Gastown East

I have been here a few times recently and everything has been consistently excellent: coffee, food, and service! I have tried a few of the vegetarian dishes and they are always beautifully prepared (full of flavour) and presented. I'm not normally a fan of doughnuts, but the hockey pucks are

Had an excellent breakfast on Saturday morning. All four of us were extremely happy with our meals. Highly recommend the cauliflower salad. It was yummy. Coffees were great. Well done Gastown.

We had the grazing menu, everything was fantastic. Really well spaced out bringing each dish. We thought it was great value for money and a top dining experience.

I don’t normally leave feedback because I consider most cafes offer excellent food/coffee and customer service often under quite difficult circumstances.
Today when we visited Gastown East in Bellerive with 2 young children we were told there were no tables available. We did notice there appeared to be many free tables at the time we were waiting. The woman at the counter looked curiously at her screen for a very long time and then announced that we could sit outside near the road on 2 separate tables and that we could not put the tables together.
We chose to have our coffees and muffins as takeaways.
The women who gave us our takeaway coffees was very friendly and the coffee and muffins were very nice and that’s why I’ve given my feedback as 1 star.
Interestingly we went down to the waterfront and drank our coffees and ate our muffins and could see from where we were sitting that 2 large tables on their deck area at the front of the cafe continued to stay vacant for approximately 1.5 hours.

Coffee and breakfast were absolutely delicious! Even while busy the quality was on point. The Mushrooms on Toast dish is a must try! Yum!

Lovely little resteraunt in the heart of Bellerive in Hobart, with beautiful views, great food, good prices and charming staff

Came here with a group of 6 and they were so accomodating when we requested the lower table for those in our group that couldn’t use high stools.

Very attentive and friendly staff. Happy to offer suggestions and exceptional menu knowledge.

My friend and I halved the pulled pork croquettes and salmon crab cakes. Both delicious, the salmon and crab coming out on top for me but it was a very close call.

Gluten intolerant friend complimented the bread, and commented how happy it was not to see pigeon hole gf bread. A nice soft tasty gf bread.

We were never without water or coffees. Staff recommended the house juice blend which I forget but it was delicious, we ended up ordering 4 for the table.

Will be back when back in Hobart.

Possibly the best breakfast in Tasmania.
I've now been twice and my partner and I have ordered 4 different meals between us. Each one as good as the last.
Great coffee, great service.

Great customer service by the waiters, they came by regularly, were polite and did their job in a top knotch way.
We asked to be moved from an inside table to an outside table which was accommodated.
Food was delicious! As my partner said "this is the best eggs Benedict I've ever had. "
Will definitely recommend to friends! Next time we're in Tassie we're coming here for breakfast.

Stopped here after a bike ride along the foreshore and so glad we did. The food was amazing and we loved the heaters under the outdoor tables, which made for a cosy meal on a cold day.

Charming staff.good café food menu. (excellent poutine!). Delightful setting.easy access. Perhaps have chair pads/cushions as like other establishments using stools and hard chairs, they're not comfy especially for slim 'botties'! Would recommend.

Decided to go for a walk along the Bellerive Quey and in doing so worked up an appetite for eggs and bacon. Gastown didn't disappoint, super friendly staff, really good food and most importantly good coffee!

It is a smaller place so be mindful of going in peek times but there is outside seating with blankets and heaters built into the tables which is an amazing idea.

Food was beautiful. Lovely selection of wines to choose from and exceptional customer service. Love it. Will be back.

My Canadian friends had told me how good Poutine was. I was sceptical but when I discovered Gastown East was Canadian based and carried Poutine on their menu I had to pop in. Well I'm convinced. It was only lacking be not having a fork. Delicious though. I must browse the menu properly!

The food and service at Gastown East is excellent! My partner and I popped in today when it was super busy and the owner soon found us a table. The pancakes and coffee were delicious and the service throughout was fantastic. Highly recommend popping in!

Great Service, great food with a cool Canadian twist. The staff are lovely and very accommodating and the atmosphere is wonderful.a great breakfast spot.

Incredible food, absolutely gorgeous spread of culinary delights, charming wait staff all in a beautiful and cosy little setting. Highly recommend being fed and watered by these lovely people and clearly highly skilled kitchen geniuses, with attention to detail that would please a surgeon. Five stars, and we'll deserved.

It's a amazing place to eat, best chorizo I never had before, and new taste avocado is so fresh, it should be came again and again!:)

Reading some of the other reviews, some people complain about the smallest things, waiters and waitresses are just doing there job, when a restaurant is busy, there isnt much you can do about it, besides being patient and relaxing. Having Said that, I had a wonderful day experience here, the food was amazing, the waiters, were fantastic, the coffee was unreal, 100 percent will be back again, and I reccomend this place very highly.
