The Glass House Hobart reviews
69I have been a few times as a walk-in and the food and service has been lovely. However back in March I emailed the restaurant to make a booking a week before I was arriving from interstate and received no response. I also sent a message via FB asking how I go about purchasing dinner for my parents, because I have also tried calling in the past and no one has answered. I can see they have seen the message but I've still received no response. This service is quite a disappointment considering the food is usually lovely.
Me and my girlfriend had the $55 set menu for dinner. We thought it was delicious and great value compared to similar restaurants in the area. Great selection of drinks and very nice music. Also friendly staff. Great experience!
Delicious food! Go for the Feed me menu and you won't be disappointed, wine pairing was on point and the miso cauliflower was superb! Loved the fresh oysters and staff were friendly, unobtrusive and incredibly informative. We rate this place and feel it provides excellent quality for the price. Came for a glass wine and stayed for the full meal yum!
Good food. Good service. But only few choices in the menu. Some of the items are a bit too expensive.
Impressive up market establishment overlooking the harbour. Prices are mid top end but for that you can expect first class service and a pleasurable culinary experience. Can recommend the 5 course menu with matched wines. The wine selections were impressive and courses worthy of five stars. Better than dinner with Tom Cruise for sure.
$85 feed me menu is a lot of food! But well worth it for the diverse range, produce was fresh and presentations was interesting. Everything from morowong sashimi to a pork schnitzel and spetzal took my taste buds on a journey. Staff were friendly and attentive and ambience is nice surrounded by the Hobart waterfront.
Poor service, promise fine dining couldn’t be further from the truth. Poor menu selection. Mains all came out at different times with the first dish coming to our table followed by 15 minutes by the time our last main meal came leaving all the dishes served to the table chewy and cold. First time I have ever had to request the manager who had poor people skills and the chef who admit poor communication for the error. Would not recommend over priced and very poor service.
I can highly recommend The Glass House for a function.
The organisation for my booking, the bar staff, the amazing waiter I couldn't fault.
The food was impeccable and was complemented by my party all weekend.
Well done Glass House, will definitely be recommending.
Great upmarket restaurant and great food, portions are slightly small but you pay for quality, not quantity if you go to a place such as this
The Glass House never disappoints. Beautiful water views on Hobart’s waterfront. We had delicious fresh seafood, such as oysters, sashimi with freshly made wasabi, and scallop ceviche, perfectly accompanied by local Tasmanian wines.
Great place to go for an afternoon cocktail or before dinner. Would recommend booking purely so you can get a seat with an ocean view. You can still just turn up but don't expect the best seat. The staff are very friendly and attentive. Cocktails are great, also have vegan options for food.
The Glasshouse tonight was just delightful. Beautiful food and our French waitress from Bordeaux was delightful, and couldn't do enough for us. Thank you for a lovely evening. Colleen and Nigel. Melbourne.
The place is nice and the drinks are great, the reason for the one star is the HORRIBLE french waiter (the one one with dark hair and all the rings on his fingers). Hope management sees this and tries to teach him how to behave.
Perfect views, great food but be warned the sugar and spice cocktail is not sugary but certainly spicy and the glassware was dirty. The service also left room for improvement but still worth a visit.
Nice selection of beers with superb harbour views. The cocktails list is inventive if a little confusing:)
Our favourite waterfront spot. Best service in Tassie we experienced. Had a nice french waiter who was very attentive and helped choose some very nice drinks
Very disappointed! Would NOT recommend it!
It was Hobart Regatta Day (public holiday) and not a lot of the restaurant was open. It was our last day in Hobart. My husband and I wanted some oysters for dinner. This restaurant was recommended by our hotel but we were unable to book online. We mentioned to have our Conceige to book for us and we had high expectations. Once we got to the restaurant, we found that the oysters were not available due to public holiday! We were disappointed but we went ahead and ordered our dinner anyways. I had the salmon and my husband had the blue eye fish, we also ordered some broccolinii salad and hand cut chips. These are the reasons I gave it 2 stars:
Food - although the food was well cooked and fresh. Everything was Over seasoned! Everything was so salty to the point that it gave me a headache!
Ambience - over looking the water, view was average.
Decor - you can tell they upgraded it there’s some new parts (the bar, kitchen etc) the carpet need to go!
Service - we had two servers. The initial one we both found that she was rude and not helpful. It gave us the impression that she didn’t want to be there on a public holiday. The second server we had was very nice. She was friendly but was trying a bit hard (kneeled to talk to every table!)
Good view, good food and friendly staffs. I like caramelized eggplants one was yummy. Normally I don't eat eggplants but this dish got my heart. ️
We were seated at a nice table over looking the water, table service was friendly and very helpful with the menu, food was amazingly fresh although I would stick to the small plates and have many more to take advantage of the variety. I don't recommend the wagyu, blue eye and three time cooked chips however the sashimi, broccolinni, beetroot caparccio, pork cheeks were all winners for me!
Amazing experience. Incredible staff and beautiful food. Please come and enjoy this dining experience on the Hobart waterfront.
