My dog and I had an absolutely wonderful time at Hawley House. Everything was perfect - the grounds are lovely, the room was so nicely appointed, spotless and so cozy, the location couldn't be better with a stunning dog beach just a few meters walk directly over the road. The staff were so nice and helpful. The whole place is just charming. I'm so grateful that they allow dogs to stay (in certain rooms). I really hope to visit again. Thanks for having us Hawley House!

Totally amazing place. Rooms were stunning. Food was incredible. Some of the best food I’ve ever eaten. The sisters looked after our every need and super friendly. Highly recommend staying here if you want a nice relaxing getaway. Gardens are gorgeous.

Fantastic "dog friendly" place to stay with lots to see and do. The house and its surrounding 400 acres are great to explore and Sophie is a generous and welcoming host.

Hawley House is a fantastic destination, we chose two different rooms for our two stays there and we loved both rooms, they are full of character as is the entire property and if you can appreciate that then you won't be disappointed.

Sophie is a wonderful host and strives to give guests a real taste of genuine Heritage listed accommodation.
The rooms were clean, the food was fantastic and our whole experience there was brilliant.

A bonus was the three friendly Alsatians, they add to the warm welcoming feeling that Hawley House has.

We strongly recommend a visit and we will return on our next visit to Tasmania.

This will be our highlight of our trip in Tasmania, it’s a step back in time that’s very rare these days, the house and grounds are amazing and the history of this property so interesting, the included breakfast was terrific and the dining room setting was from another era, you have to experience this wonderful part of Tasmania’s fascinating history, 10 out 10

Historic and charming, we had a lovely stay at Hawley House with a group of friends. Sophie is a great host and we really enjoyed the delicious home cooked meals. Dessert extra fabulous. We loved our room in the stables. The grounds are lovely and the location is fantastic. Great beach and local bird life. Hawley House is historic and nostalgia filled and oozes charm and character. The beds are modern and super comfortable. We hope to return to Hawley House again soon.

We choose to stay at Hawley frequently. Our family feels like it’s an extension of our own home, that’s how welcoming Sophie is! Surrounded by perfect nature, dining on homemade meals and relaxing in tranquility. It’s quirky and unique, interesting and friendly. What a great treasure it is. Even our dogs are made to feel welcome. See you again soon

We stayed in the governess’s room. Everything was so beautiful! You can tell that it is quite old, but we all loved it just as it was! The included continental breakfast was delicious, homemade bread, jams and honey, cereals and hot beverages. We ate in one night and the meal was a fine dining experience, very delicious and unexpected. Thank you for having our family.

We found Hawley House by accident as it was in the middle of 2 locations we were visiting but are super glad we stumbled upon it. The house itself is lovely and full of character, our room was massive and overlooking the garden, ponds and ocean in the distance. You're invited to explore the old house which is full of photos, games and books.

Surrounding the house is the most lovely set of old gardens. We got lucky as we were visiting in spring but I feel they would be stunning no matter what time of year you visit.

The host was super helpful, the dogs lovely and friendly and the breakfast in the morning included some of the best (and perfectly poached) eggs we've ever had.

Our one regret was that we only booked for 1 night. We genuinely considered cancelling our next accommodation so we could stay longer.

I highly recommend. We will be back!

Hawley House provides beautiful, interesting and comfortable accommodation in a superb location. The staff are ''just-right'' friendly (including three gorgeous German shepherds) and the pre-dinner drinks in the lounge offer a lovely opportunity for being sociable with other guests. A special treat venue at very reasonable cost (especially considering the amazing food, location, accommodation and house facilities (including a library).

The service was first class. Breakfast was included in our trip and it was an excellent continental arrangement.
We ate in one night at the restaurant and the entrees, mains & desserts were absolutely fabulous.
Our 7 year old son also loved their dogs which were extremely kid friendly.
The beaches are also spectacular.
I highly recommend a trip to Hawley House!

The place is run down and doesn’t look like any of the pictures on the website. Broken and stained light shades. Even the welcome package was dirty and stained. Toilet broken. Broken cabinet, dirty bedding. Curtains old, dirty and missing hooks. Hair found in bath tub. The place needs some real love. Sad to see miss representation on line. The property is clearly not maintained. Reception area very cluttered and dirty.

Tried to share feedback with manager who was not receptive.

After a long day on the ferry from Victoria, and with many hours of dark driving ahead to get home, we decided it would be better to find somewhere near Devonport to stay for the night. Not an easy task at short notice and with two 8-month-old border collie kelpies. Our searching quickly led us to Hawley House, a lovely phone call and a booking. Only 20 minutes from the ferry, we arrived at the most charming and rambling and picturesque property. The room was inviting and comfortable, for those with two legs and four. A refreshing G&T in the gorgeously old-world lounge satisfied us that we'd made the right decision. After a good night's sleep, we awoke to discover the most glorious gardens to explore, as well as a superb stretch of beach across the road where the dogs could run and caper. Topped off with a generous and leisurely breakfast, we were ready to hit the road for home.
Wonderful place, lovely people, happy dogs.

This is a tough place to review. 2 star is not what I would normally give but it is what is required.
The home world have been magnificent in its day, but it's day had sadly passed.
Yes, it is old, but it is run down, has had maintenance at times, but to a low standard.
We stayed purely for the location (catching the boat to mainland next day)
We had dinner, which was well above the standard of the hotel. Food and wine was great and so was the service.

If you spent a few million dollars on it, the home could be great again.

As it sits I would avoid. Rooms are run down.

I have stayed at Hawley House a number of times and know of no better place. It is a small guest house in an historic home with great service. It is also in a scenic part of Tasmania and close to the ocean.

We arrived and were immediately greeted by the gorgeous residents “ meet and greet “ German Shepherds, lovely first impression for we animal lovers, so gentle and well behaved dogs. We were given a tour of and information of this gorgeous home by Chloe and shown to our accommodation which was allocated for us and our two English Bulldogs, Agatha and Maude. So well set up in every way, clean comfy quiet room. We were given the daily menu to chose our restaurant meal for the night so meals can be prepped as it is an ever changing menu and ingredients are sourced either from the homestead garden or locally. Our meal in the homestead dining room shared with other guests was delicious. I highly recommend the rabbit and vegetable pot pie! Good selection of wine too. The grounds are ideal for walking your dog on a lead after a long drive and the dog friendly beach across the road is truly breathtaking. Sophie is not only a great cook, but very welcoming as is Chloe. Highly recommend this amazing place and being dog friendly is a bonus! Thank you both for your friendly, courteous and laidback manner, it was our absolute pleasure to visit with you. See you next time.
