Hatcher's Manor reviews
47 Loved staying here. The hosts and owners were so great and fun to talk to
And what an amazing place. So much history and close to the town.
Thank you for your hospitality. We arrived late after the kicthen close and the staff made us dinner, we enjoyed our stay Thank you again.
Started to have second thoughts when reading some reviews but the room was lovely, we stayed in the attic room which was spacious and warm with a big TV as well as coffee/tea etc. Room was very clean and new clean linen. The reception guy was very welcoming and showed us around when we expressed an interest in the main house. The only real issue was that it's a large rambling type place and they had a crew of contractors staying there, so we were woken at 5.30 to the guys getting ready for work which continued till 6.30 when they eventually left.
Peaceful and scenic property, lovely antique furniture, a spa, room service if needed, and cooperative friendly staff. I just visited by myself for some r n r and it was perfect. Comfy bed. Had a gr8 sleep and breaky in the gracefully decorated restaurant. Minimal self catering with a 2 burner hob and microwave.
Should’ve read the reviews before booking!
Goodness, where to start…. Very dirty stained carpets, earwigs in the shower/toilet, toilet holder fell off, lights not working, very old stained towels with holes in them. The garden was very unkept, this place looked nothing like it did in the bookings. We had to use all of our sense of humour to get us through the night.
On a positive the place looked very nice lit up at night with the fairy lights. And I’m sure it would’ve have once been a lovely place in its day.
Today is Christmas Eve. Thank for the house owner service us at such a late hour. There may have been some misunderstandings during the process, and I feel very sorry for the landlord. Merry Christmas Eve! And Wishing you peace, joy and happiness through Christmas and the coming year.
We stayed in the Tower room. It was great!
I must say that if you are a "high maintenance" type person, this place is not for you.
Yes it is dated but our room was clean and comfortable. The hosts were friendly, with the lady opening the restaurant just for us and the meal was delicious.
A great location so close to the beautiful village. Overall very happy with our stay.
Nice for a short stay. The accommodation is pretty dated having been built in the 90s and doesn't look like it has been updated since. However the house looks beautiful from the outside and he garden is well kept. It was very spacious but the shower was terrible with the hot water cutting in and out. The grounds are lovely and it is nice to see all the birds and sheep. They provide their own cooked meals which were rather overpriced for the quality you got but were convenient though. Also you had to come at a certain time for the meals, she wanted us to come at 6pm but we wanted to sight see so got her to make it 6.30. She started turning out the lights as we were finishing up and we were actually in darkness until she finally turned a light back on. The cooked breakfast was odd with carrot and potato, probably left over from the night before. The owners were reasonably friendly but seem pretty tired and should perhaps have sold up some years ago. They were fairly unprofessional, shouting at their son who was zooming around chasing sheep on his four wheeler (in his 50s!). Their four Maltese dogs are cute but a bit noisy. The location is close to the town though and good for getting to the airport without having to go into Hobart.
Needs a very big tidy. There was a dirty tissue in the bedroom. A tripping hazard pay me yeah in bathroom door that was bad enough to cut toes. Told them they didn’t seem to care.mold on iron board cover. And just junk around the yard. Broken furniture night. Would never stay there again. Almost $400 for one night. Not happy. Do not recommend.
Very misrepresented if you visit the website. When it was originally built I'm sure it would have been a different scenario. Has suffered years of neglect.
The room was average but we had people upstairs to us and party all night so it was the worst night EVER
Beautiful location in a wonderful countryside town, we were made to feel as if we were one of the family while staying at Hatcher’s thank you for your hospitality and we will see you again next trip:)
Didn't have a good experience in the cottage. King size bed too hard to sleep on. No shower.water dizzled out. Musty smell throughout. Looks pretty on the outside but needs work.
We were very disappointed with so many aspects of our stay. Our parking spot for the hire care was on slippery, wet, unmowed grass. Our cottage was very old and dated with uncomfortable seating and beds. Lighting in the bathroom is very poor and the on-site restaurant needs a good clean. We saw a dead cockroach on the floor and the owner's dogs were running around the eating area and the kitchen. The owners seemed very nice, but the online pictures are not the reality we found, sad to say.
The accommodation is very basic, the heating didn’t work and got charged extra by paying in person the next morning.
Both my wife and I were going to book online for $182 for a night with our 2 kids but instead the woman at the desk who is the owner wanted $249.00
After telling her about her online amount she then reduced to $230.00
I prefer staying at owner managed accommodation but some people leave a bad taste for the rest of the people trying to make a living.
All the best Jannet.
Quick stop, but had so much fun. Stayed in their little Gypsy cabin, warm and snuggly. Great hot water, just a bit of fun. Woke up to beautiful morning sunshine. Farm animals and friendly service. May be a little rough around the edges but was a great little unexpected stay.
Very dated decor and needed a really good clean. Rooms are large but lighting not useful. No heater in bathroom. Towels very thin. Bed not very comfortable either. Had dinner here the first night and was ok. Breakfast was ordinary. Is close to Richmond and has nice views. If you had kids they would enjoy the animals and being able to run around.
This is a farm stay definitely not for everyone.
It is in need of a spruce up but we were made to feel very welcome.
Location is excellent very close to Richmond.
Just dropped in to show someone for a look around. Have stayed here before and was impressed especially with the architecture, and the luxurious decor. The hosts are very friendly. A nice place to stay and a bit different. Look at their web page. Some rooms have stairs so be sure to ask for easy access if you need it.
Such a warm welcome. Great Atmosphere. Beautiful place, so much to see. Really enjoyed our stay. Friendly service Highly recommended.
