Novaro's Restaurant reviews
69 Our best meal of a trip to Tasmania.
Great food and service. The duck was outstanding.
Nice location inside a terraced Edwardian house although parking nearby was a bit challenging. Atmosphere rather subdued like waiting for a church service. Our server was over-formal but everything was presented well. Our food and wine was excellent and well cooked although my daughter’s strip eye steak was rather strongly flavoured with capsicum juice. My main problem was the price which was too high, on a par with Melbourne’s best and exceeding a similar style restaurant in London.
The food choices and quality was fantastic. Service was was friendly and great.
We’d highly recommend this beautiful restaurant
My wife and I have visited Launceston more than 30 times over the past 35 years. Although it was our first visit to Novaro’s we both thought it was one of the best we experienced in Launceston.
Excellent service, a nice atmosphere but the food just missed the mark. Expensive for the quality of the food.
The service was top notch; friendly and well informed but not intrusive.
The food was good but not great. Each dish just didn't quite have what it takes to make it outstanding. For example, the carpaccio of beef was overwhelmed with grated parmesan, which swamped the beef flavours.
The pastrami spice rubbed striploin was a beautiful piece of beef, but the spices were almost indiscernible. The accompanying olives, roasted shallots and winter greens did not have enough oomph to elevate the dish to stardom. All in all, it was a nice meal and the 2 waitresses made it a very pleasant evening but I'm not sure that it was good value for money.
We love this place. Absolutely the best restaurant in Launceston. Kath and Tyler are incredibly genuine and deliver a beautiful dining experience every time. Thank you guys for another wonderful evening.
I'd like to start by saying that the food was really nice and the service was excellent.
We were seated quickly without a booking and were served promptly.
The pasta was cooked beautifully, and the flavours were on point.
My only negative is that the portions were very small (entree size) for a main and the price.
Pasta was $48.5 per plate, and the tortellini was $28. I know it's a tourist town but that's too high.
Even high-end Melbourne restaurants charge less or similarly for more.
A little more food on the plate, and you have a winner
What an amazing meal and perfect service. The best we have had in a long time. I don't usually write reviews but people need to know how good these guys are. Thank you Novaro's.
Flawless food and service. We thoroughly enjoyed our meals; pork and beetroot entree and gnocchi and lamb mains. Just divine! Thank you Novaro for making our first evening in Launceston) Olivia and Annie
I hidden gem in the heart of Launceston. We dined with friends celebrating a special birthday. Tyller and Kathleen are fantastic hosts and very accomodating to one of our party who is Vegan who I had mistakenly noted as a vegetarian, but the chef produced a fantastic vegan option. Putting our rabbit food friend aside, we all shared the same Amuse Bouche - a potato and celeriac broth that was a warm welcome from the chilly 5 degrees that Launceston had served up. My starter - crispy skin pork belly was just as described, crispy skin, well seasoned and a generous serving, others had the Salmon Tortellini served with Crab bisque, sour cream, chives, packed with flavour, the home made pasta, paper thin and al dente. For mains, we had the
Pan Seared Kingfish - served with whipped tahini, green pear amba, white anchovy vinaigrette, lovage, winter greens, parsley oil - The fish was beautiful cooked and the skin crispy with just the right amount of salt to help the skin caramelise. Highly recommend this restaurant. A big thank you to our hosts for making this a very special birthday, we will be back. Thank you.
A fine dining institution in Launceston that we were very happy to have visited. The food is sublime and team absolutely charming and warm. I managed to take a photo of this lamb, which was the best I’ve ever had. Succulent, full of flavour and cooked to perfection. I ate this with a side of mushrooms and fried tarragon, delicious. Absolutely recommend can’t wait to come back in Spring. Yum!
Delicious fine dining Italian food. The menu is small - but everything that comes out looks great. Service is great.
Enjoyed this restaurant experience!
I enjoyed the food especially the quail and beetroot risotto.
Staff thought they were better than the Customer, the service and the food was average to say the least. Over priced and the flavours were not what was explained. As a regular diner in the industry we are ok with a very limited menu if it is done well. However we were very disappointed. Price per head compared to satisfaction 4/10
Had dinner there with party of 6. Excellent food and service. Everyone enjoyed the food, wine and desserts. Nice of Kathleen to meet my request for seafood marinara even though it wasn’t on the menu. Fresh & nice oysters too.
Beautiful restaurant! The food was delightful and we had a great experience here. We can't wait to return back to Launceston and visit Novaro's again!
Lovely gourmet Italian restaurant with all fresh produce from local Tassie.
The staff are super lovely and the food is definitely spot on in flavours.
Not a lot of variety of food but anything is on the menu is pretty much guaranteed to taste good.
Desserts are an absolute must try, we thoroughly enjoyed the whole meal but the desserts were the long lasting feel-good factor.
Will bring family over when I have the chance to.
We recently dinned here and WOW everything was on point. My partner left saying it was the best meal he'd ever eaten. There is a certain care and respect for food & service the team here at Novaros have. I haven't seen this for years.
Fantastic food! Visited here with my pregnant partner, and they assisted with the dietary requirements.
The lovely lady took my partners coat at the door to begin with.
The food was amazing! Just amazing.
We loved the building and the setting, such a great venue.
The best dining experience of many in Tasmania from our visit.
