Raida St Helens reviews
54 My hubby and I went there last Monday.
Fantastic food and even Sapporo beer
The whole snapper and the beef we ordered were cooked perfectly and tasted so yum. The veggies made me feel like in Japan!
Even better meal than when we were in Japan.
We’ve been to so many times to Japan and understood the favor of their food. Very impressed by the Aussie chef
The lady’s service was really good and the owner was very friendly.
We had a really relaxing night there.
A little bit waiting but we totally understood the effects of Covid and thanks those who still provides the good service.
We are certainly going back if we are there again.
Well done guys and thank you so much
Ps- didn’t think about to take photos for review
Absolutely delicious Japanese food made from local ingredients. A real gem in St. Helens and well worth a visit
We really enjoyed our dinner at Raida last night. The food was incredible. We ordered the market fish - and they served us a Japanese inspired whole Snapper. Would highly recommend this to anyone visiting the area.
Absolutely fabulous! Food amazing and staff a delight!
We’ll come back next time to St Helens for the restaurant alone!
We came in as a walk in and they were very welcoming despite this. The menu was great, a good range of japanese food and a load of other delicious options outside of that. The dessert was the best part, I recommend the rubarb sorbet with coconut cream, extremely refreshing after a large meal. Great place, great staff, I highly recommend this restaurant.
Have been to St. Helens a couple of time, a lot of people were recommending Raida, been told their Japanese food are very good.
After a very long wait and inability to book a table for a year during the holiday period, I have finally got a chance to taste this popular restaurant.
Well, the experience I can tell is awful, really awful. First, service is not attentive, our cup has constantly empty, with no one bother coming to fill them up unless ask for.
Food wise, even worse, we got the market fish which is the snapper. What we got is shown in the photo, scale was not removed, and the whole fish was just put on the table. I suppose, the waitress would have been warned customers the way they serve. What we were expecting was at least a deboned, filleted fish to serve on the table, taste wise, nothing about Japanese I could say. Nothing special at all
The other one we ordered was the twice cooked chicken, to be honest for the price that I pay for, I am not expecting to have a left over chicken that is cooked not on the day. So blend! Twice cooked? Make sense, cook few days ago and reheat again before serving.
We’ve been offered 10%off, but it wouldn’t help at all.
Simply awful, would not bother come back again. I wouldn’t feed them to my pets.
Good food, the fried chicken was perfect. Unrelated to the food but I forgot a pinky hat with sunglasses in the restaurant, if anyone finds it, please return it to the manager… the glasses are prescription so they will not work for the person who took them.
Had the best experience with Michelle taking care of us, she was so friendly and welcoming! We’ll definitely be coming back!
We enjoyed our meal tonight after a day exploring St Helens and Binalong Bay.
We had the Prawn Dumplings, Chicken Karaage, Pork Curry and fried rice with edamame.
Fantastic food and friendly staff.
Oh, St Helens. You lucky buggers. You have a first rate restaurant here in your wee town. Great ambience inside. Nice outdoor area for those of us with pooches (just shield your food from the seagulls!). Lovely wine. Friendly service and quick delivery of food. Fresh, wonderful flavours. A delicious meal. We had 5 of the plates. Faves were the panko oysters and the okonomiyaki. Hoping to go back for more before leaving.
What a gem! Delicious food and great service. Went there for breakfast, lunch and then dinner days. Just loved it.
Delicious food. Super friendly, helpful staff.
A live band (wish I knew their name) added loads of atmosphere. Highly recommended.
The food was amazing and the staff were so friendly! Definitely recommend this restaurant if you're in the area.
Wow, what a treasure in the heart of St Helen’s. Warmly welcomed on arrival. Attentive and friendly service. Special mention to Gordan and Jade who were on the floor. Food was also excellent thankyou to the chefs. We will be back!
Didn't taste like "authentic" Japanese food, more westernised. Food options were limited and the pricing were quite dear with the portions being quite small. Bowl of rice for $10, I would have expected more than a small bowl with furikake toppings.
Adding some Japanese sauces doesn't make it "authentic" Japanese in my opinion.
The location was well advertised on the local channel in St Helens. Wanted to have a nice dinner with my partner, but we both left unsatisfied.
Food is so yum every time we come to St. Helens, lunch at Raida is must My husband and I went there yesterday, we realised that the menu has been changed but still the new menu didn’t disappoint us. Really good service we are coming again!
A local recommendation which was a fabulous one! Freshest ingredients superbly presented and delicious. The okonomiyaki was superb with an option to add prawn and the sashimi plate with 2 large oysters was equally tasty. The ladies looking after the customers were personable and professional and represented the restaurant well. A definite recommend to travellers to St Helens.
Really yummy Japanese and great service. Loved the seafood and pork dumplings, but everything we ordered was spot on. Good wine list and a few good tassie drops on tap.
Finally get to leave Sydney and enjoy some time away in Tassie with a group of friends. St Helens is a stop for us on our way from Launceston to Hobart. So was told this is a good dining place.
We were given only a set menu and forced to have it with no options to À la carte - except for the kids.
Then without communication changed the set without informing us.
First rant was the portions. From all my years of dining experiences - set menu is equal portions for each patron. Unless my schooling in maths is any different to the chef's then 9 pieces between 4 is not equal sharing portions.
Second rant was the way food was presented. No way have I ever seen and tasted sushi rolls so badly prepared. Fried sushi? Sorry but that's a Korean style of food and they dip in egg before frying. Then there is the gyoza, it's like fortune cookies.
I have been to many more fusion Japanese restaurants offering different set menu courses at different price ranges but this is by far the worst dining experience I had.
Perhaps if we had been given the À la carte option my review may be different.
But then again I will not be coming back to try.
Staff are friendly however. So the two stars are for them and the dessert.
The decor in the shop is excellent, but everything else is quite average. My friend had to wait half an hour to get his food. The food is also quite overpriced. The food is only average and isn't anything particular.
