Lark Distillery reviews
58 Literally the reason I’d travel to Hobart. A well-stocked whisky bar in the heart of Hobart, close to the waterfront as well. So perfect for a before or after evening meal.
Nice & cosy during winter, but during summer the outdoor settings provide views of the waterfront. The staff are very knowledgeable of their whiskies, and can point you in the right direction if you’re after something specific.
Customised flights can also be made for you, allowing a robust whisky sampling from around the world. You can also purchase locally made whiskies from the bar, along with merchandise, glassware & books.
Any whisky fan should ensure they visit Lark Distillery!
I lovely relaxing atmosphere to sample some amazing local Whiskey's & listen to the stories behind them
Went there to try Tasmanian whisky. My friends from Sydney and a local Tasmanian recommended me this place. T tried 3 whisky type for 20aud. One of them was very light, one was strong another one was normal. I really liked Tasmanian whisky. Recommended to everyone
Great for a whiskey tasting experience, but it’s more of a bar than a distillery experience.
Don’t get me wrong, the whiskey was lovely but honestly it’s a bar. When I arrived I ordered a tasting, spirits were poured and I charged for the tasting before anyone even had a chance to explain the tasting to me.
Bill paid, two minute explanation and I was left to myself to taste. Had to hunt down my own water as well.
That said, the whiskey was lovely. The fit out is also sensational as well. Certainly worth checking out, but temper the expectations or arrange for the distillery tour.
Went to this place with a group of people on the 1st of March maybe just after lunch. I was made to feel stupid by a Spanish sounding women twice in a short space of time. First I asked for a wine list and see rudely told me, this is a whiskey bar and said they had white or red. OK fair enough, Next time after a few pints of beer in the sun. I asked for a pint of water and gave her my dirty pint glass to use, happy to just have some tap water with the same glass. She got a new glass and patronized me by walking around the other side of the bar to the water cooler in the corner of the room which I had not seen and filled the glass up for me like I was incapable. RUDE. Get better staff. Wanted to try the whiskey and maybe buy some for a present for my dad. After this experience i though It was all just too hard. Everyone else is Tassie has been awesome, not sure why this women is in retail.
I did the distillery tour, we were only four people so it was almost like a private session. It was perfect, very interesting, very nice people there and of course excellent whisky!
Beautiful bar with highly knowledgeable staff and a wonderful array of local whiskies and gins to try.
I tried the gin flight and it was very nice. The staff was helpful and explained everything very well.
$20 flight of 2 whiskeys and a liqueur. Whiskeys are tasty but expensive. Indoor and outdoor tables. Barstaff were friendly.
Excellent location and a nice atmosphere both inside and outside at the back. However I wasn't blown away by the whiskey - I tried the basic tasting and all of the whiskeys I tried had the same generic strong flavour, with nothing really popping out at me. Some of the gins they had were a bit more interesting.
A near complete range of Tasmanian whiskies. A must visit for any connoisseur of alcohol, or just the enthusiastic supporter.
Great tasting room in Hobart. Near the port and in addition to their own products there is an incredibly well stocked selection of whiskey at the bar. Super helpful and knowledgeable staff as well.
Nice little cellar door. Perfect for whisky lovers who want to ask about and sample some Tassie whisky, especially Lark of course!
Cosy spot, close to the city with a large selection of drinks. Atmospheric inside, less atmospheric outside due to the open layout.
Informative and friendly service, and the gin! What beautiful flavours! I've never been used to drinking alcohol straight, but the gin was a delight.
We had a great time at Lark the first time we were in Hobart, 18 months ago. Unfortunately the atmosphere just wasn't quite the same this time around. While the staff were friendly enough, they were less happy to discuss the product and seemed a little less knowledgeable this time. Still, a nice product.
Good range of local and international Wiskey on offer. Their tasting flights provide a great introduction to Tassie whiskey.
High recommend a tour of the Lark Distillery. Our guide Michael was informative and passionate about whisky - an amazing asset for Lark. Thank you
