Macquarie Manor Hotel

Very friendly and attentive staff and located in the very centre of Hobart with quick access to bars and exceptional restaurants.

Sadly let down by a very tired interior to the bedrooms and a weird layout in which, in many rooms, the only window looks out onto an internal hotel corridor.

That said the price was reasonable and, as mentioned, the staff were really great so what more can you ask?

The Manor is a fading beauty, a little shabby but very clean and doing its best to keep up appearances. Both mornings, one or more pieces of electrical equipment for breakfast were not working - maybe too many things on a single circuit. The staff is friendly and helpful, and our room large. The double-glazed windows kept us from hearing street noise and what was apparently a very noisy thunderstorm. The wifi (maybe Google fiber) is great!

Fantastic hotel, with great service. Very clean, well located and Chris the proprietor is terrific. Would absolutely stay there again.

Rooms were clean and a good size. Chris was amazing and friendly, giving extra tips and tricks of places that were off the beaten track.

Can recommend staying at Macquarie Manor. We arrived early and dropped our bags off which were taken up to our rooms for us when we returned. Very spacious room, friendly hotel cat and lovely staff. Croissants and coffees in the morning were also a big hit. Would definitely stay here again on our next visit to Hobart

We went to Hobart on the 1st week of September. Perfect spot for us. Staff were friendly and very accommodating. We came in a bit early for our check in. We just want to leave our luggages so we can have a look at the city first. Chris said the room was early and hence we can put our bags and check in our rooms. Even gave us a free parking. Very accommodating, great service. The place has a very friendly vibe atmosphere. Great location and we even get to meet the Lord of the Manor. Check out for yourself. Thank you for the wonderful time.

Why stay anywhere else, when you can stay here and enjoy the hospitality of the hosts! A wonderful room with all the comforts of a home.

Couldn't recommend Macquarie Manor highly enough! My husband and I stayed for our honeymoon in April this year. Chris and Matt are so welcoming, friendly and they went out of their way to accommodate us. The hotel itself is really beautiful, and the rooms are big, clean and comfortable. The dining room was probably my favourite room to hang out, and I really enjoyed the complimentary breakfast and looked forward to it every morning - the guys also make a great hot chocolate! Great location, close to St David Park and Salamanca Market. Most importantly, there is a gorgeous hotel cat named Raggy who visited us everyday for pats. Such a lovely place to stay and when we visit Hobart again, we wouldn't stay anywhere else!

An all round great stay. Clean, comfortable and great sized room in a character property. Chris was very friendly and helpful throughout with great communication. The free continental breakfast was an added bonus, especially as it included freshly barrista'd coffee. Well located to explore Hobart in foot and great eating options just minutes away. Nice to be welcome by Raggie the cat on my return each evening as well!

We felt so welcomed and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Everyone went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. The room itself was extremely clean and well decked out.

Absolutely loved our stay at Macquarie Manor. Chris was super friendly and helpful - great hospitality, he even pre-warmed our room for us! The continental breakfast was good and Chris made us all a coffee/tea/hot chocolate. Beautiful room, very comfy bed. Will DEFINITELY stay again! Thank you!

Had a lovely stay, it's close to everything and perfect for nights out in cbd when you'd like to walk back to hotel instead of driving. The room was great with a view of Macquarie street, good heating, very neat with some lovely paintings on the wall. Will definitely be coming back again.

Matt was the best host. Friendly and welcoming. The kids voted it the best hot chocolate in Hobart. Will definitely be staying there again on our next visit to Hobart.

Heritage building converted to a hotel, but the lack of an elevator and draughty corridors are minuses. The room was large but rather dreary. However, Chris at reception, who also ran the breakfast room the next morning was unfailingly polite and helpful.

This is an old and very well appointed hotel. Beautiful furnishings and comfy room. No restaurant but so close to everything, that wasn't an issue for me
Breakfast is help yourself Continental but with good, freshly made coffee to order, no nasty instant here.
The only gripe was the lighting over the mirror, hopeless for putting on makeup. Chris, the host, was right onto it with good grace and grateful to be made aware of the problem.
Would defo use it again
