Molly Malones Irish Pub reviews
46We were seated soo quick on such a busy night. The servers were friendly and attentive. The food was sooo good. We will definitely be back if in the area again.
We held our Second Annual Christmas Party and Molly Malones the food and service was fantastic. Would definitely recommend for functions.
Always been a favourite place to enjoy a meal. However I was disappointed tonight with my main but more disappointed in how it was handled. The questions fired back at me on why I couldn’t eat it shocked me. I’ve worked in kitchens as wait staff and kitchen hand and if a customer returns a plate with food left on it and says they didn’t enjoy it and the reason was validated then without hesitation the customer should be compensated. First I had to wait for management to come and see me as kitchen staff aren’t allowed to make any calls, i then watched kitchen staff playing with the steak. I had asked for medium well and received medium rare and although i didn't mind it was the fact i couldn't cut through most of it. I ate 3 or 4 small squares from the middle. For staff to treat you with no empathy or take any blame for it is what grinded my gears. The manager didn't even take the time to acknowledge my complaint let alone apologise. I was told all they could do was take 10% off. I eat out all the time and have never been treated like that with a meal that I couldn’t eat. Not good enough!
Great food and nice staff. This place has picked up from the almost raw carrots I had here 6 months back. Our pasta was great. It must depend on which cook is running the kitchen.
Food was good except that waitresses said that the 'chef' won't change things on menu.
Eg no wedges so wouldn't put loaded wedges topper on fries.
Just small things but put me off going there again.
Meals were generous, hot, very tasty, fresh vegetables, thanks Chefs.
3 waitstaff, awesome job, so friendly and attentive. Best service by far since landing here a week ago. I would recommend this place for a meal.
So far so good, i am going to Tasmania on the Spirit, do not know Devanport at all, so i booked xmas eve and xmas night at Sunrise motel, who told me about gateway for xmas lunch. They were boomed out, so forwarded me on to Molly
When i booked the staff told me the full menue which sounded lovely. The staff were really nice, so i hope xmas day is the sameMalones.
Well the service and atmosphere is excellent. The food an't as good.
Steak sandwich was made with Turkish bread instead of normal bread. Not the end of world but it's not really a steak sandwich.
Overall great pub.
Lovely pub, great food and fun atmosphere. Great for families or for a party. Staff were very friendly.
Food is always great, but service is so slow. Slow to seat you, slow to take your order and unfortunately probably only 1 of 5 ladies smiles and makes you feel welcome. Never used to be like this. We have discovered $20 Sunday roast and dessert deal, it's great value. The roast beef just falls off the fork, so tender. Unfortunately the decor is not that inviting but I guess that is up to individual taste.
What an extreme disappointment: (
My husband chose the $40 seafood platter. 6 cocktail prawns suspend of a bowl of thin tasteless seafood sauce, a piece of prepackaged battered barramundi a small handful of over cooked crumbed seafood package again and a scattering of chips with a small bowl of chopped up salad.
I myself chose the Irish Stew, and to be honest Pattie himself would be disgusted. It was presented with a small spoonful of lumpy potato hidden under a warm roll. As for the stew it was undercooked as the root vegetables were hard and inedible.
Not to mention we was in a quite booth section, when another loud and rough group was seated near us and we was entertained with vulgarity our entire meal. There was quite a lot of spare tables in the main areas they could have been seated but the waitress selected us to enjoy their company. All in all easy to say I will never be returning to a once reasonable establishment. I would not even rate them with a 1star.
Sunday 2 course special was fantastic value and taste. Generous servings great chicken and roast vegetables cooked to near perfection. All the staff we dealt with were very kind, obliging and courteous. There was a friendly open and upbeat atmosphere.
Worst chicken Parmi I've even had in my life. Explained to the cashier that it was dry and inedible, she said yes we can't get our normal ones!
That will be $25 Thank you.
Disgraceful will never go back
Love this pub, great meals, friendly staff, clean and tidy and a great atmosphere. Highly recommend it.
Went to dinner with my partner tonight. Very pleasant night. Friendly staff. Pleasant atmosphere. Delicious food. Will definitely visit again
Very down to earth pub. Laid back and casual with very good food options that tasted great and of course the Irish beers.
Didn't get to eat due to the attitude we got from the waitress when entering, asking us if we had a reservation on a Monday night at 5pm (the place was empty!) and then further attitude when we tried to ask with regards to allergies. The attitude only dropped once confronted on the poor service being provided.
Thankfully MacDonald's is just down the road.
I have been waiting for well over an hour and they haven’t even started the meal this is ridicules (there is only us and one other table), I came here for a quick lunch and it has turned into a nightmare. I am sitting near the kitchen and they finger the food like crazy with no gloves or nothing it is disgusting they should be ashamed. Do not go here
Rude staff with disgusting attitude.
Empty restaurant yet waitress seemed unimpressed that we didn't have a reservation (on a Monday)
Asking about menu items seemed like a huge inconvenience to her so we let her know her attitude stank and all of a sudden, she had manners and was polite. Funny that.
Wouldn't know if the food was worthwhile as we left without eating. No wonder the place was empty.
Would recommend Prems around the corner instead, where the staff greet you like a person.
Great food, nice staff, what a find. A far larger town / city down the highway in Devonport has an Irish Pub not half the place this is. Will be back
