Excellent atmosphere the food was wholesome and filling, generous portions. No wonder it’s popular. Never know who you might see there!

For a great dining experience, the Shipwrights Arm Hotel is definitely a must if you're interested in quality.

Delicious seafood, lovely atmosphere, good, professional and friendly staff made our dinner extremely enjoyable.

I will be happy to dine there again.

Newly renovated restaurant with nice and friendly staff. The decor looks good with a nice and warm fire place. Food is also good.

Meals were fine, just not worth the prices. Not much value for money spent. We have had better meals at much more reasonable prices (Horseshoe Inn or Mornington Inn). Staff were leaning over us to place meals rather than moving around the table and they also failed to bring part of our order. Don't think I will rush back.

Had 'counter meal' was pretty good, not cheap, but I think everyone else at our table were happy with their meal

New renovations have added a great contemporary space. The older dining room in the front perfect for a quieter dining experience. Food was good.

Booked dinner for 2 tonight. Crumbed scallops for me and hubby chicken parmi. Crumbed looked like battered. Chips looked like they’ve been reheated. New management, but nothing has changed. Last time we came here for dinner, chips were the same. Wish I can post a photo of the chips.

Lovely historic bar with great staff. Recently opened dining area looks great and so did the meals. Great combo of modern and charismatic atmosphere.

Had a birthday celebration lunch for my wife attended by approx 30 guests. Special menue were prepared by the Pub. The new renovations are fantastic, great atmosphere, great food, great staff. Cannot recommend the place highly enough. Just a great celebration of a major birthday in no small part due to Shippies.

This place is an absolute gem! We stayed here and had dinner in the restaurant. The rooms are perfect for what you would expect from an older establishment and the restaurant was exceptional! The food was amazing! Highly recommend visiting here!

Took our lovely team to dinner at the amazing new Shippies and didn’t it deliver!

Wow

Wee began in the public bar, which has cleverly remained the same as it is an institution in Battery Point and Hobart. After quite a few pints, we adjourned into our own private dining room in the stunning new facility.

The renovations are amazing in that they have created a modern, light architecturally designed space yet maintained the old world charm.

Staff were very attentive, and we wanted for nothing in our private space. The menu is excellent with all of my staff enjoying their meals.

A excellent wine list with great variety is also on offer.

All in all we had an awesome evening and would thoroughly recommend the new Shippies dining experience

Do yourself a favour!

Popped in for a quick pint on a Friday evening, still had a local community feel about it. Some good memorabilia on the walls.

Counter meal equals pub grub. Well you can if you want and you will enjoy. However the menu hosts dishes that would compare to fine dining. A couple of examples, Crayfish Linguine, Paella and more. Settling for the Paella and I was not disappointed. Okay it didn't have the crunchy base but the flavours were wonderful and enjoyed in a peaceful relaxing atmosphere.
Nice work Shippies.

Very cosy pub in Battery Point. Old style pub, small friendly bar. Great for a catch up. Has food available. Separate dining room which I haven't utilised.

Service was good. Noise level was good. Wine list good.
Some of the meals were very good, but my polenta was disappointing. Way too thick. Some of the spinach leaves were yellow too Mushrooms were wonderful and caramelised onion good too.
Sticky date pudding average.

Cosy authentic & original Pub in the heart of the historic Battery Point area of Hobart. Great family and "locals" vibe with friendly staff and Guiness on tap. Great way to spend an afternoon or evening watching the footy or relaxing with friends.
