Raida St Helens reviews
54Raida st Helens was a beautiful blend of Japanese and westernised dishes with lovely service and a welcoming atmosphere. I highly recommend coming here, especially with young families as there is a kids menu.
Porterhouse was VERY chewy and there was no sauce with the steak (was a bit bland). The salad that came with it was very strange and did not pair well with the steak. The fried sweet potato was ok, but for $55, I expected a more filling meal. Staff could have asked how the food was.
Travelling through the East Coast of Tasmania in 2022 we lucked on to Raida, a Japanese restaurant in the heart of St Helen’s with delicious food that we promised ourselves on our 2023 trip we would return to enjoy which we did and indeed were not disappointed. Beautifully fresh oysters and roasted market fish of the day, yakatori, miso soup, delicious gyrozas and an entree size okonomiyaki the size of a plate. All so tasty and absolutely delicious together with an extensive wine list of predominantly Tasmania’s best. We had already lunched extensively so stayed with the starters for dinner and left totally sated. Carolyn and Greg
I normally like to watch a movie or series while I eat.
However.after taking a bite of the mushroom gyozas, I found that I had to just sit and savor the entirety of the meal without distraction or bother.
A delightful Japanese treat. I highly recommend it
Delicious high-quality food in a lovely venue. Recommend it for special occasions as well as a good dining experience.
We had a meal here last night. Was very lovely. Oysters three ways & the special wagyu scotch fillet. The scotch fillet was exceptional, albeit at a premium price, & it came with all the trimmings (o mushroom & green side that was to die for). Friendly staff recommended a lovely bottle of Pinot which did not disappoint.
I would definitely eat here again for the food, but it's pricey. Its on the Main Street so no pristine views but if it's about the food & price is no barrier I'm definitely back.
Dishes with a Japanese influence, flavours that you've never had before, I can't speak for anyone else it was a fantastic experience. I'm jealous that St Helens Tasmania has this restaurant and we, in South Australia don't.
The recent change of chefs is obvious. Had I written this review 5 months ago when I last dined here several times, I would have easily given this restaurant 5 stars. Had the sashimi again, but this time there was only salmon and kingfish on the plate, no tuna. Previously this dish also came with 2 oysters, but not this time. Smaller plate, smaller serving size but same price. Very disappointing. This restaurant used to have the best chocolate mousse I have ever tasted, so good I would come to this restaurant just for the mousse. But it has disappeared from the menu along with the chef who departed recently. Very sad.
Australian restaurant with a Japanese inspired menu. Open for Brekky with impressive sounding options however we had dinner there and it was awesome. Karaage Chicken, Yakitori kebabs, homemade Prawn Gyozas - all delicious. Definitely recommend.
Attentive service and well presented tasty meal. Travelling through St Helen’s, restaurant was a great find.
One of the best place to go out for dinner. Very good hospitality, friendly staff. And the main part, food was very tasty. And additionally they provided separate ice for my wife to help with swell finger which was so kind of the owner. One of the must go place, if you are staying anywhere near St.helens and Beaumaris. Is on the way to Bay of fries.
Service - amazing!
Great beers on tap!
But the food! The food was amazing! Fantastic! Generous serves! Just so yum!
We loved it
Wasn't sure at the start when there was a little hiccup about the table and ambience wasn't special but then the food arrived and everything else faded away. I wasn't sure about the Japanese/Australian fusion but once again the food was incredible. Big props to the chef as the lamb was some of the best lamb I have ever tasted. Definitely a must. Good wine selection too
Arrived at St Helen’s late on a Sunday evening. Unfortunately very few places were open for dinner - Raida was one of them.
Spent a little more on dinner than we had planned, but loved the chowder, the fried rice and the entree sashimi! Atmosphere was relaxed, the beers were great, and the service was very personal and attentive.
I’m here for business and feeling right at home at Raida. The local Porter is a cracking brew, the scallops were possibly the best entree I’ve ever tasted. Perfect to cleanse taste buds for the Duck Soup. Highly recommended
We arrived in St Helens late afternoon following a trip over from Hawley Beach and were concerned about finding somewhere to eat for dinner until we found Raida at St Helens. What beautiful Japanese food, great service, accompanied by groovy bluesy, swamp grunge rock music courtesy of Brad Gillies. Can highly recommend. Magic
Sushi was premade, rice soggy and cold, and overall bland. Also did not appear to be the same quality as the images posted here. Dissappointed as the other reviews indicated better. Could not recommend, unfortunately, at the current state.
Mother’s Day luncheon with my three little darlings, food was delicious and service spot on. We’ll be going back for sure.
Honestly this has got to be the most enjoyable dinner we have had in Tasmania. The hospitality by Gordon and the staff was amazing and the food was seriously excellent!
Wishing this was my local.
Highly recommend!
Both food and service was amazing.
Would highly recommend.
Please put the rhubarb dessert on the official menu!
