Hellyers Road Distillery reviews
50 Pleasant visit at the distillery cellar door.
We had done the tasting of 3 different whiskies and 3 different cream liqueurs paired with handmade whisky chocolates.
Great chocolate pairings on the cream liqueurs.
Had the original, 12 year old and the Leven's limited edition. The Leven's was viscous, thick, luscious and simple delicious, barrelled in ex Spanish sherry olorroso cask is amazing.
Will be back for more!
The tour involves a single tasting whisky, which I think is a bit disappointing. I would have done it if I got to taste some core whiskies as well.
Decided to come here for lunch along the North West Tasmanian Tasting tour. Pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food on offer. Both the whisky-braised beef potted pie and the Gnocchi were both delicious. Prices were a little steep, but for the quality and taste you’ll still be satisfied dining here.
We recently visited Hellyers Road distillery our tour guide (we were lucky to have a tour with just myself
And my wife) was Maddy and she had a great knowledge of the process and product. We took advantage of the offer to bottle and wax seal our own 19 year old whisky, this was an amazing experience. Highly recommend! And the whisky is great too!
Definitely my favourite Tasmanian whiskey!
We did the tour and really enjoyed it
And the tasting was just wonderful
Well worth the stop
The food was great, but the tour and the alcohol are not worth it. The information is good, but you don't really pay for that. You get to taste 1 x 15ml nip of alcohol on the tour. Which is nothing special even with the big sale pitch and high alcohol content. I also paid extra in the restaurant to get to taste 4 x 15ml nips of alcohol. All of them, in my opinion, are not that good and I would not buy them.
I would happily settle for a bottle of Johnny Walker gold label than pay $600+ for their Voyager aged 19 years or their Dark Harmony for $200+ per bottle.
Great view, we had whisky flight experience and came with cheese and nuts. A few varieties of whisky to choose from if you doesn't want to have tasting.
Our guide was amazing and even got to pour and seal our own bottle for a future special occasion
Great food, very beautiful location and a range of tastings that are delicious and good value for money.
Staff very friendly and helpful.
I will have loved to have a small talk about the testing but it's the end of the day.
The cheeses are very good! Added with the whiskey was very interesting. I recommend the 23$ option who will gives you a nice idea of the qualities and test of there different whiskies.
A visit to the working Hellyera Road distillery is must do in northern Tassie! We loved the tasting and personal pouring with a wax finish for the perfect Xmas gifts. Single malt whiskeys with beautiful varietals!
As you get out of the car it hits you right in the face that smell of whisky being distilled the gift shop is lovely and the tasting.room stylish and traditional. Beautiful gardend and grounds surround the complex.
The drinks were quite nice but for the testing I would have liked a more personal experience with staff who could tell me a bit more about the different types of Whiskey that I had on my tasting board. Other places put a little more effort into that.
Absolutely fantastic Traditional Whiskey distillery, top selection of Peat, 12 and 15 year old Whiskey. Totally recommend going to this fantastic distillery.
Had a lovely lunch and full flight tasting to celebrate a 30th birthday. A lovely staff member gave us a wonderful experience and let us pour our own bottle to take home
Spectacular food. Best pork belly I have ever had. An amazing place to be. Fantastic service. 10/10.
I would always recommend the Distillery Cafe for a great lunch in pleasant surroundings and lovely staff. The menu will have staples and varying seasonal items but always consistently good and a regular venue for me.
Fantastic experience. We had Emma as our guide for the distillery tour. She was very knowledgeable and passionate about whisky and a joy to speak with. We also had lunch beforehand and highly recommend the entree tasting plate, lamb pastie and pumpkin gnocchi. Absolutely delicious!
The food is delicious and the tour is really interesting. You get a cask tasting at the end and can even pour and seal your own bottle. Very nice range.
Beautiful spot to enjoy a whiskey tasting. Next time, I would try some food if I hadn't already had a big feed earlier.
Ahh, a tasty single malt whisky for a perfect Sunday afternoon.
Will definitely be doing this again soon!
