The Bischoff Hotel Waratah reviews
59Fantastic meal and lovely pub indeed, check out the river just below above the Waratah Falls for Platypus
Just ate there.
According to the waitress, they don’t have juice cause “We are a bar”. So, not a cocktail bar. Kids juice was available.
The vegetarian burger was not a crispy one as described on the menu, but alright.
The chips were a bit too salty, but that seems to be standard in Tasmania.
Stayed four nights, very small room, unprofessional service, we had to ask to change the towels.
Common room for breakfasts, very nice. Country atmosphere and meals of limited quality and choice. On the other hand, very nice place to travel towards Cradle mountains and other places like Corinna, to walk, far from everything. Ultimately a nice place, a bit "wild west". On the other hand, we don't come here for the food.
Solid pub fare in a beautiful historic building. I especially enjoyed the cheesy potatoes with the Sunday roast. The house made schnitzel was delicious - and a big enough serve that it would probably fill up two adults so consider sharing!
Friendly people working there, good food and plenty of alcohol. There's pizza nights, taco nights and steak nights. Someone is always ready to listen if you want a chat. There's a children's menu and a dining area for the whole family.
Stopped in for a coffee, stayed for a chat. The owner was sensational for local information and sights to see
Really good service and quality meals from the character full Bischoff Hotel. Warmly greeted and wonderfully served by the hotel employee whose name I've forgotten - this was several weeks ago. Memorable visit to Waratah and the Bischoff cannot be overlooked as go to meeting and dining place. Will remember to take our visitors here when we check out the West/Cradle mountain areas.
Dropped in for a late lunch. Didn’t realize the kitchen was about to close but the bar guy said it was fine. The food and drinks were great but the cook seemed a bit grumpy.
Good pub food and cooked breakfast plus a Tesla charger too. Had a great night sleep too. Great Tassie pub. Apparently the from accom rooms have a good view of the waterfall.
Lovely locals, friendly owner and some excellent local wines and beers. A great little pub.
Great service and atmosphere in the bar and the meals are massive. You can tell that they are all home made. Can recommend the Bischoff.
Stayed for two nights a great place to stay great food and accommodation and very friendly staff will be back again
Wonderful Country Pub, Great Atmosphere, Staff are always friendly, Pool Table, Jukebox & even table top arcade game. Wonderful cosy clean rooms & fantastic service.
These folks put us up at late notice (booked in with a panicked 7pm call). Two twin rooms, clean and tidy, clean bathrooms separate men’s and women’s, separate shower cubicles). The bar food was good, too.
Even the view of Waratah falls from the front lounge, and one of our rooms, was great.
Fabulous spa room, great hospitality & delicious food! A great place to stay after a big day of bushwalking! I’ll be back!
Lovely lady offered us lovely rooms but the stairs were too much for my old hip!
Waratah is very pretty but there's not much there besides the falls.
Andrew was fantastic, my friend accidentally booked a room with only one bed, even though the place was fully booked, Andrew found me a bed to sleep in at no extra cost. Above and beyond service Beautiful town, great people and outstanding service. Thanks a bunch guys
Very tastefully decorated hotel, incredibly friendly staff and a stellar whiskey selection behind the bar. Anyone traveling to cradle mountain should spend their night there.
I went out of my way to stay here because I had been through the town before and thought it looked nice. Also the spa room was available and that was very much appreciated after a long day's ride. Can recommend the commercial room, which is huge by pub standards, and has a lovely view of the waterfall, the aforementioned spa bath and breakfast included) although it might be a bit cold in winter (heating and lekky blankets notwithstanding), but it's an old building and that comes with the territory.
The landlord was a very nice chap and extremely accommodating, the food was excellent (which is unusual of pubs in the west in my experience) and the whole experience properly relaxing and comfortable. The front bar is perhaps not the cosiest, lots of hard surfaces and flouro lighting, but there were a lot of locals in there and locals have got to be comfortable drinking in the front bar of their local pub in work gear so fair enough. I'm sure it'd be a different story in winter with the fire going.
Also for motorcyclists/Mountain bikers: there is a lock-up bike shed out the back with boot racks and jacket hangers and space for you to sit while you take your gear off. The bloke gave me the key when I checked in and told me to keep it for the duration of my stay. Great touch. Loved this and it's the only time I struck it in 11 days touring the island.
Great pub. Will be back to stay in the commercial room.
Our meals were good, they let us stay till late so we could fill in some time, really good drink range
