56Usually a good meal had the paella last night was over cooked, a bit disappointing prawns were hard and dry hardly any seafood in the dish, and was so looking forward to this meal as had the same dish last time and it was great
Excellent service and food had lamb shank delicious.
Apple and rhubarb crumble was huge, great atmosphere and open on Sunday eve for meals
What a fantastic pub. Two nights dining and enjoying friends in this cosy, friendly venue. Meals were superb, steaks cooked to perfection melted in your mouth. Thursday night was fun with a live jazz band. Locals and staff friendly.
What an amazing experience! Hotels full of interesting nautical history beautifully presented. Food was divine especially the scallops, and the service excellent. A real gem in the Hobart food scene, not to be missed
A great pub in the heart of historic Battery Point. Reminiscent of the best English pubs, this has a snug with a roaring fire, and a large restaurant area.
The service was really friendly and just made us want to stay longer. So we did.
We ordered lunch and had a fabulous chicken schnitzel. A couple of local pints of beer made for a lovely lunch time.
It's a good place to go but you are not always promised your Refund the room looks good but the room we had smelte like something had dyed in our room we weren't very happy
Straight up full 5 star experience. Checked in at about 9: 30, was greeted by very nice human man. Given a clean, kitted out room with 2 heaters (2!), 4 ridiculously fluffy pillows and housekeeping did a great job at making the bed really inviting. Shared facilities were pretty cool, I like that in a place. Arriving late meant I got to see the mermaid windows lit up from the outside. Gorgeous. Sadly I had to check out really early so I didn't get to see much of the area or the pub or wander around the neighborhood, but I'm left wanting more, so I'll be back. This is my go to when I'm in Hobart now. Thanks Shippys!
A slice of history in an unassuming pocket of Hobart. Warm, friendly pub with amazing food. Great selection of beers. Manager seemed a bit unhappy.was a Monday after all. Will be returning!
Went with dinner group of 12, very busy night but staff were excellent, be good service, meals very generous and reasonably priced. Under new ownership and service levels much improved.
Open fires, amazing scallops, plenty of cold beers, super cosy and quirky. A must visit at Battery Point. Feels like a warm hug.
Went for an impromptu lunch on Sunday. Fantastic service from really accomodating professional staff, really good coffee. I had fish and chips, fish batter was lovely and light and the fish well cooked and fresh. My fussy partner had a burger that he enjoyed too. Will definitely be back. I think the closest I could get to an English pub Sunday ambiance here in Hobart.
Great little pubs! Friendly and helpful staff. Stayed two nights, great value, clean rooms and quite location.
We visited today for lunch. It had been ~2 years since our last visit because of you know who. Friendly service, warm environment. The food was lovely. They have a nice selection of local gins. The wine list is good and well priced. We will be back. Thank you team Shipwrights Arms.
Good choice to stay at, everything you need in the same place, just go downstairs and you have good restaurant with many options, also a bar, nice atmosphere and best Live Jazz on Thursday’s.
Beautiful old building and called in for a pint and a wee bar snack of pulled pork croquet - delicious! It’s lovely inside there too. Highly recommend!
Very good place to have a beer, meal or to stay in hotel. Pleasant Spirit of local old Hobart. I can recommend.
Listed in my guide book as a pub dating back to 1846 that sells fortifying ale we just had to track it down and have a drink there. As usual, throughout our trip around Tasmania, staff were very friendly and made us feel welcome and before leaving we were chatting freely with the locals. Lots of seafaring memorabilia as it is a popular spot during the Sydney to Hobart races.
Always happy and friendly staff. Decent menu and good food. Fairly priced menu for hobart. Cool quirky pub too. Have been going for years and havent been disappointed yet. Will be back
I had curry scallops and this is poor dish. Rice is not even cooked properly and dish it self was less then food court dish. For $30 it's not worth. My recommendation for place is take that out of there Menu.
Really well prepared seafood, fair prices and good service. You don't pay for fashion or gimmicks and I've never had a bad dish, I always come here when I'm in Hobart now.
