Ship Inn Stanley reviews
61Just reiterating my 5 star review below as it showed up with only 4 stars! The Ship Inn is 5 star.
The interior design is exceptional, the location spectacular. We instantly felt at home in this amazing place. Will recommend to anyone wanting to visit Stanley.
We cannot recommend the Ship Inn highly enough!
Kerry & Alastair have really perfected the balance of storytelling of history/place and the creature comforts and luxuries you might expect for on a relaxing weekend away.
Our family of four stayed in Roaring Tom’s Apartment. We immediately felt at home, and we couldn’t fault the styling and amenities provided. The beautifully landscaped gardens literally on our doorstep, nestled under the Nut behind the Apartment were an unexpected bonus!
The breakfast supplied each morning – particularly the delicious fresh bread! - was the perfect way to start a busy day of exploring the local sites. From historic Highfield House, the pristine beaches and of course the climb to the top of Moo-Nut-Re-Ker.
When the weather wasn’t as kind, it was great to have the gym and yoga area at our disposal.
We were unlucky enough to miss out on the chairlift up Moo-Nut-Re-Ker due to high winds! I guess we will just have to head back again soon!
Not much I can say that isn't said in the Ship Inn's advertising, a treat to find it was all true. Lovely room, a little quirky, a little historic and all comfortable luxury. Excellent bathroom and private courtyard nestled under The Nut made this a wonderful (all too) brief getaway.
We absolutely loved our time at your beautiful, luxurious and comfortable oasis. The attention to detail, cleanliness, and beautiful furnishings made our stay just perfect, even the fresh sour dough bread, wrapped as though just baught from a bakery was special and made us smile each morning. We celebrated our honeymoon in Stanley, at your beautiful location and we loved the Wild Wave room, so much in fact that we have vowed to return next year on our wedding anniversary. We both, would like to sincerely thank you, Kerry and Alistair for a fantastic, beautiful and memorable stay.
Amazing seaside accommodation. We stayed in the Cape Grim suite. It was Immaculately styled and incredibly cosy. The kitchenette was stocked with everything you could need; espresso pod machine, milk, juice, Granola, yoghurt, cereal. Fresh bread was provided everyday too, which was a nice touch.
I can't recommend this place enough if you want a quiet romantic getaway with your partner.
We had a great stay here, can highly recommend. We stayed in roaring Toms 2 bedroom apartment which was very nicely setup. Great location. Stanley itself is a great place to visit, all good. The Nut is very steep but you have to do it.
Impeccable! I was very impressed with the quality and attention to detail. The room was cosy and had been beautifully decorated. Never before have I been able to call a bed in any accommodation "Cuddly" let alone "Comfortable" the bedding and linen were good quality and we were taking guesses at wether the pillows were feather or wool. The owners have made sure their hotel is luxurious right down to the bathroom products which were so lovely I have looked into purchasing some. The bathroom itself was perfectly clean and in great condition, something that often let's places down is mould in the silicone and cracks of the shower but this place was perfect. Yes I am probably picky. The in room breakfast was restocked daily and my husband loved the freshly made bread. We will definitely stay here again and we're sad to leave. Worth every cent and the perfect place to relax for the weekend. I am really picky and have stayed in many places but The Ship Inn has earned every star. Well done to the owners
Stayed in the Moo Nut Re Ker room just set out beautiful. Breakfast supplied cereal, sourdough bread, yogurt
Absolutely stunning! The Ship Inn has found a wonderful balance between gentle sophisticated decor, period storytelling and modern facilities. Close to the beach and township, with off street parking.
Each of the rooms have a name and story - with art work to match. The small kitchen and bathroom are nicely finished with modern appliances and the bed was very comfortable.
Our room was equipped with a great breakfast makings - local bread, fruit, yogurt and cereals, and good quality tea and coffee.
We had a wonderful stay and will be back.
Our room was stunning, neat, cozy and great amenities. Our breakfast was great with fresh Tasmanian produce.
Kerry and Alastair have nailed it. Luxury, warmth, comfort and outstanding hospitality is all in abundance at this boutique property. Delicious breakfast provisions and luxe bathroom amenities are very much appreciated. My room, Highfield, matches the wonder of the historic township. Very much enjoyed both the views from the Ship Inn verandah and the magnificent views on the summit of The Nut. A very special part of Tassie which I will visit again and again.
We stayed at Ship Inn in March and it was simply wonderful. Everything was perfect from the breaky down down to all the wonderful things to see in our apartment " Moo-Nut-Re-Ker". Thankyou so much Kerry and Alastair for having us in your beautiful home. We will be back to visit. Caroline and Rob, Kilmore Victoria

Amazing! Booked into Cape Grim and Lyons Retreat for my two adult children by charming Alastair, I had done a lot of research on this little gem in Stanley, but was so surprised on the attention to detail, the comfort of the bed, kitchenette facilities our yummy breakfast and of course the view from our deck which all combined made this place our favourite in all of Tassie. What a relaxing two nights, wish we could have stayed longer. We will be back.
It's the small touches that complete the overall experience. From fresh daily baked bread wrapped in their logo butchers paper, beautiful Australian toiletries supplied and a glorious finished room with comfortable a bed. It's hospitality at its finest. If you want to support a family that is good at what they do and only care about giving you their best- look no further.
Beautifully appointed and comfortable room with outstanding and accommodating hosts. What more could you want.
My husband and I met with family at The Ship Inn for a little Christmas vacation. The town is gorgeous.like stepping into a little English fishing village! The front facade of Ship Inn is gorgeous! Once inside you’re captivated by the history and styling of each room. Kerry and Alastair have done a wonderful job at restoring this old Inn. Our room was beautiful and well appointed. We made a cheese platter and bought freshly shucked oysters locally and had a lovely afternoon in the courtyard. Really love the yoga and gym retreat and enjoyed playing music here. Can’t wait to stay again next year! Thank you x
Everything about this place was faultless. As soon as we entered the office on arrival, I knew it was my kind of place.
Just the way the wall of books was presented. And it only got better from there on.
The most superbly decorated place I have stayed without being showy or overstated.
Every conceivable thing was there to make it a perfect stay, including the ingredients in the kitchenette ready for a lovely light breakfast.
Superb is all I can say!
My husband and I stayed two nights at this lovely colonial guest house in May 2019. We had requested the recently renovated attic room and were not disappointed. I personally love old buildings and the decor was lovely with a view of the bay. We had our own little kitchen with a good selection for breakfast and a lovely en suite. It was meticulously clean, quiet and I made our very friendly host smile when I told her my favourite piece, which was a glass jar filled with all the old broken shards of china that had pushed their way out of the earth over the last 100 years. Just a little touch but so lovely. We will definitely come again
