Shipwrights Arms Hotel reviews
56Extremely attentive staff, clean rooms, great linen and the kitchenette a bonus even for budget rooms. Owner/manager Rob committed to maximising the pleasures of a stay.
Love this place Great atmosphere and lively oysters, sitt with a chardonnay and enjoy, had curried scallops very nice
Affordable. Noise from bar comes through floor and walls, needs better insulation. Rooms ok, shared facility ok.
Fantastic pub in a beautiful area. Just had a drink here, but there's so much character to the place. Naval and other boating memorabilia everywhere! Bistro looks great, have to come back one day for lunch or dinner! Super friendly staff.
Lovely father's day meal. Lovely old pub with heaps of character and history. Service was great from all staff, it's refreshing to see the constant smiles.
Across our group of 15 many enjoyed lamb, scotch fillet, fish chowder, breads etc which were all really nice. The kids had bangers and harsh which was huge. 1 serve does 2 kids easy. Kids meals at 15 dollars is a little high if they don't eat alot. Will be back soon!
Great food, good beers, lovely staff- what more could you want? A warm hearth? That's asking for a bit much, but yes, they have a working fireplace as well.
The food and service is excellent. Every item of my meal 'fish of the day' was so tasty! Thanks for such an easy friendly time.
I was a regular customer over 20 years, coming several times a year. I think it is not as appealing as it was before and I have been a bit disappointed by my last visit 2 weeks ago (it was ok, but not great) and prices seem up. Not surprisingly, far less people in the room too, we were the only one for lunch. Let's hope they will improve their menu and provide interesting lunch options.
Shippies is our favourite place to stay! Clean accommodation, excellent food, friendly service. We can’t fault Shippies! Tom was the perfect host, thanks Tom & all staff.
We really happy to have dinner at shiowright Arms resto. The best oyster and really cheap, also poterhouse steak really tender. The paella taste very good
Efficient and friendly service. The variety of choices on the menu made it hard to choose. All diners at the table loved their meals. Thank you for a great night. Will come again.
Went here to have a hotel lunch with friends but after sitting down and getting the menus were very surprised at the high prices. So we moved on to a lovely place down the road with less exorbitant prices.
Have to say our meal was not great. Started with croquettes with relish, no relish instead it was an aoli, ordered beer battered flathead, batter was heavy fish was dry and everything was covered in salt. Salt is a choice, containers are left on the table so you can choose to have it or not.
Partner had seafood chowder, was mostly a sweet vegetable broth, contained 2 tiny prawns and 2 mussels it did not even taste like seafood.very disappointed, used to love eating here.service was good and staff were friendly, food was very very average.
Classic, historic, maritime themed pub with a wide range on the menu. Very large servings, the schnitzels were huge. The seafood chowder was excellent. Friendly and efficient service. The bar area is cosy with heaps of photos and name plaques of ships, all very interesting. Live music on the Friday night we went and a lively crowd.
Very good, I would highly recommend this hotel. The is fantastic, try the pork belly it's no1. Great overnight accommodation as well. Tom the manager is a great character.
A five star night with Licensee Tom & staff, good mates & other patrons, delish meal, tasty ale & a sensational footy game
