The Royal Oak Hotel reviews
48Highly recommend Sunday lunch at The Oak! Our group had a mix of vegan, meat & fish dishes and all were tops. I had the best vegan meal ever. Bravo to the new team in the kitchen! The afternoon rolled on with live music - a feisty jazz group from Hobart. We'll definitely be back.
Had a delicious (and big!) dinner last night at The Oak - pork belly, roasted eggplant & vegies, steak, salt & pepper squid, garlic bread. Service & food was excellent. The pub itself is also looking a tad more fancy after some very tasteful renovations by the new owner.
Sunday evenings always has an Irish style folk music session, come at 1700 start.
Sadly, the Sunday Irish Folk sessions have ceased as of Jan 2020, however some of the musicians now meet at the same time in "Tandy's Elizabeth St. Check out the Local Tassie Beer.
Feb 2020.
Front bar is too cramped/loud for live music, but the staff are great, they have dramatically improved the beer selections, the crowds can be a mixed bag.
Had two dinners here. Eye fillet was cooked the way I liked it but not as tender as eye fillet can be. The Veges were excellent - came back the following night with lovely melt in your mouth tassie salmon and perfect Veges. Lovely selection of tassie wines too
Hands down the best pint of Guinness in Australia. I'm Irish, been in Australia 8 years and i'm always on the look out for good Guinness. These guys have it and know how to pull the pint. Well done!
It's your quintesional friendly Launceston pub with, a great feel and music entertainment.
Sunday it has a rather Irish like, impromptu folk session, where out if the blue, local musicians collectively harmonise in a Irish like jig band.
You are compelled to let loose and strut your stuff free of any inhibitions.
Yes to be SURE.

It is your typical pub but the only outside area is the smoking area unless you go out onto the street which isn't allowed with an open vessel and the music can be quite loud at times.
