were excellent - Aloo gobi, kadai paneer were super yum. The chicken dishes were very well savoured by our team & got excellent feedback. We asked for a dish that was not on their menu (Yellow Dal tadka) and the chef made it specially for us. We could not have asked for better customer service, 5 stars. The icing on the cake was the dessert - the mango and pistachio kulfis were out of the world.

Well done team Saffron, keep up the quality & service. We definitely recommend the place with very high rating and look forward to visit again in our next trip to Hobart.

The saffron Indian restaurant is one of the best tassie Indian restaurant I’ve ever been to. Personally, I loved their Fish and chicken tikka and the gin section 44 made the meal great. The restaurant is in the city making it very convenient for city residents and tourists.

Food - Good taste. Naan were really soft. Chicken was nicely cooked.
Service - Poor. Girls are very unprofessional and shows bad attitude. We have to literally get to reception desk and order food. Post the order is at their desk we had to go over to collect as they forgot to serve on table.

We’ve ordered mutton curry, chicken curry and palak panner with naans
We didn’t like a taste of the curries as they taste much of tomorrows even thought they look delicious.
Definitely not spicy even though we’ve selected from spicy menu.
There is room for improvement in the taste of curries

Awesome service and food. We celebrated our anniversary dinner and on special request of my wife they surprised me with complimentary song and happy anniversary written on a plate with chocolate sauce and Gulab Jamuns. It was really memorable. Would recommend to visit this place at least once.:)

Third time dining here. Portions are generous and service was exceptional. You don’t have to wait long for the food, however, it’s a bit bland.

We had an issue with the quality control of one dish which was quickly sorted, taken off the bill and a complimentary drink provided.

I’ll be back, but after trying other Indian restaurants around Hobart.

LOOK FOR ANOTHER RESTAURANT
Summary:
Quantity do not justify the price.
Price do not justify the quality.
Detail:
The non veg starters were served with sweet chutney. (Personal POV- I don’t like sweet chutney on top of my chicken/murg entrees)
The breads (remember the movie chup chup ke? And now you would’ve guessed the epic scene too. Lachcha paratha, tandoor roti were too hard to bite). DISAPPOINTMENT
The biryani (FYI; the spices is the same for chicken and goat biryani; only difference was the chicken and goat pieces - confirmed by 10 other folks.
The veg biryani as advised by the veggie folks in my group had ketchup and pepper spice spread to give a taste of sweet and spice flavour. How innovative?)
Curries (both veg/non veg) - Damm, both veg curries (veg jalfrezi, kadai paneer) were bland, my veggie guys left the paneer in the serving bowl. They didn’t finish it even.
The non veg curries (chicken tikka masala, methi chicken, chicken chennai, goat curry) I just feel laughing. We were not able to differentiate the taste and moreover feel the taste. It can be good for aussie locals as the items are too bland.
Next we were dehydrated so we ordered lime juice. I liked that to be honest but others said it was too salty and again pepper was added with full on generosity.

Please avoid this restaurant…. The Veg and non veg both dishes were pathetic and the quantity was not equivalent for the price. The non veg starters were served with samosa chutneys and this was the worst panner dish we had… waste of money and time where you will not be satisfied with food.

Delicious! The best Indian meal I've ever had! We also appreciated the sustainable packaging for takeaway. Can't wait to return. Thank you

It was a beautiful evening spent with family and friends for a birthday dinner. Staff were lovely and helpful, every item of food cooked beautifully and didn't take forever to come out. Salmon curry was spectacular. Kids friendly and at a beautiful waterfront location. A surprise special birthday day song was played for the birthday boy which was very much enjoyed and appreciated.
I didn't give a five star to them because, it was the first time I ever had to buy curry that wasn't served with either or both rice and nan bread. We had to buy rice and nan bread separately. Overall, a near perfect experience.

Really nice quality food with reasonable pricing.couldn’t get over how fluffy the rice and naan was and flavourful the curries were.food did take a little while but worth the wait.only thing was we had to choose a table and get the menu ourselves which was poor customer service

Arrived 15 minutes early for our reservation. Apparently they did not have our reservation at all. As we had our 1.5 year old daughter with us, we asked for a high chair. We were then placed in a dusty dirty corner with no view at all.

We waited over an hour and 40 minutes for a serve of Butter Chicken, A Prawn curry and rice. Due to our parking spot running out of time (we had 2 hours!) and being ignored by staff. We left after paying for our entree. Which in hindsight should of been offered for free. Nearly 2 hours for a simple curry is outrageous as we ordered well before other diners even arrived.

Upon letting staff know we were leaving, we were told it was magically ready right now and we can have it as Take Away. Seriously? Staff also seemed to care less about our long wait and obviously flustered young child. As they said nothing at all. So all in all my wife's Birthday meal was a disaster from start to finish. Thanks Saffon!

Please AVOID!
