Excellent experience, iconic property.

This place will stay vivid in your memory for all the right reasons - the property, the rooms, the amazing beach right across the road, the food, the charming host Sophie, and for me most of all - her gentle dogs. Impeccably mannered, they lounge about quietly, content with their lot - and who can blame them. Hawley House is amazing.

I had a great time staying at Hawley house in New Zealand and would definitely go back. I’m giving it 4 stars as the staff were trying to trick me I traveled to Tasmania and it got really annoying

Stayed there for 2 nights. Pros: It is certainly Picturesque and scenic. The host is responsive. Also the food is delicious.
Cons: There are many large unleashed dogs on the property. One of them kept barking at me and almost attacked me. That was a terrible experience. There is also a lot of dog/bird droppings in the graveled area between the house and the car park. Some of it got onto my swayed shoes which was disgusting.

Absolutely beautiful, room was very clean and stunning, didn't want to leave. Bed is so comfortable, fell to sleep straight away. Host was fantastic. Wish we had stayed sooner.

My stay at Hawley House was a grand surprise, in all good ways. The stables were a delight, and being able to bring along the small dog saved the anxiety of left dog at home worries. The grounds and ponds are a spectacular treat for frog lovers, at least 5 species trying to compete with other for calling volume. Lastly the restaurant, I'd come to Hawley House just for the food, I completely enjoyed my meal such a treat.

Can recommend, will stay again.

Let me start by saying this place won't be everyone's cup of tea. If you're looking for a 5-star hotel with room service and a private pool, look elsewhere. However, if you like historic, quirky, traditional bed & breakfast, then this is the accommodation for you!

This family-run bed and breakfast is set on a huge historic property hidden away in what I believe is primarily a beach-side holiday town. There's plenty to explore around the property including beautiful gardens, a chapel and a roof-top bath. Not kidding.

Private rooms, clean and with ensuite, but still fitting in with the period of the house. I'd also recommend having dinner here. The meals are generous and delicious and they source everything they can from from their own gardens. They even make their own wine.

As I started with, you need to visit here with the right mindset and expectations. You really need to "get it" - what this place is and what they're trying to present. If you do, you'll love this place!

Great location. But the best thing about Hawley House is the hospitality. Sophie and Matt are the most lovely people. Our car died outside their property and they could not have been more helpful. They fed and put up with our kids, meanwhile feeding us some of the best food I've had in tassie. Constant care- Even offering to drive us to the airport.
The rooms were good size for our family of 4. Great property, with friendly animals for the kids to play with, it was great. We WILL staying again there when we come back through.
Thank you again!

Our family stayed here at this wonderfully quirky B&B before taking a day sail on the Spirit of Tasmania. If looking for luxury accommodation this is not for you, however if you relish an unique experience in a historic house then take the time ti visit. Oh and our meal & dining room was wonderful.

Hawley House is set in lovely gardens with ocean views. A one of a kind experience, every room of this Victorian property is beautifully and individually decorated. Down to earth friendly service from the family who has owned it for the past 71 of its 141 years in existence. Exceptional food catering to the diverse needs of our large family group. Perfect for all ages, I loved every minute of our stay and can't wait to go back.

We just spent an incredible long weekend with our family at Hawley House, a beautiful homestead of the Rubicon Estate.
It was everything we wished for. The accommodation at the main house was brilliant, the Hill House was gorgeous and the grounds absolutely stunning. We even had a daily visit at the Hill House by four beautiful horses. What an incredible oasis, right across the road from the the ocean. The property also has amazing views to the sea.

Pre dinner drinks in the lounge, in front of the fire, are a must, before sitting down to a scrumptious dinner in the dining room. The food and service was amazing.
Sophie is a perfect host and couldn't do more for us.
We are all still on a high and can't wait to return.

I stayed in the garden room and loved it. This place is the exact opposite of a sterile hotel chain.

Personal service, quirky and charming. The way hotels should be.

Magnificent gardens, private beach and outstanding food / wine. This a a gourmet’s delight.

Thank you Hawley House for a well needed relaxing day and night. We appreciated your amazing hospitality and great home cooked food.
I would highly recommend this hotel for pet lovers travelling as well as a get away with your dog. Well behaved dogs are welcome! Your dog will love you forever coming here. Perfectly positioned for direct beach access as well as great hiking. Prepare for a pampering at the end of the day on your return. Food is amazing and the staff cant do enough for you.

The most unique old eccentric mansion we’ve ever visited. I write this review after a few ciders from the roof top bath. Worth the experience.

My partner Ashley and I, were lucky enough to have our wedding reception at the incredible Hawley House in January 2019 (the ceremony was at the gorgeous beach front a few hundred metres away at the end of the Hawley House Driveway.

We couldn't have been happier with the reception. Blessed with amazing weather, Sophie and her team truly brought our 'Relaxed nautical beach party' vibe to life. The wedding was relaxed and incredibly fun, the service outstanding and the food exquisitely delicious.

Communication from Sophie who managed our booking was always super quick and thorough in reply. They bent over backwards to accommodate seating, items for the beach ceremony and allowed us to come in the day prior to lay our centre pieces and decorations – nothing was a bother or too much trouble. In saying this they also were not always on top of us on the day so we were allowed to relax with our family and friends.

We couldn't speak more highly of the house as a wedding venue. The vast majority of our guests - including 15 who stayed onsite - had travelled from interstate and were blown away by the stunning grounds, terrific food (including the breakfast the next morning) and amazing Tasmanian hospitality!

Accommodation was comfortable and contained everything we needed to lay our heads down after good food, drinks and running along the sandy beach breathing in beautiful salty Tasmanian coastal air.
