We sat outside on a lovely summer evening, food was delicious and quick they also serve awesome desserts. Would come back again!

Quaint little eatery that has tasty food and excellent service. They also sell fresh pasta! We had garlic bread to start with which was more of a crisp bread- I couldn’t taste much garlic in it but it was tasty anyways, so I was happy. We had the ravioli and the gnocchi. The ravioli was off the menu but the gnocchi was customised. Both were v tasty with simple flavours. We shared a gelato for dessert which was average. There is only seating at 3 tables with an extra few seats at the bar table. Service was fantastic. I would definitely go back and try some of the other dishes. Vegetarian friendly and very helpful service for people with allergies. And the price was so good!

Swung by to pick up gelato for dessert. Lovely service, reasonably priced and most importantly, delicious!

Got convinced to come here, I think this place has the best pasta in Launceston. Outstanding quality and good for takeaway. You can add parmesan to your pasta and let me say, that's a lot of good cheesy parmesan. They have a good enough variety of bottled/canned drinks in a fridge and enough flavours of pasta to choose from. I think I got one with something like bacon and mushroom sauce and it was amazing. I'll be eating here more often.

Times say they are open until 9pm. Got there at 8.45 to them shutting the door on us. (Not just closing the door, but physically locking it and had the lights on the front off too) It's not like you have to cook the food it's all just re heated. Very disappointed and have always loved the food here.

We ordered two large pasta takeaway and It's the worst pasta we ever had. The pasta is no flavour and was a very small portion for large. It had barely any ingredients and lack of source. The fettuccine Marinara barely got seafood in it yet the clam smelled bad and not fresh. The pasta with roast chicken only got few pieces of chicken and again not enough sauce. Luckily I used the entertainment voucher so I don't paid full price for such adisappointing meals

Our pesto chicken spaghetti, and spaghetti bolognaise are delicious. We really enjoyed their fresh pasta. We also enjoyed the coconut/chocolate gelato.

We enjoyed sitting in their outdoor tables, but there are a number of tables inside.

Walked down from my hotel to grab a meal to bring back. Saw this pasta place and figured nice hot pasta for dinner excellent! Ordered the pasta with roast chicken. Watched as a small container of chicken and mushrooms was taken out of the fridge along with a container of pasta, both containers slapped together and chucked in the microwave. Got to my hotel room (5 minute walk away) Started eating my pasta and found it Luke warm with about 6 pieces of chicken and a few pieces of chopped up mushroom in it. Pasta was bland once I got past the chunks of parmesan cheese. Oh well I guess for $7.70 you get what you pay for.

Love the food there, especially Ravioli. I am vegetarian, and they have a great variety to choose from. I like the garlic bread, it is small and not enough to fill you up so you can't eat your meal. Perfect!

Ordered Chicken Modena, was t asked if I wanted cheese or cream had to specifically ask for it, got home heated up and not 1 piece of chicken in the whole dish.very disappointing

My absolute favourite place for a quick lunch or takeaway! Cannot fault the texture of either, the pasta or the sauce! Only wish they used pans to heatup the pasta and sauce together, rather than microwaves as it tends to make the pasta slightly mushy.

If you’re after a quick, cheap, average-tasting takeaway pasta meal, by all means try The Pasta Merchant. If you want something you’d find in a ‘fine dining’ establishment, this is not the place for you. Based on other reviews, I think we were just unlucky on the night. The garlic bread was very ordinary, and the chicken and mushroom pasta had little chicken and almost no mushroom. That said, the order was completed quickly, it tasted fine, and it filled our bellies. We shall try again.

I asked to purchase 200g of spaghetti. I later discovered that I had been given 500g. And future customers may like to know why. The pasta was stale. And, apart from taste, how did I know? After wrapping my order, the sales person scooped up a handful and dumped it in the bin. Wow that should have alerted me, but my low expectations were vindicated after the first bite and the rest of my evening meal, plus that of my partner hit the bin.

Gelato binned after first taste

A punishing hot day in Launie, we decided to try a cool gelato. Mine was served without previously cleaning the spatula, so the chocolate had someone else’s white stuff on it. I don’t think I’ve every tried such a bad gelato, ever. The other gelato, caramel was insipid and inedible too. They just melted, until we found a bin. Go the chocolate paddle pop, it’s a lot better in every way.

What a treat! We were looking to get some gelato and ended up here. Fantastic gelato. Hazelnut and mint was my fav combo. The staff were so friendly. The the serving was almost the size of a meal. Fantastic.

Excellent chocolate gelato. The lemon gelato is like saltwater taffy in texture, it’s really delicious. The gnocchi here is so good, I take it home and serve it at dinner parties with my own sauce. Warning: the lasagna is addictive. Great small business and my favourite source for chinotto. Much loved by locals.
