Riversdale Estate French Bistro, High Tea Orangery & Peter Rabbit Garden reviews
44What an amazing place. Stumbled across this gem when curious about the Peter Rabbit Garden. Lunch menu is basic and well priced but the food is far from basic, it was delicious. The wines are some of the best I've tasted in the Derwent Valley. The view just finishes the experience perfectly. A special thanks to Emilija, who was amazing. From the freindly greeting as we arrived to a very informative tasting (5 wines for $10) she absolutely completed an memorable experience. This place is a must visit when in the region.
Sign out advertising coffee and cake. Upon enquiring, informed cake wasn't ready. Ordered coffee and scone instead. Girl explained that the coffee may not be great as she can't make coffee properly. Finished said coffee, scone still hadn't arrived. Asked how long it would be, to be told, sorry, order didn't go through until just now, So they haven't been done yet. Needless to say, I paid for coffee only and left.
Having High Tea is something we all need to experience at Riverdale Estate, in the exquisite tea room. ️
Gorgeous location with amazing staff. Thank you for being so hospitable, the lady that served us on Sunday afternoon was so kind! X
A perfect place to experience high tea. Riversdale Estate Tasmania offers not only high-quality wines but they are also a place to spend your morning and afternoon tea. There's a traditional english room with floral designs and a chandelier adorned with sparkling crystals. Scones are served fresh with homemade jam and cream. High Tea may not be the pinnacle of high teas, but the whole experience is breathtaking because of the surroundings facing the vineyard and river. The only downfall is the strength of the tea, which was too weak as it wasn't steeped long enough before serving. A grand entrance made by Peter Rabbit delighted young and old alike.
Food was delicious and beautifully presented. The staff were also excellent.
1 star lost: we had arrived a day earlier for a visit at 11am and the staff told us they weren’t ready for people to come and eat, so they suggested we come back the next day with a booking which we did.
1 star lost: while the gardens looks pretty at first glance, an up close and lengthier view suggests that there is a lot of maintenance needed. Roses have black spot and rose beds are full of weeds. The grassed area & decorative garden beds have thorny weeds ~ I managed to accidentally step on one with the prickles ending up embedded in my shoe sole?
While the venue appeared quite beautiful when we first arrived we quickly were disappointed in the rest of the experience. We were seated outside as requested and the lovely woman who seated us did wipe down the table and chairs before seating us but unfortunately the area had been quite obviously neglected and the chairs and windows were covered in cobwebs. As we had just returned from holidays we decided to have a lighter option of refreshments and ordered 2 slices of the cake, a pot of tea, a coffee and a bowl of hot chips. We were shocked when the total came to $66. Although the staff were friendly enough, we won't be returning as the price definitely didn't fit the quality of what we received. As a side note, the Peter Rabbit gardens were very cute, but needed some heavy maintenance.
Was lucky enough to be surprised with a small intimate high tea for my hens day on the weekend
The room was absolutely beautiful and the food was delicious
Can not fault at all
Wendy was fantastic very knowledgeable and service focused would highly recommend great wine range too
It was a Fawlty Towers dinner and interactive show, with lookalike characters from the series. Very funny and enjoyable
Fabulous. The most beautiful place. Staff were lovely, food amazing. The best experience with wine tasting with our host Wendy, made our day. The Wines are some of the best I have experienced. There is also a Peter Rabbit garden and shop which is magical. Will be back to visit one day and a big thank you again to Wendy x
Wine review: amazing! Easily the best wine in the region. Wendy the Saffa was a great host! We loved it, the Chardonnay is one of the best we’ve ever had! Definitely go there!
Drove from Hobart with children very enthusiastic to see Peter Rabbits Garden. Website said open on Thursday from 10am. Whole property closed.
Was a decent place a while ago, however it has been going downhill lately and our today's experience is close to awfull. Two out of four dishes we ordered were different from their menue description (beans instead of sprouts, goat's cheese soufle instead of brie). These two were almost unedible. The pork was too lean and boring, the beef was alright for a good pub, but not for a french bistro. We had a booking for a family reunion made for the next month for about a dozen of people— definitely cancelling that.
Beautiful location and perfection in our meals and service
Lovely experience
Hope to return for a high tea experience
The place was absolutely beautiful, but the food was terribly overpriced for how gross it was. Worst platter board I’ve ever had, for $60 you got basically nothing. Pizza was the worst I’ve ever experienced in my life. Crumbly and dry base, lacking on the toppings and messily prepared. The waitresses never took our empty glasses so the table was cluttered. Never going again. Unless they find a better chef or recipes
The high tea on the saturday was disappointing, I went pre covid and was exceptional, this time it didnt meet our expectations for food or service.it dosent take 5 people to pour one cup of tea, then she spilt it and just left it, the food itself was ok, but not great, the cups could do with replacing, old, not an actual tea cup and were stained.teapot needed a good polish.rather disapointed, amazing location thou.
Had a pleasent day with Faulty towers SHOW meal and drinks two of our friends attended. Aot of fun and frivolous no doubt will do itagain. Ist class effoet.
Great experience, great facilities, beautiful position. Very special staff, great wine selection and great menu
We stayed here as My Husband flew home from work after 6 weeks away.
On entering the Premises it absolutely Stunk of something off like seafood and the place was not completely cleaned as there were dead blow flies on the floor and crumbs and dust on the floor and bench tops.
The comforter on the bed was stained and dirty and we only came back to sleep.
Disappointing and although the Vineyard and surrounding parts of the estate were beautiful I honestly can not say that about the cottage we stayed in.
