The Glass House Hobart reviews
69Attentive and excellent service. Good food but was catering to share plates. Watery expresso martini for the price.
Just WOW! The Chef's lunch with paired wines is a must! Book for lunch the view is better during the daytime
We dined here as a group over the weekend. First time in Hobart and decided to book Glasshouse as a premium restaurant on the waterfront.
Do not be fooled by the lovely website and some of the reviews on here, this place is a major LET DOWN.
I've never not finished a meal at a restaurant before due to it simply being inedible, the Pork dish was flavourless and pretty awful, not at all worth the $41 price tag.
We also tried the Dory fish dish which was FROZEN FISH, soooo disappointing when you are literally in the epicentre of fresh seafood.
Sadly, the service is not much better. Our waiter knew nothing about the menu (doesn't help that it's all electronic so you're all looking at your phones).
Also started taking away entree plates when people on the table were still eating.
It was all just BAD and I left very SAD.
Would avoid coming here if you’re looking for a fine dining experience in Tasmania. The music (Shrek theme song) would suit a bar or surf club and the menu was on a QR code. Squid was tough and over cooked, beetroot salad tasted like it came out of a can. Didn’t allow us to taste the wine, which we would have declined because it was super sweet for a Grenache, and we had to drink it out of cheap wine glasses. We were seated under a fluorescent light, which we asked to have dimmed, but they said it couldn’t be dimmed, despite multiple people before us complaining about it. Might have been better if it was daytime and we could see the view, but given it was nighttime all we could see was our own reflection. Ended up paying almost $300 for two people for a terrible dining experience. Ridiculously overpriced for what it was. Wouldn’t come again.
Great view, food and service! We went for a Friday lunchtime sitting and were met with friendly service and a pretty special view. We had a selection of small plates which were all great.
So excited to come here after reading great reviews. The location is amazing; sorry, the food and cocktails are no better than a pub meal, but with reasonably expensive prices.
We had some fantastic dining experiences at the local pubs and wineries in and around the area,
What we ordered and received was no way what is in these website images.
Always a nice spot to just sit and relax with your favourite beverage and watch the world go by!
We had an incredible experience here as a group booking for 14. Dietaries, gluten free and vegetarians so well catered for. The staff were so friendly and accomodating and we had a fantastic semi private area. A fantastic night had by all and couldn’t recommend the team and the food more!
Food was nice but the portion is a bit too small compare to the price. Lovely atmosphere with beautiful view by the pier.
Came here for a dinner with my wife on our honeymoon. Was recommended by a Hobart local and it certainly did not disappoint.
Firstly, the service. Our table was waited on by a woman named Dola. Every tiny attention to detail was perfectly managed and attended to by her. She was polite, discreet, gave sound advice and overall just made the night an unforgettable experience.
The food and drinks were also equally commendable. We opted for the “feed me” option and it was a perfect choice. The variety of the dishes and flavor profiles were an absolute joy to eat. The cocktails were of a high caliber.
I would thoroughly recommend this bar/restaurant for any couple visiting Hobart. The views from our table were the icing on the cake for our fantastic night.
Excellent location with unobstructed harbour views from the main dining area. Very good service, and quite creative cuisine
Their stracciatella heirloom tomatoes were amazing perfectly ripe and sweet with Parmesan pangritata for some crunch, for me they were the highlights of the meal. The eye fillet was melt in the mouth tender, roast cauli a large serve with nice savoury miso enhancing the browning of it, was about half a cauliflower. Dessert (the lime one) was just as creative as the rest of the meal with none of the components overly sweet, perfectly refreshing after a big meal. They have a happy hour also which I notice included $12 cocktails and deals on beer, would be a great place to hang out and have some early evening drinks.
We were wonder around Hobart and came across this restaurant.
Service was good, tasty food and the price and portions were reasonable.
You get to enjoy meals and drinks with the great view.
Table not ready
Poor service
30 minutes to get a drink
45 minutes just for table bread to be served
Slow with meals which were cold
Says “have it raw” on signage but when wanting to order the sashimi were told they had none left
Wanted to charge us twice
White wine warm
Wait staff unsure of menu and inattentive
I never leave reviews but felt so let down as it was amongst the worst dining experiences my wife and I have ever experienced.
Nice selection of Tasmanian products! But went with 2 diabetics who ordered non-alcoholic ginger beer and were serve the alcoholic version. Could have been scary outcome.
Overpriced, poor service and small portion sizes. Meat was over-cooked and cold. Within 5 min of arriving we were informed we should hurry up and order as there were people arriving to take our table in 2 hrs. Saving grace was the view but would not recommend overall.
Excellent service even when under pressure. Food and cocktails were amazing. Highly recommend this venue to everyone.
The hype & location unfortunately did not deliver.
Very little choice, poor service & over priced relative to alternative restaurants. One dish when served was cold. The food was good but not the value equation.
Only stopped in for a coffee but staff were warm, friendly and helpful.
Bathroom facilities were outstanding and the water views are spectacular. Located in Brooke St Pier, at the Mona ferry terminal.
They have an outstanding selection of spirits, wine and beers; cocktails too.
Well kept and presented restaurant.
When I next return to Hobart, I will definitely be going there for a meal.
Good cocktails and knowledgeable bar staff. We would be back again for a drink. The atmosphere was nice and the local is good. No complaints at all really. Maybe the price was a little bit steeper that I find elsewhere, but the quality makes up for it.
My partner and I came here for dinner and opted for the $55 Feed Me option. This included a delicious array of entree dishes, main dishes and desserts, all for great value. The food was all delicious, as were the drinks we ordered (we especially liked the Rhubarb and Ginger G+Ts). We were impressed with the atmosphere and music and the staff were very friendly and attentive. Highly recommend!
